When Mister got home, he let the dogs out to run in the backyard and was on the deck with me. Out of the blue, he said “SHIT!” and took off running out in the yard to Boy. Boy was choking on something and Mister managed to get it out of his mouth. That darn dog! He puts any and everything in his mouth. I’m so glad Mister was looking at him when he started choking. I can’t imagine what would happen with Mister if something happens to that dog. He’d probably lose it for real. And what really scared me today was that the night before last, I dreamed that Boy died. I didn’t and won’t tell Mister about that dream. Last night my stomach started acting up a little after midnight. When I first woke up and got out of bed, Boy had made his way to the top of the bed and had his head on my pillow. Even though I don’t like that, I had more pressing matters to concern myself with. When I laid back down, he snuggled his face into the curve of my neck. I was too miserable to bother trying to make him move. He always starts out near the foot of the bed, and often during the night, he inches his way up toward the head of the bed. Can you say spoiled rotten? And Boy is also being the good empathetic dog he is, and sensing your distress, he tried to comfort you in the only way he knows, by snuggling. Yeah, spoiled too, but mostly sensing your need IMHO You are 100% right, don't tell Mister about the dream and don't read too much into yourself at this point

I now know more about horses than I ever did and some of it invokes pictures in my mind I would have been fine never seeing. Oh, and just reading about it I can "smell horse poop. LOL.
On the good side: I had a flashback to one of the very few times in elementary school I was late: I had become so engrossed in watching a horse being shoed (is that the right word?) that I lost track of time until I heard the church bells strike the hour - which was when school started. To be that young and carefree again...

Opti - is that Moon Shadow on your arm in your new picture here? Yes. I will try to get a better one. That's also my old and only blue striped apron in the pic as well.

To be that young and carefree again... Watching a horse is magic at any age. I was late to that party (late 30's) and will never lose my love of them. I've done everything possible involving horses and all their bodily secretions and, while smelly and occasionally painful, it was also amazing. A horse loves with all its heart when it loves.

Some nice person mowed the lawn at the gray house for me. I rode the mower up to do it and couldn't believe it was done. So I passed it forward by mowing half the vacant lot next door. Then I came back home. Across the street from us is a stop sign where you can turn either way on highway 58 a state highway. They mow there but there is a light pole, couple of signs also, so they leave a lot of very tall weeds. You can't see the cars coming so I cut all the big weeds down with my trimmers. Don't need an accident there during the festival. I usually cut those down every year.
I thanked whomever mowed for me on the local town forum. Likely someone that knows hubs, he does nice things for anybody and everybody around.
I went to my pain doc, he said where his rejection rate used to be 10% now under Biden its 75%. I didn't say anything, no point, they have enough problems practicing medicine the way things are anymore and maybe things are worse. But he got my 30 day scrip, he said let me know if you don't get it. His nurse said I would not tell anyone else this but order them more often and put them back. She said I know how careful you are taking them. She said it would not surprise her at some point if you can't even get any. The doc said he has some patients that are suffering horribly and can't get what they need to help them, he just shock his head. I said my punishment for trying not to use much of it and doing anything else I can for pain. He asked if I wanted to get an xray for my leg where I hit it with the side of the pickax, it looks pretty bad, but it's just a big bruise. I have a huge red one on my arm where I bumped it. Blood thinner sure makes your arms look awful from just minor bumps. thankfully I have some makeup that covers them up pretty good.
I had to borrow a pair of summer jams from DD. I need to sew some but can't get to it. I mowed a bit more of the back yard so it all looks mowed from the front. 2/3's of it is mowed. Then I need to mow down at the trailer and that house too. I used to work my tail off keeping all these places up when hubs worked away.
I need to fix DD and I a sandwich and I'm just done for the day. Going to try to go to bed earlier tonight.
My kitties are staying out almost all day now. Smoke was out from 9 to 5, he is sacked out by my leg and even snoring a bit. Tigger was there before him. 2 tired little kitties.
I am having trouble getting the place Tigger scratched last week to heal. I had a bandaid on it because I was bumping it but that kept it soft. So I took it off and now I'm putting merthiolate on it, if it has not healed in another week maybe something I need to see about. I am just bruised all over, LOL!

I’d actually forgotten about the dream until the incident today, so I didn’t and won’t dwell on it, and definitely won’t tell Mister about it.

