I'm not the biggest fan of HR but in the case of trying to apply for FMLA they are the best resource. Both you and the company can get in trouble if it's not done right. This is one of the few times your interests and HR align. A SO would not be able to help. You are not in a coma or any situation where you medically cannot advocate for yourself. You just don't want to. HR is only going to talk to you it's a confidential issue. If the company has an EAP I would take advantage of that too. They can help connect you with resources you may need. I do not have the strength to advocate for myself right now except in short bursts. Its not about want, is about years of experience how things go south during periods like this trying to discuss with HR and or bosses. I can type better sometimes than I can talk on the phone. Plus, you don't see all the stuff I erase or choose not to post.

soupandstew, is that a credible threat? I would be scared, too. I'm worried for you and your DH.

Just got a call that two neighbors blame me for their problems with the City about their houses and I will "pay" the price. I haven't carried in years, but I guess I better start again. I just hope they don't go after DH when he's walking or riding his bike but that's what cowards will usually do, go after the weakest link. I'm pissed and scared. ugh,I'm sorry. can you call your local PD and make a report so it's on record? little reassurance, but it would start the paper trail if anything were to happen.

Probably semi-credible. One guy is mentally ill and other has twin brother in law enforcement. I expect a lot of flat tires, traffic tickets, and at least one direct confrontation. Local law enforcement would not respond, no interest and no proof.

My DS texted an invitation for burgers on the grill for Mother's Day. What? H. messaged him asking if this replaced his DD's invitation. Several beats. DS had missed her text days before.

Just watched 911 Lone Star. Rob Lowe looks good for his age. I caught an article this week that said he's 33 years sober now. he's also been an Atkins spokesman, so there's a bit of clean living that some of us don't quite have lol...

Would not want to live there at all What is so attractive in that area that makes you want to live under threats like that? You’ve mentioned not feeling safe even in Your front yard at least in one post

Plus, you don't see all the stuff I erase or choose not to post. Just out of curiosity but would this a follow-up talk on FMLA your HR wanted to have a few weeks ago? At the time you were a bit undecided on whether to contact them at all so maybe that talk did not happen at all? If the latter is the case you better contact them asap. Ignoring their requests repeatedly might lead to a situation where you won't have to worry about the FMLA rules as you won't have a job to apply them to. I think the best thing you can do is what someone else said: talk to them, write everything down, and follow up with an email in which you put all your take-aways/understanding of the call and ask them to let you know if you misunderstood anything.

ETA - please stay safe and be as careful as you can. I just can not imagine what you could have done.

I ended up doing well today.
Cleaned my mats in the car, but that was it, will finish tomorrow. Pruned and watered 2 small flower beds, and a circle one. I lost a tree rose, not sure what happened. Hubs thinks lack of rain, lots of dead branches on my roses, but those are trimmed and full of blooms and watered.
I have a honey suckle bush all in bloom, it's so pretty.
Next is weeding and trimming across the front of the house, It's not to bad. My snowball bush is bloomed out fully. And my peonies is full of buds. My big lilac has done nothing. The small one has buds.
So tomorrow or Sunday, though they are talking severe storms for mothers day.
Definitely finish wiping down and vacuuming my car. I was going to cancel the wash once a month as it went to $39.99 a month. Instead they gave me a special $19.99 a month for a year, normal is $22 a month, so like hubs said washing it this winter will keep it clean and for a good price. I did not expect that.
DD and I really need to go to the city. Hubs said he is no good at selecting a bed so I can choose for both of us. I wish I didn't have to do that. I HATE picking out mattresses. It's something very expensive and you never know how comfortable they are. I do want an adjustable bed again, but I'm wondering if another brand other then tempurpedic is just as good.
We all went out for dinner for Mothers Day, had Mexican it was good.

Good morning, winsome and wise invisipeeps, wending your way through the days. Welcome to Saturday. I hope your day offers an opportunity that you take to frolic and that your night gives you blissful sleep. Our handyman brought up the ac the other day and installed it, for which I was grateful yesterday at the temperature hit 79. This woman is not happy in heat in the house. And heat early in the season is much lower than it will be once I'm acclimated. Nice living here where the sea breezes keep away the real heat. Yesterday DH signed us up for 6 outdoor markets sponsored by the town visitor's center. We'll show and ideally sell some of our photography. We'll see. The first market is the weekend we get back from the cruise, so we'll need to have our ducks in a row. I've got to finish setting up my website. But first, I need to begin seriously to pack for our trip. And mulch the front gardens, which have now resurrected pansies in them, blooming in purple. Didn't expect that. Yesterday evening at the marina down the street as the sun set:

