Here you go, skeeter: The rowing crews are each 5 rowers and 1 captain who commands the long paddle used as a rudder and also sometimes as an oar. The whale boat race consists of rowing first around a small island, then around a "whale" - a large float: Above is the island. Here, they're rowing around the whale: You can see the hurricane barrier behind them. After they circle the whale they head toward a mooring buoy marking the Bob drop. Bob is an orange 10 lb float. They must circle the buoy, drop Bob then go to another buoy, circling it without using the rudder oar, then go back and pick up Bob before heading back to the start. Heading in to drop Bob: Back to pick up Bob. You must not use an oar to retrieve Bob. Then row like hell to the finish/start line. The pony tailed rower in this picture had her pony tail flip up with every stroke.

Silly question but - does the pharmacy deliver? Many do They do not. Going to ask if they will mail for the future, but might set up the chain pharmacy store across the street as a number 2 alternate for the future.Got super lucky and one of my friends in the complex had a short window to go there and back. So I stopped eating my non dairy dessert for lunch/breakfast and picked up my prescription. Now to eat and hydrate! Why not do that now instead of waiting? Now I admit I have no clue how hard it is to set up prescriptions. Is the other pharmacy near your work place? If you are going on leave from work and have no car I think I would want to make every thing as easy/convenient as possible. Just thinking off top of my head since I truly do not know your circumstances but for a few posts I have looked at.

I got some weeding done. I feel a little more accomplished. There were some parts that I need a shovel to break up the grass and my body just couldn't do it.
Boo.

Home Depot was a bust, I'm going to head over to Lowe's a little later. I was hoping to find lavender, maybe I'll have better luck at the other place. the trip wasn't a total lost cause, though. I made a stop at McDonalds for a huge iced coffee and some greasy food. pups split a hash brown. next up, clean the inside of my car. it's gross. I need to do that too. I vacuumed up most of the dog hair. I still need to go to the car wash and use their vacuum for the stuff that's stuck inside the carpet.

Because it is an unnecessary rabbit hole b4 I get FMLA and my short term disability forms in. I have no new impending scrips at this time, I have at least 30 days I think before I will need any scrips filled at all. I have a baby bank account nearby and I had to make it undormant so I could use it again and get some needed laundry quarters. Fleece needs washing for Moon Shadow today or tomorrow and I was a little short. Its already 4 PM and I just finished eating some veggies to round out lunch/breakfast. <-- no alcohol within walking distance, this is just wishful thinking of a glass of wine.

Just got a call that two neighbors blame me for their problems with the City about their houses and I will "pay" the price. I haven't carried in years, but I guess I better start again. I just hope they don't go after DH when he's walking or riding his bike but that's what cowards will usually do, go after the weakest link. I'm pissed and scared. OMG! I would move . Would not want to live there at all What is so attractive in that area that makes you want to live under threats like that? You’ve mentioned not feeling safe even in Your front yard at least in one post I live here because we love our neighborhood and its amenities, and because we couldn't find a comparable house for the money. And we're not running from ignorant azzhats

Isn’t this worth establishing a paper trail with the police? Not really - police would not be interested in the slightest. Sad but realistic

Another successful community shred day is in the books! We had good, steady traffic and only moderate drizzle part of the time. We had a couple of close calls with poorly driven vehicles but no one or thing got damaged. It was everything from one little plastic bag full to 1/2 a pickup bed full of boxes. Because folks are welcome to park on the side and watch their documents being shredded, a local doctor brought 20 years of old patient records. We'll probably repeat in the fall as we usually do.
My knees aren't happy about 3 hours standing on pavement but I'll live to shred another day

I don't know if any of you read Dooce.com.. I did for a long time. She was a mommy blogger, my age. Died of suicide.
That one is making sit and think a minute.

Hi! I'm a bit on the struggle bus. Trying to get the bus to stop swerving.
I did sleep 12 hours last night, and that has helped with my attitude this morning.
Fun stuff: Couple of weekends ago, DD#2 and I spent the weekend in San Francisco to go to the ballet. We were supposed to go in March, but she got sick. DH and I spent last weekend in San Francisco for baseball and time with friends.
DD#1 is buying a house. She's pretty excited about being "in escrow". They're supposed to close the week prior to Memorial Day Weekend.
I picked up Miss Granddaughter from day care yesterday. It's fun to hear "That's my Gigi!" when walking in to the lobby and the children can see the approaching adult before the adult can see them.
Other stuff: I have to fill ten teaching vacancies for the 23-24 school year. I've filled five. I've interviewed more people this week we just had and have more next week. I understand why so few people want to become a teacher in the US anymore, but it's making it really hard to run schools.
Dissertation is progressing, but, goodness, I wish it was done!

Today, we went to a cooking school, which was also a B&B run by this woman. She gave a very good class, I enjoyed it immensely and would love to go back and do one in more depth. The grounds are spectacular, including sheep. She said that she had 8 female sheep to keep the grass cut. Her neighbor had Simon and Garfunkel, they jumped the fence and she now has 5 lambs that were born late in the spring. She was NOT planning on increasing her flock, but guessed Simon and Garfunkel had other ideas. This was the place. ballyknocken.ie/

Fiddle head ferns should go extinct. I'm trying to decide what I want to do about mother's day tomorrow. Going to a coffee shop for a few hours sounds really nice. I need to be off. And the Missy can already throw a wicked frisbee.

