Thanks. I'll be surprised if its anything more than his belongings. I think this link is from NBC as well. www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/human-remains-apparently-found-near-backpack-at-brian-laundrie-search-site-source/ar-AAPKNeF?ocid=msedgntpJust a day ago, North Port reopened Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, where the Mustang was abandoned, after a month-long closure; Laundrie's parents went to search Wednesday
That park was abruptly shut down again when the two found items belonging to their son after a "brief search" on a trail, their family attorney said; apparent human remains were also found, a source said
Partial human remains appear to have been found near a backpack in the Florida park central to the Brian Laundrie search, though it's not clear to whom they belong, a senior law enforcement official confirmed Wednesday. The area where the apparent remains and backpack were found had previously been submerged.

Fishy. Law enforcement was all over that park and somehow the parents find something.

I feel bad for everyone in the tragedy.
May they all rest in peace.

Maybe an autopsy will provide answers. I think he killed himself but did he use a blade or drugs?

But I think its pretty obvious now, it was Laundrie who did it. Its not like we would have ever known anyway. I doubt the dude would have said a word, even if he was arrested, charged, and convicted. 2 people dead now, two sets of parents mourning their children! Its sad all around. But only one was murdered I think, I'm pretty sure Brian offed himself. It was better than spending life in jail. I also think his parents are not innocent.

This played out perfectly. I say at least 50 television episodes, docudramas, and made for television movies worth.

Maybe an autopsy will provide answers. I think he killed himself but did he use a blade or drugs? or did he use a gun or did he hang himself. Those are a more popular, more lethal ways to do one's self in. I hear in America that most people have access to a gun. This was a terrible tragedy for both families.

I am trying to not follow this story - given the whole "only missing white women make the news" thing, but I am having trouble avoiding it.
I heard the reason they didn't find anything earlier is that the area he was in was submerged. How long has it been submerged? I am thinking he was out there for three weeks. Did it flood and recede in that time? Or did he hurl his stuff into the Swamp and then chose to die close to the water hoping the alligators would take his body?

It has come to a final conclusion. Not much more to learn.

I am surprised it is him. Could a croc have gone after his body after death?

The CNN article I skimmed over said they found his skeletal remains and that it's possible he's been dead for a month (died soon after he went missing). I'm guessing that will make determining how he died difficult. I wonder if they found a couple of bones or his complete body (maybe he died in his sleeping bag or tent/hammock?) I'm guessing the local wildlife had access to his remains in some way.
I'm wonder if Gabby had been buried (which would imply a possible murder) - they were able to determine she was strangled about a month after her death (I'm guessing there is wildlife where she was found that would have, um, disturbed the body if they could get to it. )

I am surprised it is him. Could a croc have gone after his body after death? Sure. More likely an alligator than a croc though. American crocodiles are rare in Florida but do exist in the south of the state. A dead mammal is still food for many carnivorous mammals and other animals.

Local news stated the river running through the preserve had dropped almost five feet from it's flood stage when they started the original search. Lee County Sheriff from Lee county, which is not in the county of the search area but supplied some manpower stated the water was about chest high in the spot where they eventually found the remains, when the area was first searched. The question now is did the searchers go back to areas already searched when water level dropped, or did they continue to fan out further into the preserve.

Two of my coworkers had a real debate about this today. One coworker said that he was identified by dental records and said that if a person has enough money, they can make that happen even if it wasn’t true. Other coworker said that was impossible. Very strong statement, that I and others disagree with. Imo, money can make things happen that the average Joe can’t even fathom. If I had been participating in the conversation (I and others were just observers, these 2 fiercely debate SOMETHING at least twice/day ), I would have said that improbable might be a better word than impossible. Because lots of things are possible when money paves the way. Idek if this boy’s parents have that kind of money. But I do believe they have not been completely honest during all of this, for whatever that’s worth.

LOL... did coworker 1 mean enough money to create a fake skull with teeth that exactly matched Brian's (conspiracy theory stuff) OR did he mean enough money to bribe the official examining the skull and writing the report? (or enough money so that the official could be pressured to give the "right answer" without any money changing hands (as in the official felt threatened)?

My theory is that the parents are finally cooperating with the fbi. Saying they found his bones will eventually lure him out of hiding. I don't know anything about decomposed bodies, but if he were in flood waters, would he be skeletal so quickly?

Nature is a very effective recycler. They also mentioned feral pigs in the area, pigs can clean up an entire cow within 24-hours. I guess my point is, it really doesn't take much to turn human remains into nothing but bones, which can be easily scattered. I suspect they also took some DNA samples to confirm who it was, DNA is pretty hard to fake.

I suspect they also took some DNA samples to confirm who it was, DNA is pretty hard to fake. What is a realistic turn around time to test DNA? Because this was so high profile, would it jump the line? On TV shows, they just jump into the lab and get the answer instantly, meanwhile in real life thousands of rape kits wait a decade for DNA processing. I am sure the reality is somewhere in between but do we wait days or weeks or months to get the DNA confirmed?

Someone much smarter than me can jump on, but coding DNA can takes several weeks, not just a few minutes like we see on TV. It's a pretty complex task. At least in this case they can get samples from both parents for comparison. It's my understanding that they have already confirmed it was him through dental records.

I've watched so may crime shows lately that my take on them identifying him by dental plates is "Somebody paid off a dentist for "good plates" There was a show on ID channel I think about this very thing!! I haven't followed this real life story very closely just see headlines so can't really draw much of an opinion. Sorry for her family and friends.
