I got a pretty decent night's sleep (if you ignore the dream of someone riding an Appaloosa inside a building with granite floors) but woke up occasionally to the storms. When I got up this morning I found a couple of small limbs down and 3.5 inches in the gauge. Neighbor's fence blew down again so the fence wars are on for real. Fence wars? Two adjacent property owners are disputing who should replace a fence between them and who should pay for it. Texas law is silent - no fence is required, no obligation for owners to share cost. One has a history of constantly harassing and threatening her neighbors over a variety of issues. New-ish neighbor (5 years) is tired of the BS and will not be bullied by her. He has raised up the fence at least 15 times so far this year, and attempted to splice it, brace it, etc. without assistance or thanks from her. He's done. She's SOL because she's lazy, her dogs aren't leash trained and she's used to just letting them run in her yard. We all know she will now just let them do their business in the garage and I don't mean she'll buy pee pads and clean it up. Her house is decrepit and filthy beyond belief, as she is. When a crew came in to replace sheetrock after pipes burst two years ago, they discovered a very large, very dead rat under her sofa. Her only comment was "I wondered what smelled". For the record, she is also extremely well off financially

The neighbor was going to line something up, but I haven't heard if she got a date set yet. We have to get multiple horses together to get someone out. Nobody wants to drive out to do one horse. Really hope that works out and a date is set soon so Gus can start walking normally and feeling better!

finnime , that pic is one of your best! I love the colors and stacks of sailboats. What sort of camera do you use? Thank you so much! I just use my cell phone, a Galaxy S22 ultra. It does have one of the best cameras available but I got it primarily because it has a stylus, which my old fingers prefer.

As for the fence war, I know this is NOT funny, but it would make a great episode on the TV show "Neighborhood Wars".
Even though you're not directly involved, sorry you have to put up with such childish behavior (hers).

Had a 15lb pug fly into my lap followed by a 80 lb lab. I look like I slept in the kennl and they kept missing each other. My leg is NOT part of the game.
Two stupid dogs I got here.

Oh boy. Reminds me of my own fence issues a couple of houses ago. Not fun. You'd think a fence would be a good thing but it just switches up the arguments with neighbors who will argue about anything.

Tell me about it. It's like having 2 little kids. Macy's a petty bitch. I gave the twins treats and she waited until Jackson ate his to eat hers. Now he's sitting here whining because she has something and he doesn't. I knew she would do that.

It was warm and humid yesterday. I had the screened sliding glass door open. When I went to bed I closed the sliding glass door and tried to open my casement windows. They wouldn't budge, swollen shut by the humidity. I had to turn on the AC to cool and dry out the house. Today it's cooler and less humid. The windows opened right up. Crazy. At other places I've had the humidity set off the smoke alarms. Don't love the humidity.
I did a shift cuddling newborns in the NICU. Now, baking cranberry orange muffins, and later going to visit DS, DDIL, and DGS.
Happy Mother's Day all!

bag is packed, laundry is folded and put away. dishwasher is loaded except for the pot of rice that's cooling on the stove. now I'm relaxing outside getting some sun and doing crossword puzzles. I still need to shower before I head out, aiming to leave here around 4 or so. Google maps says 1h15 to get up there today. that works

I was going mattress shopping, I gave up and ordered them online. I did Tempurpedic again, pretty high but with a sale got $1200 off the set and free white glove delivery. Hubs said he is for that because the things are beyond heavy.
I bought a split king base, the 2nd model up out of 4. Pro Adapt medium mattresses, I was afraid to get the bottom one. This is the middle of the 3 qualities. I didn't even go try them, we have had the other temps for over 20 years I'm sure and still using them in Washington.
I ordered directly from Tempurpedic, it says around the 26th, but if they don't get here that quick its ok. This may be our Christmas presents, LOL!

I asked for tips on how to do better after these first two rounds. I think I would need to order by midweek instead of waiting until Thursday or so. Plus even if you pick on Wednesday but schedule for Friday/Saturday you are going to get what might be available on your delivery day. None of the deliveries are late, so even during our expected crunch month I would have to go for Saturday delivery OR pickup after work. This was not a tip. It is my experience with online shopping. Sorry if my post was confusing. I asked the online shopping and catering dept person for tips on how to have better luck with *my* order. She suggested ordering around late lunchtime as unfortunately ordering after they close makes it a first thing in the morning order in this system, so should I order again before I am fully back at work, I know what is best practice for this grocery store for me.

My car is now cleaned on the inside. And I washed my hair. It's really hot out, 81 and humid. I'm going to go spray down my front porch and dry the windows out there.
The dust from the fields is just thick on the back screened in porch, it needs cleaned too, but not sure today. Don't want to sweat down my clean hair.
Getting ready to cook dinner, I'm likely having fried potatoes, baked beans, and cheeseburgers. I cook a burger for me with no bread or cheese, just eat pickles on it. I have been wanting baked beans, hubs too so sounds good, will get them in the oven.
I need to go through my freezers and see what kind of meals I can make out of what I have before I do much shopping. Also will be gone after June 27th for about a month, so need to be careful. We will need to make a meat run soon though.

