You are such a wonderful person, that this makes me sad. The fist guy I dated after my divorce, swore he loved me. What I got out of that experience is that a person might really think and feel they love me, but if it’s not in a way that makes me feel loved, it’s not good for me. Same thing with the guy I dated before I met Mister, who I refer to as the crazy man, he swore he loved me and at some point, I started believing he really did….. in his own way. Which was not in a way that meant I could have a healthy relationship with him. We got along much better after I insisted we just be friends, and once he got it through his head that I was serious, he became one of the best friends I’ve ever had. Mister’s definition of love wasn’t the kind of love I needed early in our relationship. But even though I really liked him, I had been happily single for so long, that I made it very clear that I was just fine before I met him, and still didn’t mind being single, so if he really wanted to be with me, he had some growing up and work to do. I guess he really did feel like he loved me, because he did put in the work to be the kind of man I was willing to have a serious relationship with. He can still be an asshole sometimes, but I am secure in the fact that he does want to do whatever he can to help make my life joyful. When or if we ever do get married, us being good partners in life is more important to me than being able to call him my husband. I’m just sharing my experiences as a woman that was single for years, that sorted through my thoughts about men who have claimed to love me, but I wasn’t feeling their type of “love”. And I am most definitely not trying to knock you or be negative about your choices. There are obviously some things you value in your marriage, since I get the impression that you’ve been married a long time. I totally hear what you are saying about both your past relationships and your partnership with Mister now. And I am not blameless either. I should have spent some single years, sorting through my mother issues, before I married. But I was too insecure to do that so I loved hard on the few guys who ever showed any interest in me. As I have learned to say about my mother, he does the best he can. Yes, it's 50 years August 31. I wish those had been better years for both of us but that's the way it goes down sometimes. There are worse things and I've seen my friends live those worse things. I'm not unhappy and I don't waste time on regrets because I'm better off than many but I'm not blowing smoke either. The thing I most wish for the young women of now and the future is that they have the opportunity to get comfortable in their skins as single women before making other choices and learn that they have lots of choices. I'm glad you know your husband is full of shit. I'm sorry you had to learn it though. My biggest regret is never being single. I was too young and immature and didn't know myself let alone another human being also trying to figure themselves out. The secretive nature of our relationship in the beginning created gross codependency. The saddest part is dh looks at those years as the best, most romantic time of our relationship.

I just went to my Cajun & Creole FB group and found this gem "went off of this recipe here. Start by sautéing the 2 onions and one bunch of the green onion down in the oil. Let them go for a bit and then add in the garlic. Sauté them down until onions are translucent. Pour in the white wine and simmer down until most of the wine has cooked out. This guy was using his own creole seasoning that had no salt in it so that’s why he added so much salt. I didn’t really go by the measurements when I seasoned, just seasoned and tasted and seasoned a little more later." It scares me that I understand what he's saying Yup, let 'em go for a bit.

DH and I were talking this morning about a conversation I had over the weekend with my parents, sister, and aunt, where my dad had some something nice for my mom and sister spoke up and said "that took 49 years of training. Its not easy training a man, ask me how I know. ". I told her it is not your job to train him, that was his parents job. You can not "train" a fully grown man. If he is an asshole he is always going to be an asshole, maybe with a little icing on top but still an asshole. That led to how I have always be independent. I was fine on my own, raising 2 kids by myself. It was hard yes, but by then I knew there was no way I was ever going to put up with another man's bullshit. I was much better off alone, until I met the man who is perfect for me. Sister has never lived on her own. She bounced from parents to boyfriend and back again too many times to count. ETA : Yes, I told her she chose the wrong man. I kinda disagree with your thoughts on ”training” a man. I do believe that my situation with Mister isn’t how things normally play out, but I also can’t deny, given my personal experience, that when 2 people are very serious about growing as individuals, so they can live their best lives individually first and foremost, it’s even better having a partner cheering you on while you work to get to that place The bottom line of what I’m trying to say is that it really doesn’t matter what people say or think about your husband and in my own situation my life partner. If my partner really loves me, he will work on the things in our lives that really bother me, and I will do the same for him.

Yay for 2nd driver being home! Instead of spending two and a half hours driving to and from and sitting at a scout meeting I got to mow the pastures and trails, take a shower and eat ice cream .

