I know at least a few of you have curly hair. have any of you tried LUS brand products? the most recent set of personalized ads have all been for this stuff, finally retiring the ones for REV/AIR hair dryers. I took the curl quiz, and it gave me a product suggestion. I'm curious if it's worth the price tag of $50 for 3 8.5oz bottles. I'm thinking about the upcoming interviewing I need to do, and how I want to make myself look presentable for that.

My hair is longer, so if I use the right shampoo I get some natural ringlets, LOL. I use Pantene Curl on the days I want to get that ringlet look.

I also want to add that I usually use the types of shampoos that protect my hair (you know, being over 39 & all...). I like ingredients like argan oil, and things that WON'T dry out my hair.
It's funny how as a teen & young adult you avoid products with oil, and then after a certain age you're adding oil to your hair.

His wife really has no idea what she would work at. He would pay for her to go to school but her english writing and understanding just isn't that good. And some days she wants to and some days she doesn't. She is a wonderful artist and could make money from that but he can't convince her she is good enough, she is. So I don't know.
I had to make Smokey leave me alone. He was sitting beside me while I was pinning on the waistband of the culotte/shorts and pulling the pins out of the fabric. I was afraid he would swallow one so took them away. He didn't want to quit so I had to make him move. Don't know what that was about. Then he lay on the ironing board and before that on the waistband so I couldn't get it. Worse then trying to sew with a kid. He is upstairs right now. Came up to get a drink so down I go.
I had to turn my heater on in my sewing room, it was cold down there. It's 79 out so ready to turn it off, have the basement door open.

I use Redken stuff. My hair sucks all the moisture especially in the winter.
If I actually care I either use a diffuser with the hair dryer or I dry it out straight using a vented hair brush. Last night was I do not care so I washed and went to bed. I think it's finally dry now.
Southern humidity will undo all attempts to make my hair straight. So my hair straightener has never made the trip to Florida. There's no point in fighting it. And I would definite my hair as more wavy than tight curls.
I Googled the brand. I've never heard of it and I guess there's always unhappy people.

Its not always about needing to work, IMO. Mom's need lives too. I'm sorry if this offends some people, but women also need to need to exist outside of their spouse and children. I love my kids, but SAHM would have killed me - especially when you are taking about school aged kids. There are options out there, especially now when most places are looking for workers, to make your own schedule. Or volunteer, anything to get the f*ck out of the house instead of not doing much all day but spend money because you are unfulfilled.

So I just ordered rubbers, or waterproof shoe covers if you will, for DH. He wears very specially modified shoes for his sugically corrected feet. If they get wet on our cruise that could be an issue. I expect we will be trooping through rain at some point. Hoping the rubbers work out. He could put them on his spare older pair of shoes. DH and I are on an Alaskan cruise in two weeks. I bought a new pair of "rubbers" to put in my suitcase. DH already had a pair. We also use them to go pheasant hunting when it is wet. Cheap trip insurance against rain, I figure. Who else wore the red rubber boots with the fold over elastic buckle to school? Sometimes with bread sacks inside if they had a leak! I'm going on an Alaskan cruise end of July. What kind did you buy? Link please if you don't mind. Will you use it for glacier walking or just for rain?

I do worry sometimes about Kiddo being an only. We purposefully choose to keep her in at least one extra-curricular activity just for that reason. She's actually doing two right now, but that is because she wanted to. We also put her in summer care. Granted, with my flexibility at work, I don't need child care every day during the summer, but she very much enjoys this summer camp program and it keeps her interacting with other kids. DH and I have noticed it looks like there are at least two other families in the neighborhood with kids in her school. Sometimes they are outside. I'm not quite ready to let her loose to roam alone, but I think we are close to that being ok. It is always a balance trying to keep her engaged and fulfilled while still allowing time for her to be bored. We don't want her thinking the purpose of life is to be entertained at all times. We also don't want her to feel all alone either. As far as working outside of the home - it's a non-issue. I'm the primary breadwinner. Even if I wasn't, it wouldn't end well if my DH ever tried to tell me having a life or career outside of the home wasn't an option. Just simply would not end well at all. Thankfully, he wouldn't ever dare try such a thing. I wish I had been an only, but we were also in a lot of extra curriculars growing up. I think kids are always going to end up some sort of messed up, no matter how hard you try. All we can do is do the best we can with what we are given.

