SE, age 44, teacher. I got my first vaccination last week. They really want the kids back in school and I think with vaccinations for teachers we will be back soon.

My wife is a teacher and scheduled to get it later this week. Since they opened the 1b group up this week, I know that there has been a lot of confusion with where to sign-up. One of the larger medical groups here seems to have a lot of vaccines available, while the major hospital networks around the city haven't even begun to move to 1b or even notify anyone. Seeing this, I'm signing up for the notification lists of all the docs I go to just so I have all the info once it becomes available.. They typically will ask you to classify yourself into a category. Not really which category I would fit into. - 6'3", 200 pounds and that puts me at 25.2 BMI. CDC site says that "may" put you at higher risk (above 30 puts you at higher risk.
- I have angle closure glaucoma, which basically is glaucoma that can result in an acute attack so I manage with drops. I have no idea if that makes you high risk or not.
- The business I work for is considered to be an "essential business", but I'm not front-line.
- It says High blood pressure, which is something I've issues with but currently am managing.
Where would I fall in this?

I would imagine this happens in the States too. Wealthy couple chartered a plane to the Yukon, took vaccines doses meant for Indigenous elders, authorities saidLocated deep in Canada’s Yukon, the remote community of Beaver Creek is home to only about 100 people, most of them members of the White River First Nation. So when an unfamiliar couple who claimed to work at a local motel showed up at a mobile clinic to receive coronavirus vaccines, it didn’t take long for locals to become suspicious. Authorities soon found that the couple were actually wealthy Vancouver residents who had chartered a private plane to the isolated outpost so that they could get shots intended to protect vulnerable Indigenous elders. “I can’t believe I’ve ever seen or heard of such a despicable, disgusting sense of entitlement and lack of a moral compass,” Mike Farnworth, the British Columbia solicitor general, said Monday, according to the Vancouver Sun. Canadian media outlets have identified the couple as casino executive Rodney Baker, 55, and his wife, Ekaterina Baker, a 32-year-old actress whose recent credits include the 2020 films “Fatman” and “Chick Fight.” Each faces fines totaling the equivalent of about $900 for violating quarantine guidelines. Neither could immediately be reached for comment late Monday, and it was not clear whether they have attorneys. I got the first Moderna shot this morning.
Our healthcare system did an amazing job. From the appt scheduling to the vaccination process, their system was flawless. I was let in the door at 7:02 and was back in my car at 7:26 and that included by 15 minutes after where I had to sit.

Our county medical director just said that at the rate of doses we've gotten it will be another 90 days before the over 75 group who have registered will get vaccinated. That's unacceptable. Tomorrow the 65 and older are supposed to start. I want to hear what Governor Hogan has to say about how many doses Maryland is getting and how they are being distributed. I was looking at the state vaccine website the other day. It said they are only getting 10,000 doses a day and there are 1.5 million people in the current group to be vaccinated. I looked out of curiosity since he's pitching a fit about wanting kids in school at least on a hybrid basis by 3/1. Teachers are in the current group and I'm not seeing them all be able to get 2 doses by 3/1 at that rate of supply.

Went looking for Missouri's dashboard to see where we are at - I don't think we have one. Found an article that says we rank dead last with 4% vaccinated. Lovely.

Received 1st dose of Pfizer last Friday WA State 76 1b Tier 1
It was confusing. The county had some and was limiting it by age. First it was age 85 and up, then 80 and up then 75 and up. I got an appointment as soon as they dropped it to 75 and up. Meantime the state was saying 1b Tier1 was age 65 and up. I did get DH an appointment day after tomorrow at the Safeway pharmacy. Now the website says "no more scheduling until they get more vaccine". I have an appt for the 2nd dose Feb 10. Hoping it will be there.

