Saturday was a ton of food, but it was healthy food. My calorie consumption was high. Today, I plan to stay in the 1000 range to even out yesterday. I did 20 minutes of cardio yesterday, and I plan for forty today.

I just went back to page one to add to my goals, and I realized I'd not posted any!
physical health --lose 20 pounds (2021's goal was to lose ten pounds, and I went the other direction.) --consistently exercise four to five days per week --track this with myfitnesspal for weight and a daily & yearly tracker for exercise --not eat to make my emotions stablize --keep my steps average/month higher that the previous month + the 2022 average higher than the 2021 average
I'll do daily-ish posts here for my own accountability. I'll do monthly reflections here for goal tracking and discussion.

Maybe the community approach is what I need. Have always tried to do it on my own and always after losing the weight gain it back.
I'll start here and see how it goes. Started the year at 213. Keeping track of calories and exercise on "My Fitness Pal". As of this morning (1/9/22) I am at 206.6. Losing lots of water weight early on. Not much exercise yet but I keep telling myself it's early days and the weather sucks. (I lie to myself very easily.)
My goal is to get to 190 by the end of March.

More shoveling today. My fitbit tells me my heart rate got up to 130/min. That blows my mind. I was never breathing heavy and really didn't feel any discomfort. I was careful of my back. Any time I felt it tightening up I would switch activities. Anyway, it is way easier for me to shovel than lift weights. I'm not a gym rat kind of exerciser. I can walk the dogs for 20 mins no problem, but walking on the treadmill for 20 mins is torture. I can shovel my double wide driveway but lifting weights for 45 mins is just not happening.

Last week wasn't great, but did get a shorter walk in on Tuesday and longer walks yesterday and today. But yikes, when I didn’t get a walk in, my step count was low. I need to work on that. I was WFH M/T/W because the kids didn't go back to school until Thursday, and if I don't go out for a walk, I have a hard time getting in steps.
On a related note, anyone in a colder climate have any recommendations for warmer pants/leggings/activewear? My jeans were definitely not cutting it yesterday and today on my longer walks. I have snow pants, but as they're about a half size too small and we don't actually have any snow on the ground, I don't want to wear those for walks.

Sometimes I'll wear leggings under my sweatpants. I've been on the coast for the last decade, so it just doesn't get that cold here. I'll be back inland next winter, so I'll need a different plan! I do wear running gloves if I'm outside though. That definitely helps.

I've been known to wear two pairs of leggings in cold weather...my thinner (actual) gym leggings under some lounge leggings but it's not great. To create warmth, you need to have pockets of air in between the layers because that is what warms up so you're better off with Knee Deep in Water Chloe's suggestion.

I got some Eddie Bauer fleece pants at Sam's Club last year that are super warm. I love them--theyre so soft.. practically live in them, WFH.
Unfortunately, I don't see the same ones on their website now. The ones on there might be good, too. I just don't know if it's the same fleece I fell in love with.

I’ve been wearing gloves (and a hat and a scarf and coat), so my upper half is staying toasty warm, but not the bottom half.
I’ll check my local sams club to see if they have anything. And I will also try wearing leggings under some jogger type pants.

Trying to figure out why my lowest weight is always Sunday or Monday morning, and what contributes to it. We are talking 4-5 LBs. I need to start writing down every bite, lick, and taste every day. I am sure that I regularly eat less on the weekends because I am so busy running errands or cleaning the house that I rarely stop to eat - who wants to go from scrubbing a floor or cleaning a bathroom to handling food. I always say I will eat after I shower, but often by that time my appetite is zilch. There have been times where I have unplanned fasts that last over 40 hours on the weekends, but lately have struggled to reach 16 hours during work days. I also need to put the snacks (even though they are mostly healthy ones) out of sight at work. I have gotten into the habit of leaving them out in plain sight, which leads to mindless snacking.

MyFitnessPal. Tracking gets really old after a while, but it's really helpful in figuring out things like this. If you have one of the major brand step counter watches, it'll figure out your calories burned as well.

My work has a drawing for 3 prizes every year. They weigh you early November and again early January. If you gained 2 or less pounds, then you can win $100, $200 or $300 gift card. This is the first year I'm eligible, being full-time now. The second weigh in is tomorrow. From me own records, I'm at the same weight, but I have my period and it can fluctuate so much. Plus they add 3 pounds for clothes. Do I brave this nasty frigid cold tomorrow morning for this, or do I sleep in a little and WFH? I don't know! They even cancelled school again today because of the ice, and it's supposed to be even colder tomorrow.

Hi Kids! The scale is moving in the right direction. I'm less than a pound away from my pre-Christmas weight. I did put in an extra 20 minutes of exercise yesterday. Of course, I wasn't sure if I'd end up with less weight, or more muscle mass, but either would be ok. I'm debating whether to do the usual amount of exercise today or add that 20 minutes extra again.

In the week since I left the job, my steps/day is definitely less and it's been so cold that I haven't wanted to leave my house which makes it even more difficult to achieve 5000+ steps/day. I had the interview at Bath & Body Works yesterday and I'm just waiting to hear back from them. I know once I start there, I'll be doing lots of steps so I'm trying not to stress this lull. Same goes for the once/week job at the Y that I applied for. It involves lots of walking around the cardio/weight machine space so more steps there, too. Now, if we could just get back to temps above 40*. In other topics, an interesting article about sleep: www.cnn.com/2022/01/09/health/sleep-history-wellness-scn/index.html

Day 11...(213.7 - 205.6 = 8.1 lost) Doing good so far on the calorie intake front; averaging about 1200/day. Cutting out the junk food and grazing after dinner definitely helps. Probably now at the point where the "easy" weight is gone. Everybody keep fighting the good fight.

We decided we are moving away from the region we’ve lived in for a decade. In theory, we’re moving closer to all of our children, but can only live in the same area as one of the girls or both of the boys. DH can retire but doesn’t quite want to. He won’t won’t take just any job though. I cannot retire, so I do need to find another position.

There was freezing rain on Saturday, and then the temps dropped a lot, but there was time to melt the ice properly in between. I take mostly a single, straight highway, and they took good care of it before Tuesday morning. Otherwise, I might have turned around! I did qualify for the drawing. I haven't heard of any winners yet, so there is still hope.

Stepped on the scale yesterday but forgot to post. It said 209.2, up ~3.5 from where I was. Setting some simple, attainable goals for this first week: track everything (even the "bad" stuff!); and hit my 64oz/day water goal. First mini-goal is to be down to 190.0 by March 29th. Can't wait!!
