I made it to the hotel, got myself connected to the wifi. I think I'm going to take a puzzle book down to the lobby bar and not be holed up in my room by myself.

Mrs. T just called me and asked if we have some heavy duty aluminum foil, Mr. T is smoking some chicken wings or something and they ran out. I told her I had some foil, but it didn’t say heavy duty, and to meet me outside after Mr. T said he’d take whatever he could get.
I met her outside with the 2 different foils I had and she kept saying she’d buy us some more. NO! They are such awesome neighbors that I was just happy to be able to give them something they needed.
If she comes over here with some aluminum foil one day, Imma be upset. I’ll understand why she did it, but it will still upset my nerves. I’m not a tit for tat kind of person.
I asked her last week if she cooks with the herbs I’m growing. I’ve researched how to store the herbs, but I have planned to grow more than we will need for our household, because I planted some of them to help deter pests on the plants I really want to be successful with. She said she cooks with all the herbs I mentioned and I said that if I can manage not to kill them, she can help herself to all the herbs she wants. The same goes for whatever vegetables I manage to not kill.
I don’t want any return for any of that. Being able to share homegrown herbs and vegetables will be totally awesome by itself, if I am make it happen.

There are times I would love to try grocery delivery but I don't know how that works for stuff like meats and poultry, perishables like milk and eggs, or frozen stuff. Do they give you a window for delivery? I don't want my chicken breasts to be lunch for one of the roaming dogs or cats, or have to toss frozen foods. Yes there are times for delivery, I just choose a convenient time for me. All of the cold and frozen foods are put together. The guy that delivers to me brings the bags into the kitchen for me

Instacart texts when they start shopping, about substitutes, and as they are leaving the store to deliver.

Mother’s Day has been great to me. DH made eggs and sausage while DD1 made pancakes for breakfast. Afterwards, both DDs and I went to my mom’s to give her a plant we got for her and for her to see the girls. I called and spoke with my MIL on the way. We stayed at my mom’s for about an hour. After we came home, we had lunch then DD2 went down for a nap. DD1 and I went for a bike ride in our neighborhood then came home and made cupcakes. DD1 wanted to and she wanted my help. Like NomoreDramaQ1015, I helped because there will come a time she won’t want it. DD1 did make frosting from scratch with limited help from me. DH got the steamed crab legs I wanted and took care of dinner for himself and the girls. It’s been a great day!! I hope all the other mothers of YMAM have a great day too! ((((Hugs)))) to those missing their mothers.

I appreciate the info on grocery delivery - it sounds like a solid option if I'm down for some reason and physically unable to get to the store. In the meantime, it looks like 3 groceries for me this week as I've been putting off the Asian grocery run far too long and need sesame oil, sesame seeds, Japanese curry cubes, Indian chili powder, Chinese black vinegar, coconut milk, teriyaki sauce, Siracha, fresh ginger, and good ramen soup packets.
Aldi will be bananas, apples, navel oranges, radishes, bell peppers, and maybe celery (if they sell it as one stalk, not two), fire-roasted diced tomatoes, tomatoes with green chiles, chunky peanut butter, turkey kielbasa, boneless/skinless chicken thighs, and a pound of frozen raw shrimp.
Our big grocery store will be 2 zucchinis, celery if Aldi doesn't sell one stalk, green onions, 2 yellow onions, packets of tuna in water, canned black-eyed peas, mayonnaise with olive oil, house-brand shredded wheat cereal, frozen okra, and Jimmy Dean frozen breakfast sandwiches.

Sometimes I read the title as, "What are you doing right, now?"
That causes me to review things I am now doing right or better. It can even be as simple as using the box they come in to attach the Swifter wipes.
I was kicked in the teeth pretty hard back in 2003-2004 with an illness and bad depression that lingered for ten months and then resulted in a Lupus diagnosis. It was pretty much rapidly downhill until about 2019 when I started pain management & therapy.
Things have been getting slowly better since then but it really is something I have to learn to manage and live with. I still have trouble admitting I can't do it all but I'm getting better at accepting help.

It's a very important perspective for us all I think.

Looking for a Sony Walkman type cassette player - anyone have any thoughts of where I might find one online? I have some cassettes I'd like to listen to while working around the house or walking, etc.

SoupAndStew - I've always loved playing with words and punctuation, even before the now famous:
Panda eats, shoots, and leaves vs. Panda eats shoots and leaves.
I was able to give up the double space between sentences but as you can see, I am having the hardest time giving up the Oxford Comma.

Went to brunch and then DH took me plant shopping.
I found three perennials that need full sun so I put them in the yard where other plants have baked. If they survive I'm finally done with the front of my house.

It's amazing how wonderful it's working and how little time in my life it takes (one pill per day vs infusions). There is hope!

This is how we spend our time. Now I'm wishing for the olden/golden days, where we had time to focus on quality.