Imo, the key to curly hair looking it’s best is a good cut, and not every stylist knows how to cut curly hair correctly. The next important thing is using products your hair likes.

I appear to blowing everything else up, so why not this? my hair is definitely not cut to optimize the curly, though. I haven't bothered trying that since HS, esp since my hair is on the longer side. when I said "long enough to donate" a few posts ago, that meant it was heavy enough to weigh down and tame the mop. I would generally then wear it a la Gabrielle Carteris' character in 90210 back in the 90s. half up in a barrette, with the (heavily moussed) curls just flowing down my back. the last time I was wearing it like this, I made the appointment to chop/donate the day my hair got stuck in my car door on my way to work. I think where I'm at, if this is a "style and go" thing, I'm all for it. because pulling it all up into a scrunchy isn't all that professional for interviews.

It’s very humid in the summer where I live, and I use a product that defines my (tiny) curls and keeps my hair from getting frizzy. It’s light enough that it might work for your hair if frizz is a problem. Check out Manes by Mel on YouTube. She’s a stylist and has long curly hair herself. I’ve ever used any of the products she talks about, but she has some good styling tips. I’m pretty sure your hair is more like hers than mine, even though the basics are pretty much the same as far as caring for curly hair. If you check her out, let me know what you think.

thanks, will do! my stylist tells me my curls best resemble Debra Messing - when done correctly (by someone else) it's all gorgeous. and when it's straightened, you'd never know it even bends. lol... idk if that helps. oh, and wvugurl26 I'm still kicking myself that I wasted luggage space on my hair dryer and flat iron for the Cancun/FL adventure. I used the flat iron at the airport hotel in Boston b/c it travels better (and I'm *still* tramuatized ~20y later at being asked if I could have my hair patted down.....it was up in a banana clip for containment. I took the clip off and shook my head like Simba so nobody would touch my head with the same gloves they'd been wearing ) but neither left the suitcase after they got repacked.

Yeah been there done that on getting the hair searched. I made them change gloves. In April I left it all crazy and contained it after security. I seem to get picked all the time for randoms from the pre check line. Meanwhile my DH stands on the other side and cackles like a hyena.
I can contain it fairly well in MD humidity when I care. Southern humidity is a whole different animal though. This is another area where covid busted my give a damn.
My niece is in hairdresser school and finishing this fall. She's my new savior.
There's a picture of me kissing the bricks at the Indy track and I was like holy big hair even though it was pulled back.

As an adult, I've had some really great times in my life where I could explore possibilities and learn who I was. Sadly, those times were with friends but not with my husband who was raised to be an emotionally distant person. Just my nickel's worth FWIW.
Your hubby may not say what you need/want to hear, but actions do really speak louder than words.
From some of your posts, based on some of his actions, I honestly believe he deeply loves you even though he may be "distant" verbally or even physically (hugs, etc.)
I do think DH loves me to the extent and in the way he knows how, which is very limited by his upbringing. I think he fell in love with me initially because I was so different from his first wife and from what his parents wanted him to marry. But then, like a shiny toy, he didn't know what to do with someone who is the total opposite of him. I'm high energy, social, outgoing, non-traditional, eager to explore new things, people, places, and he's very low energy, utterly non-social, very rigid in thinking etc. I adore beaches and water; he hates beaches and water. I think it's fun to meet new people; he thinks everyone on the planet is out to get him. He tells people I'm really smart; he tells me I'm really fat (he's right on that). While claiming not to care what others think, he cares intensely about it and is miserable that we don't have the trappings of great wealth and that I'm not the size 2 in the TV ads. I waited years for him to join me in life, but he chose self-inflicted misery, so I moved on to find my own tribe and what happiness I can. He sits and waits until some blip appears on my radar of life, and then says "I told you so, people will always disappoint you, you wasted your time on them......." I wish he had chosen to be a happier person, but I can't "fix" him. I already told him I plan to enjoy our trip to Alaska next month. If he wants to enjoy it, fine. If not, that's fine too.