You shoe a horse or he has been shod.
I always wanted a horse. Heard from dad too much money and he would have to fence the field. Heard from hubs too much money to care for them. So now I'm to old to ride so never got one. I would have loved to had one.
What I wonder if you have to do all this to take care of them how do they make it in the wild? Or don't wild horses live very long?

That’s awesome that someone mowed the yard for you. I truly believe that when you put good out into the world, good comes back to you. When I first bought my house, I’d never used any kind of lawn equipment. My Mom went with me to buy a lawn mower and showed me how to cut my grass. I bought a Weed Eater and it was a steep learning curve learning to use it to edge my yard. It took forever for me to learn to get my lines straight and even. One night I came home from work and somebody had edged my front yard for me, along my driveway, the curb and the walkway to the front door. I could tell as soon as I got to my house that someone had done it. I had no idea who’d done it, but I figured it was either the police officer at the end of my street, or my neighbor across the street. They both knew I was learning to take care of my yard (it was lush and beautiful back then) and had been giving me tips. It turned out to be the police officer that did it. I did eventually learn to do it correctly lol.

So two puppies plus rain plus mud results in a huge mess and two baths.
Learned that the hard way.

Or don't wild horses live very long? The wild is a very different condition. Take the native herds across the west. There's no need to trim hooves that are worn down by rock and gravel daily. No grain or hay, just native grasses and the soil it grows in wears down the teeth. Not much worm load when the horses roam over a large, semi-arid area versus small lush pastures. No, they don't live as long as our domesticated herds. Drought, freeze, lack of pasture, disease and injury take a huge toll. Many foals don't live beyond 1-2 years. Mares die in labor; stallions die in competition.

People there know what we have gone through with the lady. And also know hubs isn't here so someone decided to help. I said I just wanted it to look good for the festival. They start the parade right in there. Tomorrow going to try to get some more stuff off the front porch.

I'm so glad you rigged up that special closet for your meds if you're going to stockpile your opiods so your DD can't get into them again. Just be sure the doc and his staff don't let word get around or all the junkies in your area will target you because those pills are gold on the street, especially with you and your husband being gone a lot of the time now.

Sounds like DN3 and his family will be coming here on Sunday. Told them I have a date at 5:30 PM.
They need to pick up a mattress for the son. They got him a new bed and the mattress is horrible. Maddow will not be happy. He thinks that is his mattress.
He is also going to put together two things for me that will be of great help.
Now that her school is coming to an end, they are planning their honeymoon. Said reservations will probably be made this evening. Her son is going on his annual fishing trip in northern Wisconsin with his dad's family.

tonight's evening news has been interesting, for a couple of stories I'd love to link but which aren't available yet. actually, now that I think about it, I'm not linking one of them. but, when the other becomes a live link, I'll grab it for discussion. it's re: kindergarten age, and that CT wants to raise it. I've got opinions on this, as a September kid.
the other one is about a woman who was found dead in a hotel parking lot in the town where my parents still live in a hotel........ I've checked in, it's not my mom. but when everyone gathers at my house before we all hit the oldies concert in a couple of weeks, we're all having a serious CTJ moment about them not ringing in three fucking years in the hotel b/c they can't agree on where they want to move.

So Dad has barely been home a week and he has some company that loans money to people with bad credit debiting his account.
I’ve gotten to the point that I just listen. I understand where Mister is right now, because I was there with my Mom when she first came to my house, trying to save her from herself. That is what Mister is doing with his Dad, even though the circumstances are a bit different, because my Mom didn’t have dementia and Mister’s Dad does clearly have something going on with his brain.
So now I feel like it’s just best for me to try to be there for Mister and wait until he accepts that he can’t save his Dad from himself. I understand why he wants so badly to try, because I’ve been there myself. My Mom lied on me to anyone that would listen, after I moved, saying I just abandoned her. But she didn’t tell the kind of lies Mister’s Dad does, that can potentially get someone in legal trouble for elder abuse.
I’ve given him advice about resources regarding elder care and suggested he find an attorney. Idk how much he’s followed up with that, I think his biggest problem is still accepting reality regarding his Dad, and following through with all of that and putting things in place officially, would make the situation more real to him, and he’s not ready for that. This time last year, his Mom was alive and his Dad was still “normal” as far as the image of him his parents upheld. So a whole lot has happened in what is a short amount of time, in the grand scheme of things. Things really started falling apart after his Mom was first hospitalized last August, not even a year ago.