Wow. I just can't even imagine. That must have been so stress kiful! I'm glad that he's going to be okay and that they gave you the meds you need for him. I'm really glad you made it home safely. I hope you're able to get some rest today. Hugs ♡ Thank you! I kinda love this after reading others' posts, that you are glad I made it home safely. I live in an area where I didn't even bother to lock my door when I ran him out of the house (i typically do). Coming and going in the dead of the night doesn't worry me except to watch for coyotes and racoons when I get out of the car. Although the flip side is that there is only 1 emergency vet within my county. Even my fairly big city has VERY limited resources, when it comes to emergency vets. Or perhaps I'm just not familiar, since I had ferrets, not a dog, or cat. But I think we only have one, or two, that are open all night. (I could be wrong though.) I really was glad you made it home safely! Probably that was somewhat based on how I feel about the area I live in ,these days. I lock my door every single time I step out the door. Even if it's to get groceries from my car, during the day. (I once caught a neighbor coming out of my apt, as I was returning- going up the stairs. I was probably gone 8 minutes and she had come upstairs, been in my apt and was leaving, all in that short period. Yes. I called and reported her to the police.) I hope your puppy is improving! Stay safe!

Frizzy hair. Yeah. I'm so far down south if the humidity is less than 90% that's a nice day! I don't have actual curly hair. Without heat styling at best I'd be considered wavy/slightly curly. But, my hair is thick, and coarse, and now it's long. I'm a walking poof-ball if I just wash and go. Mostly I just use a crap ton of product and heat treatment to get it to some sort of straight or blow-out type style. Which lasts for about a day. Then it's either styling it up, or doing a quick once over with heat treatment for the 2nd day. Third day hair is always up. Unless it's winter. I think about two or three times during winter I can rock a third day hair style? I had relaxed hair since at least 14 or 15yo. So when I stopped relaxing it a few years ago, I had no idea what to expect, since I’d never dealt with my natural hair. When I was in my early teens, I learned how to relax, color and cut my hair myself. After I started my current job, I started going to stylists for all of that and shampooed and styled my hair myself between the 4 or 5 weeks between visits to a stylist for a relaxer and trim. Other than a diffuser, I have not used heat on my hair in 6 years. I am pretty sure it would be gorgeous straightened and flat ironed, but I am so afraid of heat damage to my curls that I still haven’t straightened it or had it done. A big part of my natural hair journey has been accepting my hair as it is. When I first had a big chop, the back and sides of my hair were exposed in all their kinky glory. I was not comfortable or confident with those parts of my natural hair being exposed, but I faked it until I made it, to where I didn’t care what other people thought. My hair is part of the way God made me, and I make no excuses or apologies for no longer trying to make my hair be what it’s not, and using chemicals to make my hair do what is “acceptable” in our society. When I kept my hair short in a tapered style, I LOVED the freedom of being able to shampoo my hair when I took a shower, and just being able to shampoo my hair as often or whenever I wanted. With relaxed hair, water is an enemy, and shampooing and styling it takes at least 2 hours, and that is if you have access to a hooded dryer. I have one, but I’ve always hated sitting under a dryer for an hour or so, at home and in salons. Deciding to stop relaxing my hair and wear it natural, was me rebelling against issues I had with Mister, and issues I had with things happening in our nation. It was pretty much an F you, if you have a problem with me and who I am, I’m not gonna back down…. Imma just give you even more of me and the ancestors I come from. I have power that comes from my ancestors, and if a person gets caught up with me wearing my hair the way God blessed me to have it grow out of my head the way it does, that just means to me that that person’s level of vibration and energy needs some work, and really has nothing to do with me and what I do with my hair. I always try to be honest here, so I will admit that Mister doesn’t like my natural hair. He prefers long, straight hair, and regardless of how long my hair might grow, it will always be curly and not straight. So to me, that means I might as well wear it cut short in a style I like, since it shrinks so much anyway and the only thing that Mister would like is if it’s long and straightened. I keep saying (to myself) that I’m going to get it straightened and flat ironed one day, but that is up to ME, and has nothing to do with Mister’s preferences. You will pry my heat treatments from my cold dead hands I do have friends that have actual curly hair. And even with this oppressive humidity, heat treatment is something they take very seriously. They tend to load up on non-heat activated products. Because down here they need something for the frizz, but they also have to be careful how they treat their curls. The issue I have is I don't have actual curly hair. On an air dry it is wavy with some wannabe curls. And enough frizz to triple the volume. The expansion due to frizz is really a bit insane. My favorite products are heat activated, and heat treatment is the best frizz reducer so far. Just tends to be a short lived solution in this weather. When I do curl my hair, I have to be super careful. I can't use cold rollers anymore. Last time I used cold rollers on dry hair overnight, it took me 3 days of shampoo and dry to get the curl to let go. If I use a curling iron or hot rollers it falls out after two days and a single wash. Which is much better than 3 days of shampooing and drying. I refuse to do cold rollers ever again! And putting cold rollers in wet hair is a gigantic no!!! It would probably take me more than a week to get the curl to let go. In some ways it's easier to deal with now that I have it longer. Because the weight makes it fall down on itself more. So once I blow it out or flat iron it, it kind of smooshes itself down at least a little bit. The other thing is even though the humidity is the frizz driver, it also gets stupidly hot. Which means ponytails, French braids, and buns don't look so ridiculous when it is 97 degrees and 100% humidity. I make do, but the frizz is a daily fight.

