So how do we explain Nebraska, which is landlocked mayo land, being overrun to the point where we are desperate for medical personnel. Are people secretly bussing all the brown people up here now because Florida and Texas spoke up?

It's also occurred to me that the agents transferred to the southern border and immediately getting Covid are much more likely getting it from A) the local population they are bumping into immediately (hotel, fast food, transportation, etc); B) new co-workers bringing them up to speed on duties; and lastly C) immigrants they come in contact with during their duties. Which groups are the most likely vectors? Especially if they get ill and need to quarantine IMMEDIATELY... Duh…..they’re getting it either in transit or from locals. Most haven’t had contact with immigrants yet if they are getting covid immediately. It’s all in the spin, right?

Yep, we are very familiar with procedures here on the northern border. Local politicians have been agitating to open the US side to Canadians ($$), as soon as the Canadian govt opened the border everyone itching to cross the bridges learned exactly what they had to do... I understand this. Locally, this down has been harmed by the lack of Canadian traffic. I read one report that Canadians provided $550 million in tax revenue to this county. That is not insignificant. Locally, you have to schedule for a PCR a week in advance to travel. There was some bitchiness on NextDoor about travelers taking all the PCR tests away from those who need it for possible exposures. There are a lot of other places where you can get tested, but limited places for a specified PCR. I scheduled earlier this week for our flight next week. Same here with cross border business; we are pretty used to popping over a bridge to shop, drink, picnic. I have several relatives that couldn't use their cottages on the Canadian side due to the travel ban. Local news has had sob stories of couples/families separated for months unable to see one another, protesting to open the border (or give them a pass). It's just never been a problem, before. There's at least one company doing PCR tests on demand and advertising it on tv. Once the Canadian side opened, they changed their pitch to focus on that.

Yep, we live about 45 min from TD’s mom, and there have been a few situations in the last year where he hasn’t been able to get up and see her….like when she was hospitalized for being septic from a UTI. It drove TD nuts he couldn’t go up and help. His dad lives in Calgary, which is much more of a haul for us. We are going to have to make a run up there. He has lung cancer….has been holding his own….but it is pretty advanced. A lot of Canadians have local property here too, and they’ve not been able to check on things. It doesn’t seem fair that Canada opened up to the US, but the US has not reciprocated.

They must be sick of being bussed all over the country. I’d like to hear from the bus company who is paying for it. I bet it’s George Soros.

I have found the bell curve of people applies always. ah, the school of "10% of everything is great". love it. And 10% sucks. And the rest are somewhere in between.

Theory going around....
Apparently there has been a correlation between the number of minutes Fox news talks about immigrants spreading covid and the number of vaccines being administered in red areas (or red states, or something). The theory going around is that Fox News is having a crisis of conscious and had to figure out a racist, fear-based, anti-immigrant way to encourage their viewers because just encouraging the vaccine wasn't working.
I definitely have a whole bunch of grains of salt - but I like the theory.
