Every once in a while you all make me feel like I am left out of a club I really don't want to be a member of to begin with. Like neither of my kids ever had head lice, or 4 years ago when I was freaked out about an eye infection -> it was the first time in my life I ever had to deal with pink eye. Neither siblings, nor kids, nor I had ever had it. And now - I can't really be the only 71yo female who has never had a UTI can I now?I'm 80 and have never had one!! SHHHHH don't want to jinx myself But had pink eye as a kid once. Also had head lice as a kid but it came about because on way to school someone had put out a big box of hats and we couldn't resist trying them on. Hey, this was in the 50's when people wore hats. We all got lice and I remember some purple stuff and head wrapped in white rag type material! Only had that going on during weekend and was gone and no school missed. But it taught me a lesson I have never forgotten to this day - DO NOT TRY ON HATS anywhere or anytime and I was around 8 or 9 at the time.

As far as I know, the only drug I'm allergic to is penicillin. Besides the two UTI's a couple of years back, I've only had antibiotics when I got a bad upper respiratory illness during a European trip in 2002, and when I had tubal ligation back in the mid-90's. I do wish there was a record of the one I got back in 2002, because I had significant hallucinations, but that might have been from the fever. That was definitely the sickest I've ever been - I was not sure I would make it to the doctor's office and back.

Maddow and I are going to the vet this afternoon. He has another UTI. I can't carry him so I asked my sister if she would go with me and she said yes. I hate having two cats with chronic conditions. I also know UTI's can't wait. $300 later and we are home. I also had the vet trim his claws and give him his vaccines. I am so happy veterinary medicine has changed so that he got two shots instead of me having to pill him. DN3 is coming over Sunday to set up the feeders so that only Maddow gets the expensive food. Vet said that will make a big difference. Maddow always comforts Amelia when she gets home from the vet. She is busy hissing at him and he is totally confused.

I didn't get the house at the senior living community that I wanted. There will be another, but it was very discouraging. Did you know that "discourage" means not having courage? That's me. I am so scared of this whole process that I have embarked on. Meanwhile I took a tumble down my 3 porch steps. I had donated the contents of 12 bins of Christmas decorations that were hiding in a basement closet so today I washed those bins. I lined them up along the edge of the driveway to dry. Penny took a dislike when she saw them and darted sideways as fast as she could, landing me on my knee and left wrist. I broke a wrist not too many years ago with a fall less hard than this one. But I'm fine now. Nothing even hurts, and there is no swelling, etc. (When I broke my wrist the other time, I had no pain and was able to drive myself home. But the swelling is probably what stopped the pain then.) Still, it reinforced my determination to leave this house before it kills me. The Salvation Army is coming Thursday to get the furniture out of the basement. I couldn't even give it away to poor people who are on NextDoor and Facebook begging for free furniture even though it is clean, comfortable, and has no damage. It is forest green so not the latest color. Whatever. Some people aren't fans of the Salvation Army, but they are the only thrift group in the area that will come in to get it. Susana, I am so sorry you did not get the one you wanted but do your best to believe it was for a good reason. One thing I have to tell myself constantly now - What is the least I could do? And this is a warning to myself to not overdo. What is the least I could do to accomplish my goal? I don't know if you saw Biden's quick fall after the long graduation, but I think what he did was simply turn too fast and too sharp because he was tired and hot. I do not heal as fast as I did when I was younger. I have a horrible tendency to try to do more than I am capable of physically or mentally, simply because I want to. And sometimes that leads to mistakes that take time to heal and/or are constly. You have the added complication of a small dog that is going to do small dog things as well. Take it slow. Remember, what is the least I can do? Maybe next time consider that not all bins have to be washed the same day? Maybe today does not feel like a safe bin washing day. If and when I get a dog I want it to be big and sturdy enough that if I have to fall on it or vice versa, we both would be mostly OK. (TMI) I'll stop now but close with saying today seemed to be crazy day at work and even kind of on the bus route. Be careful and I hope your forest green furniture goes to someone who will appreciate it. Lol. I have never been a "what is the least I can do" kind of person, and I am 69. To be honest, that characteristic doesn't appeal to me. But you no doubt just worded it poorly and meant to say something like "You don't have to do everything all at once."