I asked Mister to move the raised bed container to where he’d figured was the beat place for it, I told him I hadn’t tried to figure that out, because I thought he was in charge of that.
He seemed irritated and moved it out in the yard. Ummmm, Idc where it goes, and if the location isn’t right for whatever reason, Imma expect you to fix it.
Whatever happens with the vegetables I want to grow this season, I am very clear on what I said I would do and what Mister said he would do. I asked him several times if he was sure that he was ready to do what he said he would do to try to protect the vegetables, and he kept saying yes.
So if he doesn’t do his part and the animals eat what I am trying to grow, I’m going to be looking upside his head.

winding down. I had a pair of cocktails and a Caesar salad down in the lobby restaurant, chatted with some folks, and maybe taught the bartender how to make a Cosmopolitan. the first one had sour mix in it ( what?? literally, the only thing I could taste) and the remake came in a chipped glass. I noticed as I took a sip, directly opposite my sip. I only pointed it out so she wouldn't put it back in the rotation....but she didn't charge me for it. I got a refill when I ordered my salad. I tipped her well, and took my water with me back to the room. going to do a couple of things for the am, and then put the sleep timer on the tv. this is seriously a site visit, and is not going to be a regular thing without it getting expensed. let's see how tomorrow goes, I guess.

I took a 3.5 hour nap from 4:30-7. I totally feel like I'm drunk or something. Just really out of it. I'm trying to brace myself for the week that will be. I have at least four jobs to apply for this week.
DH has a first round interview tomorrow. Everyone did a great job with mother's day. I ended up not going out to a coffee shop. Which was fine. The missy and I played. I was able to get in some time working on a wool mat for DD1.
It was a nice day, and it seems like it wasn't a day filled with saccharine platitudes.
And my nail polish is still in good shape, after last week's manicure.

Hi everyone! Long-time lurker diagnosed 10 years ago with Lupus and taking Plaquenil. May I ask you what drug this is?
Glad to hear how well it’s working for you!

I fixed what we all wanted for dinner. Had a cheeseburger for DD and hubs, plain burger with pickles for me. Fried potatoes, I really like them but didn't eat much, they were good, will reheat the rest for lunch tomorrow. And baked beans with bacon on top.
Asked if they wanted a cake or pie, DD said apple pie. So I peeled and used the bag of apples I bought to eat, they were starting to get brown spots. I ate a piece, likely all I will. I don't mind making cakes and pies but I don't eat much of them. It is good though.
DIL and son called, she says I bet you went to an expensive restaurant today for mom's day. I said actually I cleaned my car inside and washed and set my hair and cooked. They didn't do anything either.
She was saying I don't know what to cook, so son was helping. I told her when I get back up that we can make up menus and try to find things we can just buy fresh ingredients for or use up our stockpiles and eat. She liked that idea. We can go out somewhere to eat maybe once a week, but it won't be high end restaurants.
She wants to know when we are coming, I think she gets lonesome. I said she and her sister had a big falling out. I sure understand why, but hate to hear it. I doubt son does, because they did go to all kinds of expensive places and he wouldn't go, so I know he doesn't miss that. She admitted her sister spends everything she makes and she has a good job. The fight was about her sister borrowing $4k to go to Russia from her to see her sick dad and then telling her after the fact she would pay it back 2 years later!! I'm betting her sisters hub wouldn't give it to her because he didn't want her in Russia, but I'm betting he paid it back. But I just listen and stay mum, not getting into the middle of that. I don't know of many people that could keep up with them money wise. They eat out on weekends at resorts and expensive places and take trips all over. But his kids and hers are raised, so different, she is 10 years older. But the things she said to DIL were bad, not her family, and on and on. All I said was I'm sorry it happened. They have different dads.
But she did get it back and that was what the fight was over. Son said he was done. He told me before they moved that she and her sister would be into it, so no surprise. I am careful and just try to be nice.
She said she would be so happy to have us come back. She has been down every couple of days watering plants, she said quite a few are coming up in the yard. I just want perennials in a situation like this. I told her not to worry if some didn't get watered and died, but that is something she likes to do.
I changed our reservations. Hubs said he will go up maybe the first of June and stay till the 26th or so to paint the trailer and help son with doing dirt work in his yard, then get back to take DD and I to the airport. He said he would keep the kitties too rather than hauling them up there and back while we are gone. He and Tiggy have bonded and I figure Smoke will too, also company for him. So DD and I will fly the 27th of June and come back August 29. That will carry us almost to school starting up there. I asked hubs if that was ok with him, he said it should work fine. He is like mee, we like working on projects by ourselves anyway and he has LOTS to do.
I am working on getting everything cleaned up and maybe get rid of some more stuff. He is putting the baseboard in the half of the basement I got cleaned this week, then we will move stuff and I will clean and he will do the other half, so we hope to get that done.
I have already paid for our tickets, so in good shape there and will save enough so we can go and do some things. We will share expenses.
Then I doubt we go back up till before Christmas which will be fun. We won't be buying much for us this year after the beds, wow. But that is ok. And things I want to get for up there, I can get from craigslist and ebay which is so fun and cheaper. She likes doing that stuff too. So maybe it will work and I hope getting more immersed into english will help her too.