Woo, the end of the school year whirlwind is beginning to pick up speed! Last weekend DS5 was away for a String Fest (his only one in HS, sadly - Covid cancelled the past three years). DH went as a chaperone; I don't think they saw a lot of one another since DH was in charge of some younger boys, but DH did get to see him unguarded with friends (something about DS5 and M hand-in-hand on the way to the bus as if they were off to see the wizard). DS4 drove me down for the concert on the last day, and drove us all back home; it's nearly 2 hours south of us. Lots of discussion of past String Fests, DD1 first attended in 2001. At some point over the weekend DS5 casually mentioned that he'd asked T to the prom. So we were discussing buying her a corsage, maybe coordinating with her dress color, etc. Today I was chatting with T's dad; he didn't mention anything about them/prom, so I stayed mum too. Tonight, DH filled me in on a new revelation from DS5 on the long ride back from his internship: DH mentioned he was surprised T didn't already have a BF. Dad, T is gay! Oh...that puts a new spin on stuff. Not clear if T's family knows or accepts that she's gay, or if all their friend group know. I just love the way the kids are completely accepting of each other as they are , and comfortable enough to go to the prom together as friends w/o worrying over how it might look (it's sad that I still have that reflex in the back of my mind from when we were his age). One concert Wed, not sure when the other is. A few awards ceremonies Mon, Tues, next week. The prom early June. There's probably Music Awards sometime, too. ETA: Mon can't be right, that's Memorial day. Hmm, maybe the next week, gotta check again.

I said yes, but give me a few minutes, before you do. I need to run down to the office. She said okay, then came up immediately. She stole some of my Xanax and who knows what else. Of course, she didn't admit that. As I went up the stairs and watched her come out of my apt, carefully closing the door behind her, I said, "Boy, that was convenient! Wasn't it? I tell you to wait, because I'm leaving and that's when you came up?!" She claimed to be worried about me. BS! She was known for stealing, lying, smoking weed she couldn't afford and bumming meds off anyone she could. Not exactly a GOOD friend. She stole my next door neighbor's package, that was delivered. It turned out to be a blue ray player. She said, "Well, he hadn't taken it inside, so I thought he didn't want it." I knew he thought it wasn't delivered to his apt, because I'd just been there and he was screaming at someone on the phone about it. So I made her return it. Although I don't know what she said, when she did. Other than, to ask if she could keep it, since he'd reported it missing and a new one was being sent. SMH! Unbelievable.

Pink, DD can't eat these items you might want to keep them out of your diet. She can't eat seeds, nuts, or popcorn. They can cause a doctor visit. Also if she feels bad but not enough to go to the doc she goes on a liquid diet for a couple days. Things like apple juice, chicken broth, beef broth. To me it sounds like your not eating lets your system clear out. I also make sure she does not have spicy foods. We alternate breakfasts for her. Some days a banana and milk with strawberry flavoring, some days grilled cheese, these seem to serve her well.
I am having problems with my feet. Neuropathy has felt like it's getting worse again the last few days. The tops of my feet are getting numb again. It had really improved after I quit taking statins. Wonder if the Nextlizet is now causing it? I may have to increase the duloxetine, the neuroligist told me I could if I needed to. I'm taking 40mg tabs, but he gave me some 60mg too. His office is now at Indianapolis, if I get worse he will likely have me find a new local one. I have lost 2 good ones now, the first retired, and this one relocated to a bigger city and the IU med center.
Now we are losing our cardiologist in July also. And I lost our beautician. I was able to get in at Ulta to another we go to sometimes there, hope she stays.

Good morning, philosophical and curly invisipeeps, tending your partners and your hair. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day is beautfiul and bountiful. Today I finalize all the packing, get Franklin the Dog groomed and bring him and his accouterments to ODB's for the duration, then clean the house for us leaving tomorrow morning. Big day for a big tomorrow. I refuse to worry about my curly/wavy in front hair with the straighter thick back that is cut in layers. It is what it is. I did pack some Deva hair product to tame it somewhat. Yesterday was a big day for pictures. Red star sun in the morning and in the evening, plus a Great Egret and a Great Blue Heron fishing in the dawn. And I had the best pistachio ice cream. Great Egret: Great blue heron: Morning red sun: Evening red sun:

Laundry. Everyone except about 8 of us have departed the ship. That makes it a really good time to slip in and take up all the washers I need. People will start arriving at 11, so I’ll have some time. We had to go through immigration in Norway at 9:30 this morning.
Changeover day is really interesting to watch. I have to give kudos to housekeeping, they’re like a well oiled machine that changes out the room. Each room gets new duvets and pillows, so there are mountains of laundry in the halls waiting to get hauled away. I guess that most of the rooms (other than our room) is done on our section. We get don3 last, which is cool.
Still haven’t heard back yet about whether we can continue onto NYC. I can’t imagine why not. Viking fills a cabin that is empty, and all they have to do is change our flight from international to domestic. It’s a win on everyone’s part.