I am home from my appointment. On the way there, my right side/back started hurting. Long story short my symptoms could be a UTI or it could be a kidney stone. She prescribed antibiotics and told me if anything gets worse, especially the pain, or I start having new symptoms, to go to the ER.
It’s been years since I’ve had a UTI, at least 20 years. I don’t remember my side/back hurting the few times I’ve had one. But the way my body seems to be going haywire lately, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

If I have to pick one, I'm going to hope it's a UTI. I would prefer to pick zero, but that seems off the table at this point.

I got my new glasses script, will be ready in about 10 days as they have to send them out. I was able to use the new Silouette glasses frame I bought greatly discounted before the clinic closed. Otherwise, they are outrageously expensive, they would not warrant them though but that's ok. Because I had the frame $595 total. Almost everything was done with machines except the lenses selection and instead of some kid doing it the optometrist did. I liked the place and the doc and if the script is good will continue going there.
I bought the transitional lenses and you had a choice of 3 different width for the reading area so I purchased the one that went from side to side and not just a portion of the lenses. And I bought the glareless lenses so that was another $90. I LOVE my frames I had bought and the techs there couldn't get over how light they are like a feather. And they sure look better then these things I'm wearing.
I think we will find a dentist there too. Vincennes is known to have some very good physicians and their hospital is considered good too.
DD and I had time to go to Big Lots, I ended up buying a pair of shorty pj's, I will get some made but I need them now, so for $12.99, not bad.
We also ate dinner at the barbecue buffet that is really really good. Then we still had to go to the pharmacies to get pills.
I feel like I worked hard all day. Wanted to drop by the festival but DD said she wanted to go home. By the time I got here I was done too, not going anywhere. About ready for my shower and to just sit down and do nothing. I may go up after while and get us a sandwich or something or maybe not. She does want to go the the parade tomorrow so we will do that.
Oh and I have over $1000 in rewards on my credit card so more than enough to pay for my glasses and dental cleaning! Yes!

Mister said earlier today that he’s going to get his Dad this evening to give his brother a break. He’s taking him back home tomorrow evening. Dad’s niece that’s been acting funny with Mister and his brother since before their Mom died, wants to take him to church Sunday morning. She’s been acting funny with them because of all the lies Dad has been telling her about them mistreating him. She hasn’t tried to talk to either of them about whatever concerns she might have, she just is short with them and has an attitude.
So Mister and his brother agreed to let her take him annnnnywhere she wants to lol. They are both pretty sure that he’s probably going to do something crazy at church, and they are probably right. He was being extra at his wife’s funeral and burial, and he will probably be extra at church Sunday.
I am done for today. I wanna just go lay down somewhere.

Has any one seen those RoboTwist commercials to open jars? My RoboTwist moved out and is living with his de facto wife in the West Island. Anyway, I found a RoboTwist at the Salvation Army, still in the box, although it has been opened. Eight dollars. It really does work!

I also have never broken a bone or been stung by anything which people sometimes think it weird. T2 is 23 and she's never had an ear infection which is rare to make it through childhood without at least one.

I haven't been in a church in a bit, but when they pass the plate I would hit it with big $$ if I could be in a pew there this Sunday. I suspect you are right, and that man will be some really special extra. Maybe Ms. Attitude Niece can take him out for lunch after the service, on her dime of course

Tomorrow is a shower, another load of laundry, fill up my car with gas and try to find good asparagus to go with leftover lamb roast. Maybe get suitcases from storage locker.

Oh my, I can't even imagine a minor being employed at an optometrist's, even at the front desk as a receptionist. Perhaps the labor shortage in your area is even worse than here, worse than I realized. Or maybe it's a difference in state licensing laws?? I'm glad you found a truly professional location near you.

