Haven't found our bathroom scale yet, so maybe next week for a weigh-in. Yesterday's calories were way over and mindless.

Good news this morning. I had a follow up doctor's appointment. I went down 5 pounds since January 25 to today. My A1C went down to 7.1. It was 7.7 in January. My blood pressure slightly decreased, but my doctor wants to bring it down to 135. So she upped my dose of the blood pressure medicine. It still a low dose, the maximum is 40grams and I'm at 10 grams. She said if my weight continues to improve she'll bring the blood pressure medicine back to 5 grams. <snip> I'm beyond happy. Ava, I hadn't seen anything for you on the "What are you doing" thread so I looked for recent posts. I'm so happy to see your hard work is having positive effects and that you have good professionals supporting you, with the exception of the jerk doctor who will eventually be out of the picture. I wonder how many people don't get the care they need because he's so mean and judgmental. On the thread topic- I was pleasantly surprised to find after 10 days in Europe, eating good bread and cheese and having an ice cream cone (almost) every day I LOST weight. I walked everywhere in Munich- it's so pedestrian-friendly. My FitBit tells me that this past week, after returning home, I walked 22 miles less than the week I was in Munich! I went over 15 miles one day when I relied too much on the smartphone apps, some of which refused to work and some of where were more geared towards driving. Apple Maps was the worst- it kept sending me in circles and further from my destination. I finally got a REAL map. Problem solved. Two other things helped in addition to the walking: staying in an Airbnb with a kitchen, and the massive change in restaurant offerings in Germany. I remember when it was heavily oriented towards meat, cheese and bread. Now, with all the ethnic restaurants as well as the "fresh and healthy" takeouts, it was easy to get food loaded with fresh vegetables. I had Turkish and Nepalese (in Malta), among others. I need to take trips like that more often. :-)

143 this morning, that would be a 6lb lost this week. Not sure I believe that. I do think I lost some because the pants I got for the trip last week do seem a bit looser then what I remember trying them in on at the store, but being at home seems to have been good. Will not weigh in again until I am home from the trip.
Goals I still want to eat healthy, but also splurging on local restaurants while out in the city parts of the trip. But no junk food just because while driving, still stay away from sodas.
No gym, but being active is a major component of the trip.
Besides that I do not know.

It has been a while since I checked in. 200.9 this morning, so still going in the right direction.
Bought a kayak this weekend. DH has had one for about 4 years. My first time using one was on vacation in Kentucky last year, and have been looking ever since. Finally ran to several stores Saturday to try them out and found one that I liked. Man, the prices have gotten ridiculous. I wasn't really in a hurry, but DH has been down about his new work schedule and I was looking for a cheapish way to get him out more while the weather is nice. He will not leave me at home, and I often have to push him away from the house and responsibility to enjoy life while we can.

I'm trying to up my exercise game for the next few months. We'll see how this goes. Hopefully once I get into a routine, it won't be too bad. But right now, it feels exhausting, lol.
My vacation last week was a good mix of relaxing and moving. We did a LOT of walking, so I don't feel so bad about the amount of wine and dessert I consumed.

Hello everyone.
NSVs: Legs getting stronger Forearms feel smaller Feel happier in general
Down 19.6 pounds since Jan 1st. 14.6 of those were from when I started going "hard core" low carb/calorie March 19.
And as of yesterday, I am completely swearing off low carb tortillas. They have wheat in them and mess up my system within 30 minutes of consumption.

In one day I walked 15 miles! (That was because I trusted the GPS-type devices on my phone, which were geared towards driving and might not have worked well in Europe). I finally resorted to a map. I ate cheese, I ate bread, I had a single scoop of excellent ice cream nearly every day- and I lost a few pounds. It really helped that my Airbnb was about an hour's walk from all the tourist attractions and the city (Munich) was very pedestrian-friendly.

Had a doctor's appointment for labs a couple of days ago. I see that since we actively began selling the house and then became nomads I've gained 6 pounds. In the BMI metric I am now overweight from all the eating out we have been doing. Also, my iron levels are really low again. I had not been taking my iron supplements, so that explains it, but doesn't explain why I need iron supplements at all. I'm way past menopause.
I'm going to go slow this summer as we move again, this time into the new house, and begin regular exercise, walking Franklin the Dog around town and at the beach. Once I get the kitchen set up I'll cook regularly at home and also do the intermittent fasting. By October all should be back to normal, I figure. I hope.

I have always had low iron, I always get it mentioned.
No weigh in, as in no scale. Eating healthy has been a bit of a hit and miss. Confessions would be the deep dish pizza in Chicago, the frozen custard and cheese curds in Wisconsin, which I still have a 2.5 of cheese curds in my cooler for the rest of the trip. The batter fried Walleye in Duluth, where I may have outed myself by asking for hot sauce to put on the fried fish. They also had wild rice stuffed mushrooms which I thought would be more healthy, yea not with the cheese and cream sauce they were smoothed in. Also got a slice of rhubarb pie out by Split Rock Light house. I still have several want to try dishes that I am keeping my eye out for. I have been walking a lot. Pants feel the same so I am thinking I am breaking even right now.... Next week is more national parks and hiking, and more eating out of what I have packed so that should help some.

