30 minute wait is for special people like me with past anaphylaxis to injectable medications. The standard wait is 15 minutes. I think at this point, most vaccine sites have the process down. Ah! OK. I doubt they will keep her 30 minutes. She's gotten yearly flu shots with no problems for a decade or two. I bet she's counting her reaction to the Shingrix vaccine as having had an "allergic" reaction. That's probably why she was so adamant about having to stay the full 30 minutes. I bet when she was asked about reactions to shots - she probably said yes because she did get a rash at the injection site and didn't feel well for 2 days after getting the first Shingrix shot (she did better with the second one). My BFF has an allergen list a MILE long. (it such that we are all aware of what to do in the case of an emergency). But, my BFF is NOT allergic to the common vaccinations/shots that are given to adults. She was cleared to leave 15 minutes after getting the Covid19 shot.

So if she wants to stay for 30 minutes what is the problem?? Many people think discomfort such as constipation with opiates is an ‘allergy’
If staying 30 min allows her decreased worry then fine

Yup, she got her vaccine in February. Just rotten luck. But I view it like the flu vaccine. You can still get the flu even with the vaccine. So buyers, beware. Of course you can still get it. I don't know why anyone thinks otherwise as the vaccine has never been advertised as 100% effective. Was it rotten luck or did she spend a lot of time maskless after February? Rotten luck. If she hadn’t gotten into a car accident, she’d never been exposed. Her poor husband, she was his caregiver. I don’t know who will take care of him now.

This morning I had to stop at the bank, one of the few that actually lets you walk inside right now, and the older teller that was telling me a few weeks ago that she just wasn't sure about the vaccine was working, and coughing so hard that she had to walk away to get a drink. Thankful for the plexiglass barrier, and that I still wear a mask wherever I go...

And unlike many people I usually take my mask off once I am back in my car, not as I walk through the parking lot.

I can cough horribly when my sinuses start to drain.

I will be calling my hair dresser to find out if she has been vaccinated. If she still has not been vaccinated, I will be going elsewhere.
She also clerks at a grocery store and the store no longer requires masks.

I expect you are the same..... but we have had a lot of outbreaks in care homes where old and vulnerable adults have been very badly effected.
They didn't develop that disease spontaneously....... infected individuals came in to their place of residence and gave them the virus.
And still.... we have carers, working in multiple facilities who are refusing vaccination.
If it were up to me, these people would be looking at another career

If it were up to me, these people would be looking at another career No they shouldn't have, but workers at a facility aren't the only possible vectors. Your care homes are open to outside visitors and require no quarantine after certain types of visits outside the facility. Your care homes aren't locked down from inside visits nor outside ones. Neither is NJ. www.gov.uk/government/news/more-restrictions-eased-for-care-homesCare home residents will be allowed 5 named visitors from Monday 17 May, up from 2 currently
Self-isolation no longer required following visits to GPs, dentists and day centres
For people who don't work in facilities like this, you might be unaware of how many visitors or visits there are in a day or a week. On the weekends, our visit schedule is cut in half because of staffing. It is always full. Depending on the current census on one side, that means 20 to 40% of the residents can receive a visit on Saturday or Sunday.

Beautiful kids and fabulous message Woman I hired to do gardening is here - outside- and started in she’s uncomfortable with the ‘rushed’ vaccine . Don’t know enough about it , need more time So I just stopped her talking about nonsense and said But we do know about Covid, even if you don’t die - lung, heart, kidney long term problems and far more than in 0.001% of serious vaccine reactions. Just because you’re vaccinated doesn’t mean you’ll never get a heart attack, etc She shut up

I pointed out it was a moot point if her daughters could never carry a pregnancy safely due to their damaged heart or kidneys caused by the Known damage caused by covid.

Joke How can you know if that unmasked person is fully vaccinated or not? Ask them who won the 2020 Presidential election.

I brought my foster dog to an outdoor adoption event today. Masks are not required outside, and relatively few people were wearing them. I had one in my pocket for if needed. The only time I used it was when 3 masked younger people came to see my dog. I figured if they were wearing the masks, I should too to make them more comfortable. It was refreshing to see faces and smiles.

DS2 got his first AstraZeneca dose on Thursday. DDIL was told by her doctor that due to her health problems she is to get the Pfizer vaccine - I don't believe they use Moderna in Germany but Pfizer is what he told r so that is what she'll get. Unfortunately there is a big shortage of that vaccine so she'll have to wait at least amonth longer.
So ultimately in my widely spread out family only DS2 will end up with a not Pfizer vaccine

Yesterday the largest grocery store chain (besides Walmart) in our area had taken down their mask required sign. Very few were wearing masks.