Thank you! We got home at 2:30am PST. He's got drugs and will be ok. No surgery needed. It was a combo of getting hurt and having a little virus and it all just overwhelmed his system. You can leave for a little bit but they want you back at least an hour before your appt. Remember, they are only an emergency clinic, not a walk-in clinic. No shots, well pet checks, etc. Just "my pet may not make it" emergencies. Wow. I just can't even imagine. That must have been so stressful! I'm glad that he's going to be okay and that they gave you the meds you need for him. I'm really glad you made it home safely. I hope you're able to get some rest today. Hugs ♡ Thank you! I kinda love this after reading others' posts, that you are glad I made it home safely. I live in an area where I didn't even bother to lock my door when I ran him out of the house (i typically do). Coming and going in the dead of the night doesn't worry me except to watch for coyotes and racoons when I get out of the car. Although the flip side is that there is only 1 emergency vet within my county.

I finished my 2 pair of shorts, culottes. I haven't worn anything resembling a skirt in so long it looks funny to me. And orange isn't my favorite color. But I had the fabric and shorts and tops would be the best for it so that is what I made.
I'm half way through a lavender and white top, just a basic. Most of my clothes are plain. I like color a lot but I'm just not into fussy clothes. I really need to change up a bit, I'm too predictable. But I always felt so fat that I stuck with basics. Honestly, I still feel too big for anything fussy or frilly. One of the reasons for the orange. Now I'm working on a lavender pair of shorts and a pullover top.
I will do the edges with the comfort stitch machine. If you look at your knit tops and many pants you will see 2 rows of stitching used for hems. If you turn it over its with a kind of serger stitch that combines them both. That is what this machine does, it hems and does both sides at the same time. It is difficult to start on fabric, so I will stitch the front and back together on one side, then do the hem all the way across both pieces, then sew the remaining side. It makes the garment look purchased and not home sewn.
I was looking at machines last night, holy smokes. My Memory Craft 6600 on ebay is $2k, they no longer make them. I gave about $800 or so with a trade in. Even the serger I bought just a few years ago for about $400 is now $1299. No wonder people aren't sewing. And the price of fabric is terrible, patterns can be bought on sale, only way I do so no big deal on those. I only use Guttermen thread, its' a German brand and excellent. I bought some of the regular threads and they would shave off on the needle as it went through and eventually break, so all I use. Quite some time ago I bought a big roll of professional tracing paper from a supply house in NY. The wimpy stuff from Joann's hardly even makes a mark. But I'm not sure the place is still in business, no matter I have plenty.
I use some of my old favorite patterns over and over, should trace and cut them but I find replacements on line from resalers. Vogues are my favorite, better cut, better fit. Simplicity is just that basic, Butterick a little more and ok, McCalls are good too. I've only used a few Burda, they are different and not like the rest. Might be great if I got used to them, the seam allowances are different.
I came up for a break, time to go back down and continue. After I finish this top and shorts making a pair of PJ's. I will try them on and take a picture later. My hair is awful. Wed we get cuts and I get color so it should be better I hope. Even fixing it the way it is it won't stay nice a day or two. We let ours go way to long this time. But I couldn't get into anyone.

The dealership put a "complimentary" quote on my car seat when it was in for servicing today. They offered $20,000 for it which is pretty reasonable based on what Blue Book and Car Guru show. And I just got an email offering me a new Impreza for $168/mo for 36 months - too bad I hate the Impreza. But I will look at the Outback and several others

Wow, a new Memory Craft 6650 which looks like my 6600, I don't see much difference except the sewing bed is a bit wider. Mine has a tray I can add for wide projects. Anyway it is $3000. I can't even imagine.