All of this ^ I had to jump through my FMLA hoops myself during my medical nightmare. Add to this, I was in a tremendous amount of pain and taking enough narcotics to put down a horse. My entire nightmare, while I had TD to haul my butt from point A to point B and to fetch and carry for me, I had to file all my paperwork on my own. I had to make all decisions on my own. I had to deal with not only my boss’s admin (who lied through her teeth, and was utterly clueless about benefits) but HR AND a 3 hour time difference. By the time my brain was clear enough to deal with them, they were either at lunch, or had gone home. I actually had to adjust my drugs in order to make calls. Partners can provide emotional support, but TBH after a 10+ year tenure on medical boards, most are more of a hindrance than help and I forget the stats, but a female is much more likely to stick around and help her male partner than a male partner stick around and help a female partner. I just did a quick google, and men are 6x more likely to leave their female partner with a diagnosis of cancer or MS. That pretty much mirrors what I see too.

In Dublin right now and we are socked in by fog. It is a tender port, and I was supposed to be on one of the first tenders out of here. Instead, I’m waiting in our cabin to be able to go. TD is doing a pub crawl this afternoon, so he hasn’t budged from bed.
Last night turned out to be a cocktail party. It was great, lots of finger food and an open bar. The captain on the ship is the same one we had last year when we hung out in Uruguay for 4 days when Argentina wouldn’t let us in. It was a nice set up, and TD got a chance to see the induction cooktop that we use during the cooking class. I was right…..he was all over that!

Well, the fog finally lifted so we are on our way….only 3 hours late.
I can already tell we are not going to be in Ireland near long enough, will likely be back next year.

I just did a quick google, and men are 6x more likely to leave their female partner with a diagnosis of cancer or MS. That pretty much mirrors what I see too. I understand what you are saying and don't disagree. I was married for over 7 years. I had a livein BF that had medical issues not happened to him, might have become my second husband. I have no illusions on how bad the wrong partner can be, But you yourself said TD drove you from place to place. Imagine how much harder that would be at 63, underfunded with many of your cohort recently moving out of the area, protecting their own job or family, etc. Every single needed drive I have to find someone who will take me. It is not easy in this almost post Covid world. It was awful during Covid, and I still almost three years later have sunburn scars on my calves from walking about two miles in the hot sun in August to my place, because my car died and AAA would not be there quickly. Actually AAA insisted they had to send a battery person even though I knew it was not the battery. It was not the battery. So I walked home, in sandals that I liked that were dying and therefore very hard to walk in because the next projected tow would not be there for over an hour. This is when I had my original new Android phone which I was unable to work to make a simple phone call. Instead, in my panic I hit somethings wrong (happens all the time now too) and it reset itself to factory settings and changed the language to Japanese or Chinese. This was August 2020 and most people were terrified of my existence and I barely got a kind soul at a convenience store to let me at least call my former job and let them know I wasn't there and when I would be, would be determined by AAA. Do not discount how important those rides can be. The day my car was made undriveable I probably burned out my adrenals and I was dehydrated enough my ears closed up like a real bad ear infection. Even now, walking less than 1/4 mile and back somewhere near me takes a lot out of me physically, but I do it, because otherwise I can't even get liquid Mucinex or simple groceries without ordering and waiting for the shipment to arrive. My right side is all pulled muscle from these short trips and makes it even hard to sleep.

I'm starting the first sleeve of my sweater. I thought I had to buy two sets of knitting needles. I think now I just need one. I'm pleased with this pattern. It takes about 3x as much as a hat, with not a whole lot more time involved. If I sat around and knit this weekend, I'd have the sweater finished.

DH and I have adjustable beds at each of our homes. We use an innerspring mattress on the adjustable base. It works great! Much less snoring and sinus drainage in the morning if we sleep with the head elevated. We use a king mattress on a king adjustable base, but two twin beds with bases would work well too. DH broke his leg badly a few years ago. When it starts to ache, I send him to bed and he can get his leg up higher than if he used the recliner. We bought the last adjustable base from Costco. It works fine, but the legs are plastic instead of metal and I feel a bit of wiggle as we get in and out of bed. The other two bases were bought at furniture and mattress stores.

I don't know if you have a Denver Mattress store near you. We purchased a firm king mattress last year for almost half the price of a Serta. Good warranty too. DH and I prefer to purchase less expensive mattresses but replace them more often.

I guess I should get moving on the indoor chores. It looks like it's raining all day today. I doubt tonight's baseball game happens. And it's always the games that I have multiple people going with me that get canceled.

late getting moving today. I think I'm going to start with a Home Depot run. I am determined to put my hanging baskets back up this year, hopefully with natural bug repellents. I first need to throw out the dead stuff that I never cleared last spring.....oops.
