Yes, I know the difference. I'm sure the borders of the two states in the wilderness would have to be determined. I found it very odd that the article focused on that area in Yellowstone since it's a national park. My first thought was, if you want to get away with murder, go here. I am confident that even if you couldn't be charged with the crime committed in that area, there would be plenty you committed leading up to going there with the plan to do it. Not to mention, who would drive across country into the middle of nowhere with someone who may want to kill them? Even if it was theoretically true you couldn't be tried for crime you committed there (and I don't think it is), it seems in practice getting someone there that you wanted to murder would be pretty daunting.

So, a perpetrator of a crime in that area would likely be tried in Wyoming, according to prior ruling on the issue. Again, I think it's a generally moot point. Not a ton of crime committed where there are no people.

Coroner says autopsy should be done on Tuesday.
Just the headline: Cops Call Off Swamp Search for Van-Life Fiancé and Swarm His Home

Apparently they pulled the parents out of their home and searched it again. My guess is they think that Friday pic is him.

Curious to know what the autopsy says.
Boyfriend can claim they got into a fight in the middle of the park, she got mad and stormed away from her. He got mad and went in the opposite direction, then came back and was unable to find her. She wanders around lost until she died from exposure.
Hard to explain why he didn’t report her missing and insist help finding her, unless he had some evidence she joined up with other hikers and he thought she was hiding to try to get him in trouble, like with Gone Girl.

Its getting weirder to me. Brian's Mustang was shown being towed away from the house on ABC news right now. I'm wondering why.

The computer in the car can be accessed to see where the car was driven.
I'm thinking heat, dehydration coupled with the altitude were contributing factors. There have been many hiking deaths this year in AZ. Hiking is a hazardous activity.

Saw that both Pepito and her boyfriend were described as highly anxious people. And that Pepito was very anxious she would be separated from her boyfriend.
That is not a good relationship cocktail. You need at least one laid back, rational person per couple.

When you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras. I'm going to revise my earlier response of "there is basically a 1% chance he didn't kill her" to "there is basically a zero % chance he didn't kill her."

Another sighting of Brian without Gabby in the park. www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/gabby-petito-case-what-one-witness-saw-near-the-tetons-may-help-fbi-unravel-mystery/ar-AAOEoH0?ocid=msedgntp#image=AAOEtBh|1Schultz said she and another camper friend contacted the FBI on Thursday and spoke to someone about what they saw. She said the FBI called her back on Sunday morning, the day a body — believed to be Petito’s — was found in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area, a remote swath of alpine land where Schultz told the FBI she saw the van. Schultz and a group of other campers arrived at the camp area in late August for several nights and noticed a van that seemed like it didn’t belong. Schultz said she saw the van on Aug. 26 along with the young man — and saw the van again on the 27th and possibly the 28th without the man or anyone else around it.
“He was just acting weird,” Schultz, 38, said in a FaceTime call Monday morning with The Chronicle, speaking about the man she is now certain was Laundrie. “You know, when you’re out in the middle of nowhere, your hackles go up when you see something that’s out of the ordinary.”

If she didn’t like to be away from Brian I assume that means she wanted him to travel with her, which would limit what kinds of jobs he could do. Sounds like they were not a good match, overly dependent and a possibility violent controller. Squeeze that into a van for a few months, almost a guaranteed disaster.

Aren't camp sites exactly where you park sleeper vans? Did these people really think at the time that it was something suspicious, or have their memories been trained by a full month of listening to the story of the girl that disappeared pretty close to where you were. It has got to be freaky.

It has got to be freaky. If it's the people I'm thinking of, they actually had pictures of the van and it was just pulled off on the side of the road, not in a camping area.

I'm betting the BF is long gone by now. I don't think he was ever in that wildlife reserve in FL. I think his parents led the cops there to search for him in order to buy time to get him out of the country. He is probably somewhere in the Caribbean by now.
I hope he is caught. I figured he had killed her, and not just left her behind. But the cops really effed this one up, and I'm afraid he is out of the country by now. Hope I am wrong!

A lot of people are saying he hopped a plane and left the country, but wouldn't the cops just be able to check that easy enough? I mean it wasn't like he was back that long. Could the parents really have got him all set up with a fake identity and passport?
I'm curious what has become of that deer cam sighting of a hiker that looked like him about 400 miles away.

Couldn't he have left by boat? That seems like it would be easier, and he would have less of a chance of getting caught. I don't know how that works, I don't live in Florida or have a boat.

Maybe he just went somewhere and killed himself. That would be the polite thing to do. However, if he is a narcissist, he would never rob the earth of his obvious value.

Identity of Gabby confirmed. Death ruled a homicide. Excerpt:
"The FBI and our partners remain dedicated to ensuring anyone responsible for or complicit in Ms. Petito's death is held accountable for their actions," he said in a statement."

I admit I have two very different ideas about this. There’s a police video out there where the cops stopped their van because it was speeding and bumped into the curb. Turns out, according to Pepito, she had a very bad morning where her boyfriend had dirty feet and tracked sand into their car, then as she was working at a coffee shop on her laptop, trying to start her travel blog, they got into a fight because, she said, he didn’t believe her ability to start a travel blog. Ended up with him trying to keep her out of the car, telling her to go take a walk to calm down, and her scratching his face and head with her fingers and a comb while he’s trying to keep her at arms length. Sobbing, she tells the cops she has ADHD and she can get a little worked up sometimes. In this scenario, they are out on a trail, she starts attacking again, he tries to hold her back, accidentally shoved her to the ground, she hits her head and dies. Distraught, he runs into the swamp to kill himself. Second scenario- he’s an asshole, he’s controlling, he plots to kill her in the wilderness, and now that he’s getting caught, he runs off to Mexico.
I’m about 60 40 leaning towards him being a sociopath, right now.

You can just boat off. But you'll still need a passport when you get there. Plus unless you have a rather large boat you won't have enough gas to get much beyond the Bahamas. Though there are a lot of islands in the Bahamas.

Lately I've been wondering what Brian Laurie's parents are thinking. They released this statement- "May Gabby Rest In Peace."
Those are the only words in the statement issued by the family of Brian Laundrie after a coroner confirmed on Tuesday that the body found in a Wyoming national park over the weekend was that of Gabby Petito. Her death was ruled a homicide.
That brief statement comes after the attorney for Gabby Petito's family released a short statement of their own before the young woman's family learned the grim result from the autopsy.www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/laundrie-family-issues-5-word-statement-on-gabby-petitos-death-as-brian-laundrie-still-missing/3284817/

I’m about 60 40 leaning towards him being a sociopath, right now. I've been thinking about that. People don't always argue constructively especially when young. Maybe he was trying to tell her that this was not a good idea for a year around life for both of them. I watched their van life video, and from a commercial helpful travel viewpoint its bad. No narration of what they did and why for viewers to duplicate. It felt more like upscale home video of them on their vacation. Maybe she was unwilling to realize that they as a couple in that particular van were a bad idea for extended periods of time. Maybe he felt trapped by her vision of their future. I think she would still be alive if they had bailed on the rest of the trip and went home after Aug. 12. The Utah police did not release the body cam footage of the female officer talking to her that day. What they did release was one POV that was more slanted towards Brian. I wish Gabby would have realized bailing at the right time is sometimes smarter than finishing what you wanted to do. I am leaning towards he killed her in the heat of the moment during an argument. I wonder if he'll be found today.
