A grocery store is giving $10 gift card to their store. We are getting cheated.
And nothing for those of us who got vaccinated some time ago.

Today is the day for hesitant wife to get her second Moderna shot. Unfortunately she has to work so the shot is scheduled for the end of the day giving her time to panic. But she did go in an hour early to get her 8 hours in, her employer is giving $100 bonus, and in two weeks she won't have to wear a mask at work. She has a sore on her nose from a mask rubbing so that should help. Plus she has coworkers who she doesn't necessarily respect refusing to be vaccinated and I think she is motivated to bare her nose so she can thumb it at them. And she is taking the next three days off "just in case" (I have avoided pointing out that sometimes side effects don't hit immediately). So all told, I think we are golden.

Jabs for spite works for me. It's also a lot easier to explain than getting the jab in order not to be seen as one of "that bunch".
If schildi were still around, he could tell us the word for it in German.

I'm in a blue state and we are following the CDC guidelines, but mask use is probably about 50% in most stores. Even better, the case count has been averaging under 500 for probably 7-10 days.
And my son got his 2nd shot a couple days ago! I still have 2 more that aren't eligible, but it makes me feel better knowing it's not floating around quite as much.

I was going to say that, so I will. I have been fully vaccinated since sometime in February. I will show up and be an interesting and hopefully delightful travel companion. I know you and TD love going out for good food. I do too, although my income no longer supports that. I love trying new food and places. I'm not a sister, but I am an interesting internet stranger.... so there's that.

As we discussed before I will only book for you if you are fully vaxxed. Please send me a scan of your vax card by Saturday so I have that available when needed. PS: I will understand if you have not gotten vaxxed and I love you anyway. But if that is the case TD and I have decided to take our fully vaxxed dear friend empress of self-improvement along. Love, Mich

Delta variant is now thought to have a transmission advantage of 60% on the Kent variant. Its also more likely to cause serious illness. It is dampened by the vaccine but not completely. "Nearly two-thirds of people infected with the Delta variant, and more than half of those who have died with it, have not had a Covid vaccine at all, the latest official data suggests" "And of 42 deaths in people with Delta variant infections, 23 were unvaccinated and seven had received only one dose. The other 12 had received two doses more than two weeks before." www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57441677Not looking good for us fully opening up tbh.

I haven't worn a mask since the CDC stated vaccinated people don't need to wear one (unless the business requires it). Apparently, no one here trust the vaccine or the CDC.

I have worn them where they are not required, but the majority was wearing them. My husband said if the employees are wearing them, he will too - out of respect, I guess.

That's sweet of your husband. After two days of wearing a two strapped N95 mask in 80 degree inside heat, I might have been broken. After work yesterday I went into Whole Foods sans mask, just wanting to not feel my sinuses pinched and my head sweating. I was planning on just downgrading to the blue surgical masks in stores, but I think I'm broken of the desire to protect myself. Somewhat. I just think if I can get in and out of here in 15 minutes, I'm good, I'm vaxed, ... and I probably need to start wearing foundation again.

I live in an area with a low rate of vaccinations and mask use. My wife works in a higher risk environment and she just got her second shot yesterday. I am well past two weeks from my second shot but I still mask up inside. I think there is a very slight possibility I can suck in virus and exhale it into our home. I don't think it will make me sick but for the next two weeks I think my wife is still at some risk. I trust the vaccine. I have a general sense of what the CDC is recommending but I don't let others dictate the details of my decisions. Besides, I have a cool collection of masks that I rock. Sometimes fashion rules over function. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png)

As for letting others dictate what I do, that's exactly why I am not wearing one. Most everyone where I live is still wearing a mask. All my vaccinated friends say they are still wearing them solely based on the fact that everyone still is...well, I trust the vaccine and I'm not going to continue to do something just because everyone else is doing it.

For me, it's not the vaccine or the CDC I don't trust. It's everyone else. Stupid people are everywhere.

We wear masks in most situations where we are in contact with people since there have been incidents of breakthrough infections in vaccinated people. Having survived this far, unlike many of our friends, we are being cautious, particularly in light of the variants.

Same as empress of self-improvement and @donethat Too many crazy Trumpers live in my area and are not wearing masks. I can't tell who they are. I also have made it this far without catching covid and I do not want to end up with a variant either.

This morning is the first time I have not worn a mask into the grocery store since March 2020. About half the people in the store were masked.
It is nice to be able to sniff to see whether or not the nectarines are going to be good.

No masks in stores if I can be in and out in 15 minutes, but masks outside to protect against pollen and the coming ragweed.

Funny partial story, when shopping today I encountered a conservative man-splainer. After playing how cool am I dropping scientific names for some of my pets and pets he had, he later approached a worker with a magnet. He tried to get me to play his game, but I was having none of it. Humans have magnetic fields, big whup. I will not listen to your crazy ass recycled fake stories about chips in the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. (I wonder why he didn't ask if I had J&J?) I forgot how I freaked him out at checkout, but he went on about dead people or cemetaries. So I started listing fun facts and experiences from my journey in healthcare; stopping I think with finding the right size of plastic pipe for someone to save them. Maybe that did it? Its within the last year or two I learned there were various sizes of trach "pipes?" etc. Too bad he missed the pee, feces, and large patients who like remaining nude in their bed discussion