Praying the weather stays nice today and my knee etc. do not act up too much. Need to start doing horse stance to put everything back in some sort of alignment. Wore my new sneakers more yesterday. The old ones are from early 2021 and haven't been good for my feet and back for at least 6 mos. Nervous although I slept decently. 5 to almost 6 hours, but I took everything right away instead of the night before.

Decided to take today off and return to work tomorrow.
Checking email from my phone, and work sent out an APB for 2 auditors needed in TN 6/6 - 6/8. Another 8 hour drive from me. I really don't want to do another trip so soon, but it would definitely take one of my yearly goals above and beyond. Since I am still out of the office, I will let it sit a day or so to see if anyone else volunteers.

Good morning!
Gonna jump on the hair thread. I have fine, dense (so much hair), wavy hair, which means it's frizzy if I so much as look at it. I really like Briogeo hair products (I use the Farewell Frizz and Curl Charisma lines) and Trader Joe's has a surprisingly great shea butter & coconut oil hair serum and hair mask. I really like the L'Oreal 8 Second Wonder Water; Amika also makes a really great lamellar water treatment. Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam is a must for when I put in effort to dry my hair naturally. I've had success with the plopping method.
Most days I tend to let my hair air dry most of way and then heat smooth it so I can go 2-3 days between washings. In the summer I have more luck with letting it air dry naturally and letting the humidity help style it. It's all just hit or miss. Some days I use a method that works and the next time I do my hair it could be a giant failure.

Trolling Ebay for American Girl dolls. Abby wants one really bad but JFC they are expensive! I bid on one new in box for $40. We'll see. If I win I am putting it away for her birthday.

Ugh. Carrot's piano teacher quit at the conservatory last week. She's going to keep offering lessons in her home, and at first I was like, "cool, no problem", but now that we have a lesson tonight, I'm dreading it a bit. She lives about 12 miles from my house which isn't horrible, but it's about 3 miles on a gravel road. Plus, it's drive home, do chores, get settled, then head out again. As opposed to before when lessons were right across the street from school and Carrot went on his own every week before I got off work.

Finally got a dental appointment for July 6. My dentist joined another practice after her clinic location burned down and they have weird hours because they are sharing facilities. She only available afternoons and nights and I'm a morning person. Plus the new location is many miles away, probably 35-40 minutes drive

Got Franklin the Dog back from the groomers. He looks all spiffy in his bandana around his neck.

Feeling stupid.
In Bergen today. TD isn’t feeling great, so I decided to go looking for an ATM. We are in Norway for awhile, and need some kroners. Gorgeous sunny day, as long as you’re in the sun, then it’s chilly. I grabbed my jacket, wallet and took off walking.
I walked down the entire inlet, just over a mile. Found 2 ATMs, neither bank but oh well. Tried to withdraw cash and both denied.
It really, really helps if you use your ATM card rather than your credit card. I’m such a dumbass.

I do not understand corporate American at all. A coworker of mine just had to have a meeting because someone complained to our boss boss that he was "yawning too much" which makes us look unfriendly. WTF? We work in a LAB. And most of us work in a lab precisely because we are "unfriendly"! Who the hell in this lab has enough time on their hands to complain about yawning? Shouldn't they have been sent back to their desk and told to help one of us who does not have the luxury of spare time to make complaints about yawning? This is why I can never be a manager. I would either laugh or throw something at the complainer.

I've done that, The Walk of the Penguin Mich. I have debit and credit cards from the same bank. I got a new card in the mail so I cut up the old card and stuck the new one in my wallet. When I went to use it at the ATM, the transaction was denied. Only then did I realize I had destroyed the wrong card. #dumbass

I will see your credit card in the ATM and raise you trying to scan your driver's license to get up to your secured floor at work.
Another person got on the elevator and took pity on me, they scanned their badge.

You might check fb marketplace for AG dolls. I've seen some for <$40 there but you gotta be quick.

As opposed to before when lessons were right across the street from school and Carrot went on his own every week before I got off work. We followed dc piano teacher and I don't regret it, but similar - where she was teaching is 2 miles from us on side roads we can bike to, her house is "across town" through construction. It makes lessons 60-75 minutes round trip vs. 40 and it adds up. I don't even do the driving there since it's during work hours. My dad drives dc 1x a week for guitar and dh drives them another day for piano. Back to back would be nice in some ways, but it's still too far to go home so the driver would be stuck waiting in the neighborhood. Ds piano teacher left as well and I would have moved with her but was so glad that he liked the replacement and his last teacher wasn't offering at home lessons. Being overly scheduled only works when most everything is in our little bubble.