The kitties left me a mouse in the garage guess that is their gift for the day.
I am looking forward to going back up. I looked up Westport, Wa and DD and I plus the kids will go there. Looks like good food and a place to buy fish. It's about 70 miles but that's ok, will make a good day trip. We will run around and do things while up there, she is looking forward to having company. And I'm looking forward to making DD get out and go and being with grandson. Son is traveling so much, don't know if he will be home much. Hubs said he is going to have to go while he is up, but we knew that.

There's a picture of me kissing the bricks at the Indy track and I was like holy big hair even though it was pulled back. I actually like big hair. I was looking forward to having big hair when I stopped relaxing mine. 6 years later, I still don’t have big hair. I kept it short for a few years, in a tapered cut, and I quickly learned that my hair won’t “stand up” like a lot of women’s hair that’s a similar type to mine will. The curls on top of my head are looser than the sides and back, and the hair on top has always just flopped over instead of standing up. I started letting it grow in early 2020, when I couldn’t go to the barber because of the pandemic. I’ve cut it myself several times since then, so it would have some kind of shape. On top of that, even though it’s growing and last my shoulders now if I stretch a curl out, it still shrinks so much that you can STILL see my ears and the nape of my neck. The back of my hair is past my collar bone if I pull a curl to the front, but it looks like it’s just over an inch long when I let it go and it springs back to where it was. That is not an exaggeration. At this rate, it will probably be another 10 years before I have big hair, if then. I am tempted now to go get most of it cut off on the sides and back, and go back to a tapered cut. Except that there’s the issue of the bald spot that appeared several months ago. That spot is bigger than a quarter, but the hair above it covers it. When I am away from home, I constantly reach back to make sure it’s still covered.

Hated it. Donated most of the bottles. Also tried Brad Mondo's curly line, and I kept the wave foam, but overall waste of money. I'm using the viori shampoo and conditioner bar line for curly hair which I like but can't tell you if it helps my curls much.

I try to use things like the brands OGX or Renpure. I use more Renpure stuff because I can get it cheaper at Walmart and once upon a time at Harmon/Bed, Bath & Beyond. I do try to protect my hair now that I color it regularly. Still, it needs to be affordable, so depends if something pops up on sale when I need it or want to try it.

But I will look at the Outback and several others What did you hate about the Impreza? A former coworker had one, so I was going to put it in my list of possibles for the near future.

You are such a wonderful person, that this makes me sad. The fist guy I dated after my divorce, swore he loved me. What I got out of that experience is that a person might really think and feel they love me, but if it’s not in a way that makes me feel loved, it’s not good for me. Same thing with the guy I dated before I met Mister, who I refer to as the crazy man, he swore he loved me and at some point, I started believing he really did….. in his own way. Which was not in a way that meant I could have a healthy relationship with him. We got along much better after I insisted we just be friends, and once he got it through his head that I was serious, he became one of the best friends I’ve ever had. Mister’s definition of love wasn’t the kind of love I needed early in our relationship. But even though I really liked him, I had been happily single for so long, that I made it very clear that I was just fine before I met him, and still didn’t mind being single, so if he really wanted to be with me, he had some growing up and work to do. I guess he really did feel like he loved me, because he did put in the work to be the kind of man I was willing to have a serious relationship with. He can still be an asshole sometimes, but I am secure in the fact that he does want to do whatever he can to help make my life joyful. When or if we ever do get married, us being good partners in life is more important to me than being able to call him my husband. I’m just sharing my experiences as a woman that was single for years, that sorted through my thoughts about men who have claimed to love me, but I wasn’t feeling their type of “love”. And I am most definitely not trying to knock you or be negative about your choices. There are obviously some things you value in your marriage, since I get the impression that you’ve been married a long time.
