Is there a thread for all things Biden? I would have thought at least there would be one here.

Not sure why we would have a thread about him.

Not sure why we would have a thread about him. There's always a thread about Presidents over the years. Why not Biden and his administration.

because he is about as interesting as a pot of mush? I agree but it would be interesting to see what is said about him or his administration.

for the record, this is how I want my government: boring.
the more interesting they are, the less I want them.
this is like a vacation compared to the last four years.
I have never enjoyed normal so much.

I'll go! Just like President Obama, who was handed a big pile of shit, so was President Biden.
Pandemic: The country was left so divided over stupid things....like wearing a fucking mask to protect each other. Then the Delta strikes, Red states are still doing everything they can to keep the pandemic going. What do you want him to do?
Afghanistan: this chaos would happen no matter who was president. The deal was signed and American citizens had ample time to get out. Arrangements should have been made to get out people who helped us. There is enough blame to go around from the last 3 Presidents on this one. We want out!
Economy: Whew, wee, it is booming. The stock market is at an all time high! Thank you President Biden!!!
What else?

There will be someone with “feelings” about how things are going. They will complain about this issue, regardless of facts, and be unpersuadable, because feelings are the new facts. It will likely be something that Fox News is harping on. Like the fact that migrants are the cause of the Covid surge in Texas

OMG, they just keep coming: We don't have to worry about our President blackmailing one of our allies to get dirt on someone. We don't have to worry about our President inciting a riot on our Capitol building. We did need a Biden thread! Thank you so much for starting this!

A man with the wisdom to know he is a public servant with a job to do, and that it is not about him. Joe Biden is quite old, but I like the wisdom age has given him. Not sure I would have wanted Joe as Prez when he was 50, or 60. But he has certainly grown in stature with age.
Oh, and the stock market is at an all time high.

Well the Afghan Super Bowl game is over and we lost so now it's time for all us Monday morning quarterbacks to review the game. I've been watching all the news channels for insight on the game. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox, MSNBC. Plenty instant replays, analysis, fumbles and commentaries of Biden and the White House and Pentagon spokespeople to digest. I must say the last quarter of the game was a real nail biter. How was coach Biden going to pull this off and still save face with the world.
One of the most common threads with them was that we are going to leave about 100-200 Americans behind and a whole bunch of Afghans that worked for us and the military equipment now in Taliban hands and didn't destroy the stuff like we did in Vietnam when we left. Billions of dollars of it. I'm sure Russia and China will surely want to take a look at the equipment we left. Also, I don't understand why so many Americans citizens didn't leave months earlier when they had the time to do it. I'm sure the writing was on the wall.
Some of of the news shows alluded to or compared it to our leaving to the fall of Saigon in 1975. It's going to be interesting to see what happens next. I fear mass executions by the Taliban or US having to pay billions in ransom to get any American hostages back.
This is a truly sad day for the US.

Yeah....a sad day! Not as sad as when we put boots on the ground with no mission in mind of what we were doing 20 years ago.

One thing is for certain in your game, we'll all get to listen to Trump continue to rile up his base with how great his deal with and this big lie: We don’t normally pay much attention to claims made by the former president, as he mostly just riffs golden oldies. But this is a new claim. A version of this claim also circulates widely on right-leaning social media — that somehow the Taliban has ended up with $83 billion in U.S. weaponry. (Trump, as usual, rounds the number up.) The $83 billion number is not invented out of whole cloth. But it reflects all the money spent to train, equip and house the Afghan military and police — so weapons are just a part of that. At this point, no one really knows the value of the equipment that was seized by the Taliban. www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/no-the-taliban-did-not-seize-83-billion-of-u-s-weapons/ar-AANVgle?ocid=msedgntp

This is a truly sad day for the US. And it has been a sad day for the US every time an American (or an Ally) died in Afghanistan since 2001. I'm pretty sure we "lost" this war fairly early into it. Not to mention the Billions of dollars Americans will yet have to pay for it. If you need to feel like America "won" - why not focus on what is most likely a pyrrhic victory for the Taliban. Yes they "won" but at what cost and will it be worth it to them? Perhaps Russia or China will step in and take over (perhaps by backing/controlling a faction within the Taliban)? Personally, I'd rather just out right "lose" than suffer thru to a pyrrhic victory - because I feel that is where this going. Perhaps the conversation can switch to how the next Republican President plans to PAY for the debt and expenses for this war that will continue to effect Americans for years to come? Maybe some of that "trickle down" money can be used to pay for it? Give the wealthy MORE money - so they can generate more money to pay for the war effort Perhaps they can "kick" the dirty work of doing that to a Democratic President

You KNOW this was trump/Republican's plan - why else would trump have made a deal with Taliban and NOT include the Afghanistan Government WE WERE BACKING I'm guessing trump did one of his special deals - Hey, Taliban we will push to have the US out of here in 2021 - if I'm president we'll give you Afghanistan without a fight - all we ask is that you "take over" without destroying/killing too many people. Let us leave waving our flag. If a Democrat is president - make noise do you what you have to do wave that Taliban flag high!!! Either way you get the country - we'll stymie/discredit the Democrat who finished the war OR we'll keep backing the Taliban after the take over. Since a Democrat got to finish the war - I'm pretty sure the Taliban are looking forward to whatever good relationships they will have with America once the next Republican president takes over. Win win for Republicans Win Win for the Taliban. The question IS what and how much will the Republican's continue to spend on Afghanistan now that their new friends the Taliban are in control Maybe trump cut a deal with Russian and China about this too?? Maybe trump got North Korea in on the deal... He is the Master of the Deal. America didn't lose - we WON!! (perhaps America can take a cue from Milo Minderbinder (capitalism) in Heller's book Catch 22 and find a way to profit by selling arms to the Taliban while giving them the money to buy those arms!!! Capitalism at it's finest!)

Do you honestly think we left behind super top secret equipment? We didn’t. Trump put the plan to leave in motion before he left office, with an end date of May 31st, so they’ve been removing and destroying all the important stuff. This is not a ‘run away’ situation. Yes it got messy at the end, but that would have happened regardless of which president finally pulled the trigger on that shit show. Trump is now trying to claim he would have done it better. Since he also announced he would provide us with beautiful and cheap health care, a beautiful peace agreement with his BFF Rocket Man, a beautiful Middle East agreement arranged by his personal wizard Jared, and a beautiful middle class tax credit to match all the freebies he gave to the rich - and yet failed completely at all those things - I have no doubt, if he actually had the balls to shut down our longest war, he would have fucked it up even more. Biden will go down in history as the president who finally terminated that endless sucking money and soldier pit when five previous presidents couldn’t get it done. And no, they did not leave any useable equipment behind. Saw on the TV tube this AM they permanently disabled anything they left.

I won. I didn't have to go to the Afghan. I think a lot of American service men and women are also winning right now.
It is a messy exit to be sure, but this is a very good thing, loooong overdue.
Thank you President Biden!
And, to give she big fat liar his due- Trump's instincts were right here too, he just couldn't get it done.

Yeah I think everyone agreed 20 years was long enough.
I don’t think anyone anticipated how quickly the Afghanistan army would fold. Apparently it was common for army leaders to create fake ‘ghost’ soldiers’ and then pocket their pay, so in theory we trained 380000 troops, but who knows how many were actually real.
It was always going to be a mess when we left, and who wants to keep funneling tax dollars into such a corrupt country.

I think it was along the earliest possible timeline. as Biden pointed out, half the country was already lost in Jan.
