I'm not thrilled at all. But considering how much bullshit he inherited when he was sworn in (Covid, Afghanistan, Border Crisis), I think he is doing better than most of the other candidates would have done. This wasn't going to be an easy term for the person who won, and most people know that.

as to your contention about Biden's decline- it would be well for you and everyone else to keep in mind that there is only ONE president in the history of Gallup that has polled better on Day 640 than Day 1 of his presidency. bonus points if you can guess which one without looking.
Biden, and those that supported him, should be GLAD that his foibles are coming early. there is plenty of time to make up ground.
edit: the polling I have seen correlates more closely to the pandemic than Afghanistan. is there anyone here that thinks the pandemic will be worse in three years than it is today? really? you should get some supervision for that drug problem if you do. it is a virtual lock that we will be at herd immunity before then. at 150k cases/day, with a 150M people unvaccinated, it will take 1000 days, which is less than 3 years to get to 100%, which is well beyond what we need. so even if NOBODY were to get vaccinated from here on out (vaccination rates are rising, for the record), this is going to be over before the next presidential race.

Three years from now it will be evident that Trump fucked up the initial response (or non response) to Covid by pretending it wasn’t happening, then appointed a room full of volunteer interns to try to by pPE supplies with government credit cards, then discouraged mask wearing and belief in medical experts.
When Biden walked in, he faced angry anti mask/anti vac people and a bunch of GOPers fanning the flames, including Trump, who refused to encourage people to get vaccinated because he ‘didn’t want to help Biden’.
It will be clear, three years from now, that it was those angry MAGA anti vac people who caused the Delta variant to be as bad as it is.
Of course, Trumpists will try to claim Biden didn’t stop the virus, but at that point, it was a steam roller flattening the unvaccinated- not much you can do with willfully stupid people.

trump urged Baradar's release in 2018. Afghanistan's new interior minister heads a US-designated terror group and has a $10 million US bounty on his headThe Taliban on Tuesday announced a new interim government in Afghanistan that excludes women and includes the head of a militant group who's wanted by the FBI. Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, one of the Taliban's founders, was named prime minister. He's on a UN blacklist. And Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, a Taliban co-founder, has been tapped as deputy prime minister. Baradar was captured in a US-Pakistani operation in 2010 and imprisoned in Pakistan until 2018. He was released under the urging of the Trump administration amid peace talks between the US and Taliban, and would go on to lead the Taliban delegation in the negotiations. Wouldn't it be nice if we could find a conservative poster somewhere who could actually post sensible things and contribute to a discussion? How long HAS it been?

the most appalling argument i have had on this board was with OldCoyote. this was just before i put him on ignore. he was arguing that the virus wasn't a real problem. i argued that it might kill 1M. he was incredulous. i told him that was my high estimate, if everything went wrong.
well, everything went wrong. i still think 1M is possible. i have vascillated on that constantly, for those watching, because MANY here thought that it was NOT possible, and there is only so much speculation i am willing to make without support. but i never really doubted it was possible.
today, i think it is likely. this epidemic is already the worst loss of any single event in US history, topping the Civil War and the 1918 Spanish Flu. and no matter how it turns out, Trump is going to get the blame for that. because once this disease entered the population (something that was AVOIDABLE), it was over. that mistake cost us 50-65k right off the bat. the mistakes SINCE then have cost us the rest.

I think people on this forum have enough common sense to know how screwed up it was to begin with and how little support he is getting from governors from red states. I don't think it will ever end with the divide Trump created.

Unless brown people germs are magically floating up here from Texas I am pretty sure the boarder has jack shit to do with how poorly Nebraska and Iow are doing and certainly have nothing to do with the vaccination rates around here. Brown people aren't making it against the law for schools and business to have mask mandates. They aren't the ones that told schools they aren't allowed to quarantine students. Everything they say is a direct parrot of something Trump has said.

Florida and Georgia Trumpists are also pushing the claim that Covid is a dirty immigrant problem and Biden is letting hordes of them across the border. Has nothing to do with all the Trumpists claiming the vaccines are lethal and cow dewormer is the real answer.

Since This is a Biden thread I would like to point out that, while Trump turned every single thing into an us versus them fight, Biden has thankfully returned to trying to unify the country, so we don’t tear ourselves apart. And I appreciate that.
By the way, Trump has already stated Dems have interfered with the California recall vote. Because apparently it’s simply impossible for GOP candidates to ever actually lose.

Since this is a Biden thread and we’ve got some posters irate about Biden’s Afghanistan exit, I thought I would share that on 9/11, Trump is being paid to narrate an Evander Holyfield/ Vitor Belford pay per view boxing match.
Fort reference, George W Bush will deliver a keynote speech at the flight 93 memorial. Obama and his wife will pay tribute at the 9/11 memorial in New York, and Biden will visit all three sites of the attacks
Especially ironic since Trump was a life long New Yorker.
I thought he would be classy enough he might end up selling commemorative plates, but no, he found a garish new low to sink to.

Then they go to work at one of the dairy farms that kind find non crackhead local workers where they basically never leave the farm.

I put my thinking cap on! My first choice was Clinton, but I think it has to be a Republican as this is sort of a trick question at least for me! Has to be one of the Bush's...........first impression was Bush II due to 9/11, but I bet it is Bush I only because he crashed in his last year and wound up losing re-election.......

They are hysterical about the crisis at the border because Biden has opened the floodgates and allowed all the diseased brown people in. There actually is a crisis at the border, but it’s because Biden has NOT opened the floodgates and let everyone in. Did he crisis is the holding camps are too full, and yes that gives Covid a good chance to spread, but the people are contained in the camps.

Trump says he wants to box Biden on 9/11.
What a perfect way to honor the fallen. (Sarcasm)
I kind of wish they would fight. Biden exercises with bike rides. Trump famously drives his golf carts on the greens so he doesn’t have to walk and lives off burnt steak, hmburderers and chocolate cake. All Biden has to do is walk briskly to keep out of arms reach of Trump until Trump gets tired.

Of course everything is not fine. There are a bunch of troglodytes who won't get vaccinated or mask because some stupid Republican leaders convinced them their god given rights were being trampled on if they couldn't infect other humans, Afghanistan's military utterly failed and our departure was resultingly messy, and it seems half the country is either on fire or flooded. I'm not sure how much of that I can reasonably hold Biden personally responsible for. I'm sure not nearly as much as you. As for polls, the next presidential election is over 3 years away. What the polls say right now is of less than zero consequence. You can continue to watch them daily for the next 3 years if you want (and I'm certain, only post them here when they show what you want them to show) but if you're thinking that a poll in 9/2021 tells you who will be elected in 11/2024 you're off your nut.
