Do you not have a television?? Every day I see videos of people flooding across the river. So you're saying if we threw open our border and let the whole world in this would be a non-story and no crisis? What about National security? Federal, State and Local budget tax burdens with all the additional people we'd have to take care of? based on this, I am going to say no:
The current net migration rate for U.S. in 2021 is 2.820 per 1000 population, a 1.3% decline from 2020. The net migration rate for U.S. in 2020 was 2.857 per 1000 population, a 1.24% decline from 2019. The net migration rate for U.S. in 2019 was 2.893 per 1000 population, a 1.23% decline from 2018.
You don't think your facts are going to change his mind, do you? It's all about felings now

the bigger scandal is that the border flooding was never reported under Trump.

I heard that there might be + 2mil added illegals this year. Does that change the percentage?

that means that if 2mil have been added, then 1mil have left.
so, sure. net migration would be negative if not for those 2mil.

Question. Your percentages........are they legitimate legal migration numbers or do they include the millions of illegals? After all, the WH Press Secretary stated this week she has no knowledge these migrants are staying in country. (evidently they are here on holiday or visiting extended family members before going back home) Our local news showed the migrants off loading from their plane in the airport hplding paperwork to hold up to attendents upon arrival "we do not speak English, can you help us with" and there is a list of about four questions to show the attendents. Obviously these are not tour groups from other countries On top of that there is no communicationfrom any federal government agency telling the states how many are being dropped off in the state with any instructions for their care.

Can you link the source? What I heard was about unless you can make an asylum claim you are getting shipped back out. I seem to remember seven flights per day of Haitians being flown back to Haiti.

Question. Your percentages........are they legitimate legal migration numbers or do they include the millions of illegals? it's from a UN report. they don't take legal status into account.
I might also add that "illegals" is not really a valid term. they are only illegal if they can't obtain amnesty. there is no way of knowing that until they have been processed.
if you want to say "illegal border crossers" I can go along with that. but their status is "UNDETERMINED", not "illegals", whatever that means to you.
I would also note that the migration numbers are generally higher than those provided by immigration advocates. I have GENERALLY said over the past decade that the net migration rate is negative. the UN report is more generous to the anti-immigration position than that. so, I guess you should thank me for being reasonable. but I am guessing I won't get any thanks. which means that I will be reverting to my previous position in future posts.

Thank you That was a reasonable well thought out response. I will try to use your term "illegal border crossers" in the future. Good description. (VB runs off for a pen and paper to write it down so he remembers to use it)