Just paid the credit card off again, try to keep that done about every week, don't want a balance on that thing hanging over my head ever.
And I have enough reward dollars left to pay for my dental cleaning and hubs too. And we can add to them as we bought the mattress set on the credit card too.
I bought some of the liquid bandage to put on DD's arm. I'm hoping that keeps her from getting to it and keeping the moisture of a bandage off it. It should help.
We will go to the parade tomorrow than I'm going to sew again. I want to make 2 more of the culotte skirts in some light weight fabrics like rayon or poly something that drapes nicely. I really like the way it fits and hangs, also like the length, and it was super easy to make. I can pair them with the super cheap Walmart shirts. The 2 pair of shorts I made fit nice and I will wear them but I like the 10 inch length shorts better. Just too old for the shorter ones, will add length to any new ones I make.
Just talked to hubs, he is getting ready to go to sons for dinner. He said they are celebrating little guys birthday Sunday as son is heading out again for some trip next week. I will be there for DIL's birthday, have to find something to get her.
Hubs didn't not get the extra lenses in his eyes when he had cataract surgery, I did not realize he did not do that. I am so aggravated at him, as he still can't see good enough and has these little old cheapie glasses around. He said I can still have it done was about $4500 extra, that medicare won't pay, I said well I want you to. Sometimes his cheapness is not worth it, darn. Son, is getting it done so he won't need glasses. My eye doc said my eyes are healthy, the optic nerve and all and my vision is corrected to 20/20. My left eye is changing more than my right eye though.
I am looking for a movie, then taking a shower. I quit for this day.

My left eye is changing more than my right eye though. I am looking for a movie, then taking a shower. I quit for this day. You mentioned a couple of days ago that your cats had fleas and other parasites. Do you think your DD maybe got a couple of flea bites that triggered her scratching? Maybe now that you put a treatment on the cats, her arms will improve. Of course, once they get fleas you have to treat everything to kill the eggs and break the cycle. It's a real pain which is the reason I always tried to stay ahead of it by treating the cat before he had them. I hope your home remedy gives her some relief and, if not, the prescription cream you bought

I didn't mean a kid literally. I mean some of the people who assist seem to be doing more and more of what the optometrist did but not at this practice. I liked what I experienced. Very professional, orderly, and organized, you could tell they knew what they were doing. And they were very automated with some equipment I had never seen before. There are several docs in that practice with different specialties. It was in a beautiful old downtown restored building. Vincennes dates from the 1700's.
My grandmother's family was prominent down there. I haven't noticed lately, but they used to have a big building on the main street with their name painted on the side, they were into retail businesses too. I think it may have been torn down. Both sides of her family were well off but she married a poor man and they had 11 kids. Her family helped them a lot mom said.
I noted the movie theater has become a restaurant, but they had restored the marquee and it was all lite up, pretty neat. And there are lovely huge old houses Many restored but some in a sad state. William Henry Harrisons house is there he was the 9th president but he only lived a month. He caught pneumonia at his inauguration. He was the one that marched to Tippecanoe for an Indian battle and went right by where our house is. The cemetery behind us has a soldier buried back there that was killed by Indians here on his way north. Also a university there which is much bigger than I realized. There is a huge building dedicated to George Rogers Clark down there on the river. It's really gorgeous and has a big park surrounding it. Also a military museum, DD and I toured it, had no itdea it was so big and comprehension. And a huge Catholic cemetery that is very old, my grandparents and her family are buried there. Yet they have some modern things, I saw pedestals with electric cars plugged up to them.

No, my cats didn't have fleas. But I saw they were scratching a bit more so I treated them, we have never seen any around here on any of the animals. I do worry about other parasites is why I treat them. Believe me I would know if there is one flea in here as it would find me. This is the only place I have lived we never seemed to be bothered with fleas, not sure why.
DD has always dug as her skin. I don't know why nor do the docs. Anxiety or what, her skin is not dry. I think years ago she did it out of frustration. She will stop for a long time then for some reason she starts it again. She has scars all over her arms, years ago I had a doctor practically accuse me of doing something to her, said it looked like cigarettes burns. Man, did he P me off, I told him go back and check all her medical records and history and with her case workers. Damn She did it to her breast one time before I noticed how horrible it was. So ever since I at least weekly look her over, she doesn't realize what I'm doing. It was down a couple layers into the skin. I got her to the doc and we got it healed but it took some time.
I have lots of issues with DD you wouldn't even think about.

How is our freezer space looking these days? Asking for a friend of course. DH has decided to go decaf, right after I placed a coffee order I'm off to place a new order for decaf and research crime scene cleanup If you start with the latter you won't need the former. Just saying.
