I have hit my water goal of 6 bottles every day. I am on bottle 5 so far today. I am starving for some reason, and am trying to keep full of water to avoid overeating. It is not really helping.

That's when I like to eat something heavier, like steak. It keeps me more satiated for days. I try not to allow myself get too hungry, because that's when I reach for the worst things--sugary/Carby stuff.

I am doing well with the water intake, so time to add a second goal ( I do much better adding stages than trying to completely overhaul). Next, I need to get back to my 16 hour IF. I fell off during the holidays. When I started back up after the new year, I lazily set the goal at 13 hours. I have been maintaining at that goal, but not losing like I was on the 16 hour.
I pushed myself to make it to 16.5 today. And though I felt super hungry I was not able to finish 1 cup of soup and 1/2 turkey sandwich (turkey, mustard, whole grain bread). As a child it was ingrained to me that that you finish everything on your plate, so I am proud of myself for not pushing past what my stomach needed.

Made it to 16 hours, barely, again today. The weekend is a bit easier for me, so hopefully by the time I return to work on Tuesday my body will be better adjusted.

Did you ever see those commercials with that lady who has a bladder issue and she plans her day based upon where the nearest bathroom is? Yeah, that's me after my morning intake of 4 cups of salt water/lemon juice. I walked just over a mile at the state park, making sure to have a potty break before AND after, then went to the Y and hit the recumbent bike for 15 minutes, with yet another potty break afterwards. The fun of being hydrated.

I've definitely been lax this week regarding posting here. I had one ridiculous food day--Wednesday--but I've done decently the remainder of the days. I've not been exercising at all, but I have done a lot of yoga poses while supervising hallways. My weight is up one pound, but that's a girly thing. Hopefully it retreats by Monday.

Working on a 36-hour fast this time. Maintaining my electrolytes with the salty lemon juice. Just finished up 5.27 miles on the recumbent bike at the Y.

What are the benefits of a 36 hour fast?

There's an analogy in The Obesity Code that I'll try to explain...
When you eat, the body uses what's in the stomach as energy. He akins it to a refrigerator. Your body uses the food in the fridge first. The fat that your body is storing is like a deep freezer. And the body will seek out what's in the deep freezer when the fridge is empty. If the fridge always has something in it--usually because we've been conditioned to eat often--then the body never has to reach into the deep freezer for its energy source.
I usually do 20/4 fasts and eat between 4pm and 8pm but decided to mix it up a bit this weekend. I'll eat in the morning. This fast started last night when my "normal" window was over.

I'd be interested to hear how it goes for you. I tend to eat more in afternoon and evening, then don't eat breakfast til about noon. I guess that's sort of like intermittent fasting, but nothing I do deliberately.

I guess that's sort of like intermittent fasting, but nothing I do deliberately. Actually, that IS intermittent fasting. Many people who IF use a 16/8 window where they might eat between the hours of noon and 8pm. I drank water and coffee the whole time I was fasting these past 36 hours. Luckily, there were two 9-hour stints of sleeping so it's not like I was awake for all 36 hours--that would have been very, very difficult. As a result, where my usual morning weight has been 217.8, this morning it was 215.2. I'll be having something to eat--somewhere between 1500-2000 calories--before I go to work (11-6) and will likely fast again from this morning until tomorrow.

I've checked out The Obesity Code from the library!
Regarding the fasting, here's how a non-medical person's explanation of how the medical doctor who founded Optavia explains it.

Day 16 - (213.7 - 208.0 = 5.7 lbs lost) Not a good week at all. Still negative for the year but gained 3 lbs this week. Too much eating out and not being careful what I ordered! This is my M.O. Do good, feel good about doing good, and then blow the hell out of it! Starting over. At least it is from a lower starting point.

That's a pretty good video for a very simple explanation. I hope you find many useful tidbits in the book Knee Deep in Water Chloe.

Got in a couple of walks this past week (even turned a zoom touchpoint with one of my employees to a walking one around her neighborhood as she’s relatively close to me - bonus!). We got snow overnight right Friday night/Saturday morning, so we did a slow 0.5 mile walk (and back) with the kids to the sledding hill yesterday and today. The snow will likely be gone tomorrow, so I’m hoping the sidewalks are clear enough to walk in my tennis shoes.
Eating was so-so. Im so tired of figuring out meals. It doesn’t help that my kids are not picky about the same things. One loves soup, one hates it. One will do some occasional pasta, the other hates it. Blergh. I think I’m just in a cooking funk so hopefully I figure it out soon.