I'm thinking of online ordering again too. It helps me not make impulse purchases.

I would have to try them out as mine is years past when it should have been replaced. I wish they were cheaper, but I noticed most of the cheaper mattresses in a box are firm, and I know that is not for me. I need medium soft or related. What I got originally was fine. Of course, now there is a plethora of options, and the prices aren't any cheaper than years ago. I will need to replace the frame and the rug underneath at the same time. Another reason getting into a new place at lease end would have been nice. Could have taken the default frame, bought whatever rug I could afford and get a mattress that I can sleep on again without trying to make a in bad shape mattress work.

Spent 15 minutes on Google watching videos on workings of a toilet, then spent 30 seconds to fix toilet in DH bathroom ( clean water line had moved to wrong place). Pretty proud of myself.

I bought a new mattress (good quality Simmons Beautyrest) about 7 years ago, and a few years back I started to notice it was not as comfortable for me as it once was. I think it was because I'd bought it for comfort for back sleeping and I was spending more time side sleeping. I bought a 3" thick foam mattress pad to put on top, and it did the trick. I will replace the mattress pad and try that out before I spend money on a new mattress.

Went to brunch and then DH took me plant shopping.
I found three perennials that need full sun so I put them in the yard where other plants have baked. If they survive I'm finally done with the front of my house.

I will replace the mattress pad and try that out before I spend money on a new mattress. This is what happened after I had surgery. My brand new, pretty expensive mattress set became impossible to sleep on. I was just about ready to go mattress shopping, when I had a very early morning appointment with my surgeon. Since I had a 4 hour drive, I decided to go early and stay overnight. That night, I slept better than I had in in 3 months. I tore apart the bed to find out what mattress brand the hotel had. I got the sheet off, only to see that there was a very thick mattress topper. I stopped at BB&B on the way home and bought the thickest, most expensive one they had. Problem solved.

I am inordinately proud that I still have a couple of working brain cells floating around - I just managed to get newsletter photos from Google Drive to DropBox.

Bemoaning the unfairness of life. Why, oh why should a person who started to go gray at age 18 (I am in my early 70s now so more than half a CENTURY ago) and white haired have every hair on her legs still be black. The least those hairs could have done is turn white as well thereby reducing the need to shave, but noooooo.... Unfair I tell you! Before anyone tells me that this is not all that much of an issue in the big picture of life: I know that. I just needed to get the grousing out of my system

Neighbors down the block have an incredible live Mariachi band to celebrate their mom and grandmother - grandfather turned 100 in January so grandmother can't be far behind. The music is amazing

I have decided on and found the stuff I want to be used around the raised garden bed in the backyard. DS and I will go get it tomorrow morning to get started. Im not sure that Mister has figured it his part, the wire fencing, but I really need to get the seedlings planted and out of the house.
I am planning to put river rocks around the container, and use stones to contain the river rocks. Mister wanted to use railroad ties to contain the rocks, and I adjusted that to landscaping timbers after some research, and that led to me deciding to use stones instead. Mister doesn’t know that I changed my mind on wood, but that’s okay lol.
If I am successful with my gardening this year, I already know I will need another container next year, so I can rotate crops. What I am trying to do this year will leave room for another container next year, and if we decide to expand it after that, it shouldn’t be too much of an ordeal.
I talked to DS earlier today and told him that what he’s offered to help me do involves a lot of heavy lifting. He said he didn’t expect me to do anything but point to where I want stuff anyway. Nooooo, I will work too, I just wanted him to know what he was getting into by wanting to help me. He said he has a strong back, he can do it. I said, but I don’t want you to break your back doing this, I need to protect his back for his sake, and in case I have other projects in the future and need his help. He seems to be almost as excited about putting this together as I am. I love him anyway, but I really, really appreciate him for how he’s always willing to help me do stuff.

What I’m doing right now is sitting outside with Kiddo while he plays with the basketball goal. Mister is gone to the cemetery where his Mom is buried.

There are times I would love to try grocery delivery but I don't know how that works for stuff like meats and poultry, perishables like milk and eggs, or frozen stuff. Do they give you a window for delivery? I don't want my chicken breasts to be lunch for one of the roaming dogs or cats, or have to toss frozen foods.

This is Newbie playing basketball with Kiddo. She LOVES playing basketball with the children. She can’t shoot the ball, but she is the rebound Queen. They just have to chase her and get the ball before she punctures it with her teeth lol.

It's been a good weekend. In-laws yesterday, my family today. Went for a run with ds and have an easy dinner planned for tonight. DC is baking cookies for teachers.