I went to Sams Club Saturday, and was surprised to see most people still masked up. I didn't have to, being vaccinated, but wore one anyway.
Masks were still required at the outlet mall stores. Otherwise, I haven't been out much.

We are fully vaccinated, but grabbed a sandwich is a super-red area as we were driving through. Half the people were open carrying in the shop, and aside from the workers, only a few had on masks - mostly older. I didn't know what to do - what message was wearing a mask sending? Maybe they just thought I was elderly. 👵

I just saw my first person having a meltdown over masks. I went for a pedicure today. They follow the CDC requirements so they only require masks if you are vaccinated.
I was sitting in the quiet room with a glass of wine. There was one woman on the other side with a mask. Two other woman came in with wine and sat down.
All of us but the masked woman were drinking. Even when masks were required, it was only until you sat and got good/drink. I’m usually respectful but this woman starts having a bossy fit that she can’t be around unmasked people. To the point that one of the workers had to come in. They moved her to a room where she could sit alone. And then she was mad about that because “why should I have to move”. Jesus, she was so rude and entitled that I would have taken off my mask if I had one on (I did wear it until I sat down because it isn’t that big of a deal).

I would just get out of there as fast as possible if I was uncomfortable. I admit I am very strategic in scheduling such appointments because I do not trust anyone to be honest about their vaccination status. I know several who have just had their second dose. This state was slow to open it to everyone.
DH's brother's family is not and will not vaccinate. They are going in stores/church/gym without masks. I know they are not the only ones.

So if she wants to stay for 30 minutes what is the problem?? Many people think discomfort such as constipation with opiates is an ‘allergy’ If staying 30 min allows her decreased worry then fine ☝this. too many people equate any adverse reaction (at the risk of using a specific pharma term) as an allergy. both of the places I got my doses were easygoing enough to let anyone that thought they needed 30min to stay. Just an update (and my reasoning about the 30 minute thing). She's a complicated person. It wasn't so much about her worry before the getting the shot as her response to people who DIDN"T stay the full 30 minutes (as per the "rule" she had in her head). My problem was with the "rule" she had in her head. She's all about following the rules and making other people follow them as well. If she heard she should wait 30 that means EVERYONE should stay for 30 minutes (but probably won't). Which then leads her to think that people who are released after 15 or 20 minutes have done it wrong (and that perhaps they are endangering other people or themselves). She's complicated that way. As it was - I wasn't able to go with her to vaccination event. She needed to be back home by 9:30am (her appt was at 9am. I was staying behind to be at her house at 9:30 (for a delivery of stuff). I did get her out the door a little early 8:30am (she didn't want to go early because she was suppose to get there 15 minutes before her appt.) I mentioned it probably didn't matter what time her appt was - they weren't going to make her wait until 9am to get the shot if she was there early. She got there 20 minutes before her appt - and she said she got the shot about 10 minutes after she "checked in" - so well before 9am. She was home by 9:20am (they kept her 15 minutes after the shot .) And the Delivery truck showed up at 9:40am. It all worked out. She was in good spirits when she got home. When she got there she saw that it was a "conveyer belt" thing - in that you queued up when you arrived and just moved thru all the stations - you just had to have your name on their list as having made an appt. She got the Moderna vaccine and she's got her second shot appt in 4 weeks.

Joke How can you know if that unmasked person is fully vaccinated or not? Ask them who won the 2020 Presidential election. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/04/17/us/vaccine-hesitancy-politics.htmlApparently the joke isn't that much of joke.... The States (or Counties) with the highest percentage of vaccinated people are States (or Counties) that Joe Biden won. I'm guessing Republicans aren't getting the vaccine because most of them have already had Covid19 and feel they are immune. (I'm guessing at some point we will hear about all the money wasted giving Democrats vaccinations - all they had to do was just get the virus and be done with it.)

I agree that We can’t trust people to be honest. But she can’t demand that people wear masks when the law says they don’t have to (trusting that they are actually vaccinated). I hate entitled people. There was a sign in the door so she knew before she entered that masks were not required for vaccinated people. She should have left. That’s what I would have done if I weren’t vaccinated. But nope, she was trying to make everyone else conform to her. I was irritated by her behavior that if I had a mask on, I would have taken it off! And I’m not usually an asshole in real life.
