Well it looks like the boyfriend has now gone missing. link I wouldn't be surprised if they find him dead by suicide and then they really won't have a clue where to find her. I’m more cynical. Parents hadn’t seen him since Tuesday but just now told the cops he’s gone. My guess is the parents and their lawyer realized he would not be able to state a cohesive story about what happened, and at the same time the national attention to the story is no doubt pushing the cops to rush to find the murderer, so they helped him flee the country.

From the link- Laundrie has not been seen since Tuesday, according to police and the family's lawyer. So she was declared missing on the 11th, and on Tuesday the 14th he goes missing. I knew he'd break, but I admit I did not expect this or at least so quickly.

Agreed. Especially when it was Wednesday the lawyer said he would not be speaking on the advice of counsel.

Missing person report filed. Analysis: Young? Check. Cute? Check. Thin? Check. White. Check. Blonde? Check. Meets the qualifications as national news story? Check. NEWS FLASH: MISSING PERSON REPORT FILED! Yeah these stories about cute blonde girls or women being killed/kidnapped makes me think about all the non white, less cute women or men who go missing with hardly a mention. Especially sex workers. We had a cold case solved in our county a little while ago. A black man suspected of murder as many as 100 women dumped a body here decades ago. He preyed on black sex workers, and neither the cops or media care to spend much time on sex workers.

The big question is exactly where was he picked up. This would give the search area.
ETA: Then, where did Laundrie get the van back? Anybody who lives in the Jackson Hole area knows people don't camp out with just a tarp and few supplies. What a jerk Laundrie is. Guilty for sure. He could so easily have her lead up the trail while hiking then he turns around and leaves.

According to Baker they've spoken to various people, so locally someone should be aware.

They just found a body in the Tetons. There are two men missing as well. One of them disappeared around when she did.

Unlikely. There's way more forest cover where he's believed to be. Makes it harder to see the vultures.

They don't have forensic confirmation yet, but they're saying it's her on the conference. No cause of death yet.

Yikes! NBC news just phrased it as "human remains" on TV.

Five inches of snow are expected for the Tetons in WY. It's a good thing they found the remains.
Many times hunters are the ones who find the remains. Sometimes years after someone goes missing.

I'm wondering why they think he's in that park versus on a plane, train, etc.?

Yikes! NBC news just phrased it as "human remains" on TV. Well, she would have been out there for 3-4 weeks. Honestly, I'm surprised they find bodies at all after long periods of time in wilderness like that. Around here that's enough time for the scavengers to completely clear away an entire deer hit alongside the road.

Two new things.
One article said there is a "dead zone" in Yellowstone National Park that borders both Idaho and Wyoming. There would be no residents that live in both Idaho and Wyoming for jury choices in case of a murder trial.
Rainbow appears where authorities discovered body believed to be Gabby Petito. From Fox News.
------------
After my late SILs funeral, there was a double rainbow in a clear sky.

Yes, I know the difference. I'm sure the borders of the two states in the wilderness would have to be determined.
I found it very odd that the article focused on that area in Yellowstone since it's a national park. My first thought was, if you want to get away with murder, go here.

In a wilderness area, there would be a lot of "remains". I would bet there are a lot of tourist reports of finding such. A report specifying that in this case they were "human" seems reasonable.

I read a lawyers account of it, and he said that while there has never been a serious crime in this area to test it, it's highly doubtful one would ever get away with murder there because of that. Odds are it would just be tried in WY.

A report specifying that in this case they were "human" seems reasonable. There was a news article about a week or so ago about a man who fell off a cliff to his death in one of the state or national parks out west. While his body was being recovered by authorities, they came across the skeletal remains of someone who went missing in the park about five years earlier. DNA confirmed it was the man who authorities believed it was.