I'm looking at my husband who doesn't like cats. Tigger that rode home with him is plopped on his lap and hubs has his hand on him, they both seem very happy, LOL! I think Tiggy and he bonded on the way home. I have never in all the years we have been married seen him let a cat sleep on his lap. I'm amused.
DD said how happy she was to be home. That didn't last long, today she said when are we leaving again mom, I told her not till the 27th of June. I need to see if I got the tickets I can change dates on, I intended to so I can extend it out longer.
I just spent $100 on groceries and very little to eat. I bought 2 packages of ground found, not quite 3 pounds, $20, damn. A gallon of orange juice from concentrate, $6.64, 12 sodas $7.99. And on and on. They charge the prices they are in Washington but people there make a lot more money. I noted at Walmart hardly any of the Mothers Day flowers were sold and they didn't mark them down. The roses are turning brown and even some of the other flowers are dying. I don't know how the people that are overweight are maintaining it. Maybe eating a lot of junk. I looked at 2 or 3 different cans of fruit at the grocer, store brand and they all said bioengineered food. I put them back. I will miss raising my own food. I wonder how long that one grocer will stay in our town. The fresh fruits and vegetables you need to buy when they first come in. But hubs said today you know you have to go to the city to do any good, he is right. So going to try going through things we have in the pantry. But I like fresh better.
We are both done for the day, cleaned up and fed. I didn't go to Subway that would have been another $30 or more so and we did eat out last night, got sandwiches at the deli and we had those for dinner. I watch our money, no sense wasting it. Going to have to do better with extra expenses, but its doable.
Ok, need to fix my hair and wash my makeup off.
And yes, I see we have a Denver Mattress in the city so I will check it out.
And I feel better now, was totally pooped out. So catching up my laundry.

We are doing nothing for mom's day, that's why we went out last night.
And I got me a cute pair of earrings for $12 and a purse somewhat made out of cork, cute also. I bought those in the city so I'm happy.
Got a lot done today. And fat kitty is still on hubs lap,I can't believe it. LOL!

Got laundry in the dryer. Since lunch was late because of my shred day thingy, we're skipping supper. I need to plan menus for next week. We have group luncheons on two days, so those will be really light meals for dinner. Tomorrow is floor mopping and newsletter work, plus replacing the window clings that prevent bird strikes on our large sliding doors.

Sister and BIL went to cousin's visitation last night. It was oddly set up. His 2nd wife was never accepted by his children, in part because of him not telling them he was seeing someone until he announced his engagement on FB.
So the wife was sitting on a couch by the cremains and the three adult children were on couches on the other side of the road.
I'm guessing this has been a trying 4 years for my cousins once removed.
The oldest is retiring from teaching this year. She can't sub until 4 months after the school year starts in other schools and for 6 months in her district. She can continue with extracurricular activities that she gets paid for. Makes no sense to me.
For now she is going the smart route and going to stay put. She's the executor and wants to get the estate settled before she makes a decision about moving. Her original plan had been to to move in with her parents when she retired and takene care of them, but she lost both of them before she retired.
Luckily, her dad had an auction after his wife died and really cleared out the inside of their house. Last summer he sold the acreage they lived on and all of the equipment as well as the house. So it's all in various forms of cash. Nothing to clean out and nothing to sell. He probably has some personal stuff at his 2nd wife's house.
Then she will decided where she wants to live. She said she doesn't want to live alone in the middle of nowhere with no family around as she ages, so my guess is she will move near Des Moines where her sister and family are located. She's done a lot of driving to the activities of her nephews.

Reading over a notice of a class action suit of which I'm a class member. It has to do with an old retirement account, a 403(b) I'd had in the early 90's. Dedly dull. Apparently I may be eligible for $32 or more. Adding this one to the shite pile for later consideration.

To think they used to actually harpoon whales from those boats! Seeing these modern recreations on the water, showing their size in ratio to human bodies and the body of water around them, makes it truly mind boggling that they took on whales.

OMG, I was right. Your pictures are stunning finnime! I cannot thank you enough for sharing them and not only are they beautiful, your narratives about them were highly educational. Since whales are so large, I never would have imagined whaling boats to be so small in comparison.

I had fun spending $5 at a garage sale this morning. I bought 6 t-shirts (two of them were Star Wars so I passed them on to one of my grandsons who is a fan), a Tupperware cake carrier, and one of those stands where you put plates to serve from.

DH just showed me an email from his cousin about another death in his family which sort of triggered a spat. I don't give a teeny-tiny squat if he does or does not reply so why try to hook me up in the misery of his family dynamics. You get a damn email, answer it, delete it, whatever. He just kept saying it was a "weird" email. WTF is weird? It has sender name (his cousin), subject (XYZ died yesterday), message (XYZ died at 89 of heart failure, last of ABC's children, not many of us left, take care of yourself)

Nancy summer sip from your nice post seems the surgery went really well!! No surgery yet, but thanks... this was a colonoscopy. It went perfectly. From the pictures, my colon looks fab!
Neurosurgeon appointment is June 9 -- the MRI and EMG (Electromyography, or needle test into the muscles of the leg and lower back) are the week of May 22. Blood work and chest X-Ray are already done. If he offers me surgery in June, I definitely plan to accept. I may have to sacrifice a swim meet or two, but better that than losing more of the racing season.

Once again I overdid it in the yard. Just got done soaking in a hot bath. I'm getting ready to enjoy an adult beverage or three and make some fried chicken. I only make it a few times a year.