I will go in for my first shot tomorrow. Honestly I feel a little guilty getting it ahead of others who likely need it more. I will get mine before my wife (a teacher) and my dad (78) who lives with us.
I’m a very healthy 50-yr old with no underlying conditions. Why am I getting it then? My employer has been working very hard to secure a few doses for key employees deemed essential to support the electrical grid. It was offered to me and I jumped at the chance. I just hope enough people get the shot(s) so things can get moving again.

WI, KS, NV, ID and AL. They're all so close though...within a percent or two. This is the best site I've found for up to date numbers.

Still waiting to get my 97 yo MIL a shot. MD Governor Hogan is diverting doses from the county health departments to pharmacies. This may be good for having more distribution locations but creates another list to get on. Phone calls aren't working. How many older people have internet/pc skills?

Does your county health department have a wait list for the elderly ken a.k.a OMK? My grandma's county in WV has a wait list for 75 and up. Then they just fill from the list and you don't have to try and call to get through.

My state was in the bottom half, but now it's near the top, apparently. I see teachers on Facebook saying they're getting the shots now, so we're just at the beginning of 1B. Maybe I should try to gain some wait to move into 1b. I wonder how much I'd have to gain. (Going to look...) Ok, no way I'm gaining that much! I guess I just feel obese.

So we have her on 3 county and 2 pharmacy lists. Such a lack of plan.

Geisinger has a great patient portal that you used to schedule the appt. the problem is that you had to confirm through 5 or 6 screens and then a final confirmation. My MIL is 77 and pretty good with a computer. I offered to do it foe her but she insisted that she got it. FIL showed up Monday for his shot, only to find out he had no appt. she logged in and neither of their appointments were there. She called and now the next available is March 9. Better than nothing but still sucks that they are so far out.

Finally got a Geisinger account but no appointments currently available. Dialed Evan 93 times to get past the busy signal and have been on hold 56 minutes so far. Will see if they have any available if they ever answer.

March 23rd is the date to beat. Will see if they open other places. Evan is doing 15 every 15 minutes, so basically 1 a minute ... and I got March 23rd...

As I posted earlier, I got my shot today, so far so good. I mentioned it on Facebook and the reactions have been somewhat strange. My MIL can’t believe I would allow that stuff to be injected into me (told her I apparently have more to live for than she does), while most of my friends seemed a little upset that I was able to get it “early” and that it’s not fair.
I shouldn’t be surprised, but there is some guilt in getting it ahead of so many. In reality I did nothing special, my employer made the arrangements and I went in when they told me to. We’ll have to see if I have any side effects tomorrow.

Don't feel bad. I was literally in the right place when they had leftovers and got mine so because they didn't want it to go bad.

We’ll have to see if I have any side effects tomorrow. DH and I definitely had some side effects in the first 24 hours. I didn’t broadcast them to anyone because I don’t want my side effects to be used to reinforce why people shouldn’t get them. I would rather chills, muscle ache and fever to severe Covid again ETA: I’m torn on the guilt thing. There really is no way to know who will get severe Covid and who won’t. My 81 year old aunt just got Covid around the holidays. She is heavy, diabetic and old. She was sick but nothing like me. So at 49, outside of weight I wouldn’t qualify but I’m the one that could have died and not her. So while I do feel bad that I’m jumping ahead of others, experience tells me that anyone can get a severe case.

MIL called Monday late in the day when she realized they didn’t have appts. At that point, geisinger was out to March 9.

I felt guilty when I first got vaccinated because I know others need it more, but I'm to the point of let's just get vaccines in arms.

Our neighbor found out Fryes foods had vaccine. He called and got right in as did his brother and another neighbor. If this happens again, I hope he remembers my H. We have given up on the county sign up. I cannot get the vaccine until Feb. 22. Maybe things will be freed up somewhat.

Got my shot this evening. In and out in less than half an hour with a 1t minute wait after getting the shot to make sure I didn’t have reaction. So far so good.

Got both shots. Pfizer. Because I volunteer at the hospital. No biggie and just a little sore. I haven’t grown a third eye, yet, but I’m not telling my kids because they’ll have a fit. Especially DD.