Things really started falling apart after his Mom was first hospitalized last August, not even a year ago. wut?? I'm sorry, I don't have experience with this, but can whoever has POA freeze his credit so he can't pull shit like this? I don't even know if places like that pull credit, either.

So Dad has barely been home a week and he has some company that loans money to people with bad credit debiting his account.I’ve gotten to the point that I just listen. Probably not but if Mister has his dad's SSN and birth date he can just log in to the credit unions and freeze it. I doubt dad is savvy enough to unlock it and good luck proving it was Mister because you're not supposed to give people that information. I'd at least lock it so the types of company he's keeping can't steal it.

YAY! Has he been there yet? How did it go? How's Gus doing now? Better, I hope. Sorry about the cost, but happy for Gus! Well, he's done, but it wasn't a fun afternoon. It was about 92 degrees when I got home so I opened up all the barn doors wide to get some air flowing through, then went into change clothes and get the xrays. Out of freaking nowhere a storm came with massive rain and wind. I of course had all the barn doors open, so there was a lake in the aisle by the time I finally was able to make my way out there.
Gus was a shit. A complete and total shit. Minis are hard to trim anyhow because they're so close to the ground and their feet are so tiny, so when they're fighting you tooth and nail the entire time it's 100X worse. The guy calmed down a little at the end, but he said if he's like that next time he's getting the "Shit Horse Rate", which I imagine is a rate so high you don't call him back ever again. It sucks because I want him to be able to take his time and do a good job, but we had to take a lot of shortcuts just because Gus wasn't having it. But he's sorta done anyhow. He said he definitely needs to get done again in about 4 weeks and wants me to do some things to treat his feet until then so they're not so hard. I'm thinking...well...I better start calling you tonight to set up an appointment if you think he should be done again in 4 weeks! He looked at the xrays and wanted me to send them to him, but he seemed to know pretty well what was going on and it was going to take a while to get things corrected. The inside wall on one foot was nearly an inch longer than the outside wall so he's thinking there could be ligament inflammation from that alone. Add in the chronic laminitis and the Cushings disease and he's kind of a hot mess.
Me and my rescues. Ugh. It's never easy, with Gus, is it? Dang. I'm sorry. Hopefully, things will start to improve now. 🤞 🙏 🍀

And if Mister is on the account he can get a stop payment on the loan.
At this point who gives a flying F if dad goes into collections. He isn't going to be needing his score. He needs cash.

I was always cool with the mower, but I never learned to use the weed eater without eating up my shins with it too. When i bought my house, my yard was the nicest on on my street, if not the nicest in that part of the neighborhood. It was important to me to learn how to take care of it, because I didn’t want my neighbors to say “that yard used to be so pretty until that lady with them kids moved there”.

First time I used a weed eater I was surprised the house was still standing! I love mowing but I hired kid two doors down to weed eat!

You can't set Mister's timeline for grief and acceptance of his losses, and when he will be able to cope with them. At this point, you can only hold him tight in love while protecting yourself and your finances from any blowback from his situation. And that's the hardest damn thing to do when you care about someone like you care about Mister

Mister is trying to figure it out now. I think with some of those type places, as long as you have stable and regular income, and give them permission to debit your bank account for payments, they don’t care about your credit. If that’s the case, I’m not sure that freezing his credit will matter.

I'd close the bank account too. I understand Mister is trying to come to terms and grieve the losses. My uncle's situation is worse than it could have been because my cousin didn't want to be involved.
I understand it's unpleasant but when you know your dad is being scammed and mom is having to borrow money from the church to pay the bills, you have to suck it up and do the unpleasant things.
It was not one of my better experiences telling my grandma she had to quit giving her son money because she gave him so much she didn't have enough left for her own bills. My dad backed me but it was 100% unpleasant. It was one of the harder things I've done in my life.

When we bought this house back in '95, DH and I were both still working and sharing the yard stuff. He immediately burned off to go hunting for a week so I was out raking up 9 millions leaves and met all the neighbors. Come spring, I headed out to mow as did my female neighbors. DH said we looked like Stepford Wives 20 years down the road he said we looked The Witches of Eastwick. He was right the second time around.