Weekly check in
Poor food choices for part of the week. Weight in wrong direction. Oh well new week. Same goals.
Did well with water and steps.

Yesterday was my first day at Bath & Body Works. I had two hours of onboarding, an hour of working the sales floor, and then I got stuck behind the cash register for three hours after my 30 minute break. Three hours of non-stop ringing up of customers. I was busy but I hate standing in one spot for so long.

Hi Kids! That last pound I put on over Christmas is stubbornly hanging onto me, but I guess it could be worse. Still annoying, though. I'll just keep doing my routine, and trusting that it'll eventually leave.

nidena, if your store has any more "Magic in the Air", drop me a PM. It's discontinued, and difficult to find, although I managed to find some here just after Christmas. What a great place to work!

I’m not weighing in today since we were still in our fifth wheel this morning. It’ll have to wait (pun not intended ) until tomorrow.

I am going to try and jump in here. We will see what time allows. My main goal is to get fit for my trip in June. I had the original goal of doing 8 miles on the elliptical machine at the gym in an hour. When I hit 6 miles in the hour, I did kind of say screw the 8 miles in a hour. Losing weight was another goal. Now I am more focused on that. I do try and mix up cardio and weights. Right now I am more cardio heavy, but I hope in March to switch that more to weight heavy. My goal is kind of just do better then the week before. Although this weekend I was pretty lazy, today very much so. I am eating lower calories, most of the time not many carbs, which hasn't been to hard because I don't like rice unless it is in sushi, potatoes, carrots. I have been keeping track however.
Date weight
11/14/21 202
11/21/21 200
12/12/21 194
12/19/21 192
12/26/21 —---
01/02/22 187
01/09 184
01/16 178
01/23
01/30

The weekend was the reset that I needed. I am almost to 17 fasting hours this morning and still feel strong. Slacking on water this AM though, just started my second bottle of the planned 6. Plenty of time to make that up, though I try to limit intake after 5PM. Even then, I never make it through the night without getting up.
Just realized that I do not factor in the melting ice to my water goal. It is likely about 1 bottle.

170.6 this morning, I've spent the last week going up and down about 1.5 lbs.

Broke my fast at 20 hours and am working on my 5th bottle of water. Was not really feeling hungry, but I have a hair appointment in an hour and a half. Did not want to be in the middle of it and start feeling hangry. Had a 1/3 cup of last night's chicken and dumplings with about 8 crinkle cut fries (there weren't any dumplings left in the soup) and that was more than enough.

I'd like to join you all!
Worked out on Sunday for the first time in 1.5 years - after working out consistently for 20 years. Partner and I had been going to classes pre-Covid. Gyms are opened up, but we are still trying to avoid crowds and crowded spaces. We have a home gym with weights, smart tv and a rowing machine. Goals: Workout 3x per week (for now) focusing on strength training and getting enough cardio to be healthy.
Maintain weight. I've been underweight most of my life due to a genetic condition and am finally a healthy weight (120 lbs at 5'5").
If anyone has any apps or videos to share, I'd appreciate it. Currently working my way through Amazon Prime strength training videos, but variety is key - for me at least.

So... No progress since last week. In fact, I'm up 0.1 to 209.3. I did track, but I did not make good choices. And I did not hit my water goal, didn't even get close a single day. Sigh.
I need to relocate the fire I had when I came back to this group late last year. I've set my goals, I know where I want to go and why I want to get there. Now I need something to kick me in the ass so I get back to doing what I know works.

I think it took my body a month to realize "Oh, we're doing this now" and decided to kick into gear.
I had planned on comparing only Mondays but I'm down another two pounds in the past two days.
At 213.4, I'm at the lowest I've been in probably three years.
And I haven't been below 205 since I left the military back in 2016. I think I'll be there by the end of this month.

Made it to 18 hours fasted easily today - still ate mostly out of boredom, and I am ok with that as long as I made it past my 16 hour goal.