I was improving my eating and exercise habits, slowly, before vacation. The vacation actually helped since there's a park a couple of blocks from my mom's house. I went there every morning to walk. It was so nice to walk and see trees, hear birds sing, etc. Plus I don't have a car there. I would walk to the grocery store every day, carrying a little grocery cart along with me. It was about 4 blocks away, but it made me move. And coming back with my cart full was a little workout. People go the store almost everyday there. There's no concept of going once a week and buying for the whole 7 days as I do here. People like everything fresh, plus the city is very walkable and there are grocery stores nearby. Some days I ate healthy, but most days I would get delicious local food. I would go out to eat with friends. I tried to control portion sizes and not worry too much about it. By the last week I could feel I'd lost some weight. I could feel my stomach area was tighter. This was confirmed in my flight back. Going down there I had to ask the flight attendant for a seat belt extender. On the first leg of the flight I could fasten the belt but it was too tight. On the second leg (had to change planes for the connecting flight) I couldn't fasten it. Almost, but no. Coming back though, I asked the flight attendant for an extender as I boarded, but when I got to my seat I could fasten the belt without problems. Granted, I had it extended to the maximum possible, but it was comfortable and I didn't need the extender. It did me a world of good to recharge and to go back home for a while. I feel so happy and rested now. I've changed my exercise routine. Before vacation I was doing Leslie Sansone workouts but getting bored with them. Leslie's workouts are very motivating and it feels like working out with a friend who's right there with you. But I think she's retired now and she's put new walk leaders in the new workout videos who don't measure up to her. So I kept doing her old videos over and over again. And paying the subscription. It wasn't much; $6,99 a month plus tax, but it wasn't giving me value anymore. I looked around in YouTube because I knew there's plenty of walking workouts in there. Right now I'm doing workouts with a channel called BumpeeGirl. They are easy to do, low impact, but make me sweat. If you want to check it out, the channel is in You Tube and you can subscribe for free. She has 5,000 steps workouts mostly, which is what I'm doing. She also has some 10,000 steps videos, but I'm not there yet. There are other YouTube channels that have low impact walking workouts. These are all free. As for food, I didn't bring many goodies back home. Just a few. They are all gone by now, naturally I've been eating healthy, following the nutritionist's plan. Next week my mother will be here and we eat healthier when she's here. She cooks delicious homemade food, we enroll in the YMCA, and I don't eat emotionally so much when someone else is in the house with me. I haven't weighted myself, and I don't plan to do it until August when I have my next appointment with the doctor. I have my appointment with the veins doctor for the end of this month, when he'll do the injections on my legs. Can't wait. The red spots are very noticeable and I'm so uncomfortable with them that I haven't put on shorts so far. I will have to learn to live with them because the doctor said they are not going away. I can't hide my legs forever. Sorry for the long post

I always have low iron and vitamins D and B. I take iron, script OTC D, and B injections every 3 weeks (which will get more difficult as the office has moved from across the street from work into town). I will have to see if I can get a script for the B so that DH can poke me.

Last Sunday was 146.4lbs Today is 145.7lbs
Exercise room is set up at our new house. The only problem is we haven't found the electric/plug-in cords for the recumbent bicycle or the rower. The ellipitical is plugged in though!

finnime , the same thing happened to me when I was in between houses and living in a hotel. I had good intentions at first by utilizing my Crock Pot I brought, but then it went downhill very quickly. A very stressful time in my life which resulted in a ER visit. Your future Franklin walks sound blissful. geenamercile , that fish sounds delish. Ava , congratulations on the seatbelt success! Believe me, I get it! Knee Deep in Water Chloe , congrats on the exercise room! My weight loss has come to a halt. I know it's because I've been eating larger suppers again and haven't been on the treadmill for a few weeks. Stretching, crunches, hand weights, a bit of yoga, yes, but no treadmill for cardio purposes. Bad habit to slip back into, which will stop this evening after work.

Didn't get to the treadmill last night as I'd forgotten about the HOA meeting. Weight down, however, due to the fact supper consisted of light, low carb snacks vs. a big meal.

Thank you, Iggy aka IGI wasn't sure if I was going to post about it. I thought some people will understand and others will have negative thoughts about it. But I'm here to be honest with myself and with the other posters. I've been dealing with not being able to fasten an airplane seatbelt for a very long time. I used to feel so embarrased about it. But then, a few years ago, I allowed myself let go of the fear, anxiety and embarrassment. I would board the plane, approach a flight attendant, and inform them I needed a seat belt extender the same way I would tell them I needed a glass of water. Over the years, a couple of flight attendants have snickered at me, while most of them acted in a professional manner and didn't make a big deal of it. I've also had a few fellow passengers stare at me while I'm setting the extender. Most of them didn't even notice or care. Whatever the flight attendant's reaction, and the other passengers' reaction, I would set up the extender, make sure I was traveling safely, and go on with my life. My biggest fear was that the flight attendant may say they didn't have a seat belt extender, and then what? But that never happened. Don't get me wrong, it's great not to need a seatbelt extender now. And I will NOT let myself go back to needing one. But I had learned to live with it, not let it bother me, and enjoy my vacations without worrying what others thought of me.

Ava, you're welcome. Sorry you were snickered at. Past flight attendants I encountered were discreet and professional. And, for anyone else in this same boat here's a tip: A few years ago, I came across a blog with tips for "fluffy" travelers and one of her tips was one can buy their own extender online.

I knew about buying an extender online, I thought about it, and I even browsed Amazon. There are several in there, some of them for $15 or so But not all of them work with all the airlines. I don't know, I never got around to buying one.
As for being snickered at, it only happened a couple of times and I travel every year. I ignored it. If being thinner than me is all it takes to make them feel good about themselves, more power to them.

I am down to 214 this week. Dropped 2lbs but I'm not sure how. I have been able to be a bit more active than usual but I didn't realize it was enough to lose a couple of pounds. I'll take it though!