It will fit in one of those small fixed rate mail boxes ETA: I can hear it still turns but I have no tapes to test it. I do know that the radio part still works so the audio is still going but the tape reading, who knows. PM me if you want it. If not I'll just put it wirh the new Goodwill collection

Happy Mother’s Day Everyone! Very busy weekend for us, next weekend will be a repeat of this weekend as one of my nephews will be visiting from Minnesota. We will be celebrating my FIL’s 81st Birthday.
I am doing a squat challenge this month. Today was 130 squats. You rest every 4th day. Last day is the 30th 250 squats. I should also be doing sit ups, but baby steps.
I hope everyone is feeling well. DS’s girlfriend is really struggling with spring allergies.

I will really have to watch it the next couple of weeks. Prednisone makes me want to eat and eat.
I kept weight off for years after I lost it a long time ago, but one time I had to take 2 courses of it and gained it all back in a few months. I could never lose it again until taking this med, so I don't want to get back there again.
I know this evening I did ok, but have to be careful for the next couple of weeks, last half tab in the morning. I'm thankful I don't have to take it often.
Need to go to bed soon and hope I can sleep well.

I'm stuck living over 500 miles from home in a very closed off community and the peeps here really help. OMG - one of the ads is for a netting bag to use while bathing a cat. Only the head and tail stick out. LOL

Well I can tell that the tongs I bought so I could feed Crestie dead insects from a distance will take some time to learn. According to something I read on the internet, in their native habitat they eat wasps and hornets. So I decided if I found myself a dying wasp or hornet I would put it in his cage and see how it goes. Well before that could happen, somehow a hornet got itself between the screen and the glass panel on the outer storm door. Have no idea how they are able to do that. (This is not the first one that has pulled that off.) Thought this particular one had gotten itself free when I noticed the other day, nope, it simply expired from most likely the heat and lack of humidity. So I got it out using a glove and put it in Crestie's dish. He did not touch it, and I am not entirely surprised. Crested geckoes are movement oriented and I think I have only fed him crickets and the occasional superworm since he has been in my care. I did slip in a small slug about a week ago, but have no idea if its surviving off the water I spray in, died, or was actually discovered and eaten. I just tried and failed to put the dead hornet in the tongs and get Crestie to eat it. He was wiling to follow where the tongs were, but did not have a strong strike reflex nor were my skills of holding it in the tongs while moving the tongs much good. Dropped the dead hornet a couple times and probably will remove it from the cage after getting some sleep. Currently soaking his food dish to remove old food from it.

Good morning, energetic invisipeeps, gardening and tending to your health and homes and peeps. Welcome to Monday. I hope your day ahead is fulfilling and happy, and includes an option to imbibe a beverage of your choice. Today DH is bringing DSis and me to a tea house for afternoon tea. I'm looking forward to it, rehearsing for next week when teas will commence in earnest in the British Isles. Yesterday turned out not like I expected. DH, who had pneumonia a month ago and a concomitant course of antibiotics, had a very long coughing fit. I made an appointment at the urgent care center. I was thinking we didn't want to be flying with him still fighting this residual cough. At the urgent care he had an xray and blood work. The tests showed him to be still fighting pneumonia, only it had progressed. They sent him to the ER for IV antibiotics, and called ahead for him. The ER was a crazy as you would expect on a Sunday afternoon when regular doctors' offices are closed. We waited for a couple of hours. He had another set of xrays. He was brought back to a treatment room past a full complement of patients in the hallway on gurneys. They also took blood work. Because he is diabetic and has stage 5 CKD they tend to get a bit excited when they see his test results. The NP came to say DH would need to be on IV antibiotics, and would therefore need to be admitted. But! DH did not feel or look particularly ill. Twenty minutes later the MD came in to say he was going to be prescribed 2 heavy-duty antibiotics, orally, and that should be just fine. No need for admission. It took another hour or so but he was discharged with the first dose given and the rest on order at our pharmacy. The upshot of it all is that DH has double pneumonia and needs the antibiotics. He should be fine by the beginning of next week. He doesn't need to do anything more than take the meds, plus get plenty of rest. Phew. We wound up eating at a nearby Applebees. Mediocre food. Convenient. Then we came home to an eager Franklin the Dog. Franklin and I saw tiny dinosaurs on our dawn walk at the beach. The great egret was a surprise.

I 'liked' your post because, even though things got so bad, you've worked hard at making them better. And you're getting better at accepting help. All of those things are important. And realizing that you've made some progress is important too. I'm happy for you. Life isn't always easy. But it's nice to see improvement on occasion.
