I just got my booster at work. They were out of Moderna so I got the Pfizer. I texted my husband who said he hopes I don't feel bad later on tonight (I got a bad case of the chills with the previous shots). I replied "me too but even if I do get sick at least I won't end up in the hospital". That's definitely my priority!

I got a booster last year around Thanksgiving. My wife got the booster last year and broke out in terrible hives. It was really bad early on, but quickly moved to the manageable stage. Still, almost 10 months later, she has to take a Claritin everyday or else the rash will come back. She assumed she had a reaction to some shampoo she used, but she went back to her job and there were 2 other co-workers had the same thing happen to them. One of them said their dermatologist said that is a common side effect.

I was ok last year, but my older son and I both got pretty sick from the booster on Wednesday. He had a fever and chills and had to miss school and I was sick to my stomach and very achy all over.

They say you should wait 60 days for next vaccination. I got a fourth booster mid August so I would be set for start of school and wasn't positive when the bivalent shot would be available. Had today off so went to get update. Whoops, 58 days so no go. Did get my flu shot since I was there anyway, my first old person shot.

No, she's not going to get the next one, at least not in the near future. Pre-vaccines, she had COVID and her reaction to the vaccines was worse than when she had COVID...both the initial vaccine and the booster. I kinda felt bad because she didn't want to get the booster, but I encouraged her and she had that terrible experience. To add salt to the wound, she actually got COVID over the summer. I don't have much of a reaction to vaccines, but I'm probably going to wait a little bit.

DH and I both had our high-dose flu shots and, a week later, our Moderna boosters. The flu shot was 24 hours sore arm and zero reaction to the Moderna booster.

I have reacted to all 5 vaccines. I was sick to my stomach after 4 of the 5. Chills, fever, headache, etc. on the all of them.
Much better than getting COVID and being hospitalized.

I've got to get DH and me boostered. I didn't before now because we were traveling a bit. He did get the flu shot. I need to get that, too. DH is in a high risk category so I need to make it so.
Medicare (I think) has been sending packages of 8 Covid tests to DH each month now for 3 months. We did not ask for them, so I'm not sure how this came to be or how to make it stop. We have yet to use even one.

I need to get the booster. current plan has been to wait til I'm back from FL next weekend. how are people getting this one, is it booking online like the first shots? I think I'm okay to just go to a CVS for this one, I haven't had any allergy issues so far. I can bring an epi pen with me just in case.
re: side effects, I'm fully Moderna. #1, I slight fever and a solid night of comatose sleeping. #2, another good 12h of sleep. #3, no effects at all.

Stil have little sinus drainage down the nose, but will use at least one to test this weekend, given yesterday's encounter. Also good for me to get the process down as I was a receiver of swabbing, not someone cleared to swab visitors.

My mom got Pfizer #4 mid September. She tested positive yesterday. So far she said she's had worse sinus infections. I hope it stays that way. She's an OR nurse. It is kind of surprising she didn't get it before now. Most of the entire surgical team at her hospital got it at some point. She's going back next Monday. Sorry to hear she tested positive. I think it's harder to avoid for some of us because the symptoms mimic what we have this time of year.

BTW, I've read that the tests are actually considered good a number of months past their expiration dates. They were originally dated without any certainty as to how long they'd last. It has since been discovered that they are good for quite a bit longer than forecast. Expiration Covid tests

Got the Pfizer Bivalent booster yesterday, so far it's the mildest reaction I've had to the vaccines - It's been 24 hours since the shot - and I'm exhausted, headache-y and running a low fever. My arm hurts a little when I move it certain ways. I think i was "sicker" during the night - as I didn't sleep very well I tossed and turned a lot and kept waking up. I am very glad I did not do the Flu and Covid shots at the same time. I do not do well with the covid vaccine. I did feel draggy after the flu shot - but nothing like the fatigue after the covid shot. To the best of my knowledge I have not had Covid 19. Other than the 48 hours after a Covid vaccine I haven't really been "sick" - with a fever. I haven't had a cold (although I have woken up stuffed up (and it quickly went away once I was up for the day) - usually after sleeping with the windows open.) But, I know lots of people who have had it (sometimes many times since the pandemic started).

Got appointments for DH and I to get the bivalent booster on Tuesday. I'm getting my flu shot, too; DH already had his. So I'll plan we do nothing Wednesday, just in case. One more thing checked off the list.

There's a vax clinic at DS4's school this afternoon. I've registered all of us for shots - DH and I for flu shots (we already got the new bivalent Covid vax this summer), the boys for the bivalent Covid vax. Everything I am reading on Twitter says that there are a bunch of new variants all vying for most communicable status, and rising in percentage rapidly. But the best contenders are Omicron related, so best guess is that the bivalent vax *should* help somewhat. In other Covid news: Whites now more likely to die from covid than BlacksWashington Post, but should be a gift link, paywall free.

Dh got him and the kids in for covid boosters today. They highly recommended not doing flu shots at the same time for the kids which goes against anything else we've seen, but we can take them back for those next week.

We eventually opted to get the boys to get flu shots, too. We were going for the most important first, and could always get flu shots later at the pharmacy, but if we could get them all at once it was more convenient.

I just looked up the safe lead time between boosters and mammograms and it's 4-6 weeks. My mammogram appointment is 6 weeks from November 1. Just made an appointment for the bivalent booster for next Tuesday. BF got his yesterday.
Ordinarily I trust my immune system. (COVID, shingles and the last few years of flu vaccines are notable exceptions where I decided the risk of the disease was worse than any risk from the vaccine.) It's pretty strong, which may explain why I haven't even had a breakthrough case despite some extensive travel, but I also realized I'm not around small school children. Even my grandchildren are home-schooled so they're not, either, except for Sunday school once a week. DS works from home and DDIL is a SAHM. Other than my travel, not a lot of exposure, and I'm still masking on planes.

I got my flu shot Friday. Every vaccine I have had in the last few years, shingles, covids, and flus, left me feverish and achy. This time I felt fine and thought I was off the hook until I realized that the whopping headache I woke up with yesterday is likely a side effect. Really bad headaches are not normal for me. Tylenol didn’t do anything to alleviate it. This morning it is still there, but milder.

Since my job and industry has changed, I now feel like I know nothing current medically. Is the flu supposed to be bad this year or have you heard anything about it? Last I checked my county was not scheduling flu shots even though flu season has already started.

Yes, I think based on the flu season just past in the Southern Hemisphere they expected a bad flu season here. And the exploding "flu-like" illness rampant in the younger population (catch-all for RSV/flu/Covid/whatever) is over-extending children's hospitals, plus spreading it to the children's families and extended families. Of course that will spread it outward to the adults' coworkers. It seems the kids' illnesses are unusually long lasting, or maybe back-to-back repeat illnesses. No one has that much sick time, and employers are clamping down on sick leave, again. Someone on Twitter was commiserating with parents of toddlers-with-a-nasty-cough-going-on-week-three, and the thread of responses of "us, too! But it's week 5, 6, + " was LONG.

www.cnn.com/2022/10/24/health/covid-antibody-response-vaccines/index.htmlPeople who reported experiencing side effects to the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines such as fever, chills or muscle pain tended to have a greater antibody response following vaccination, according to new research. Having such symptoms after vaccination is associated with greater antibody responses compared with having only pain or rash at the injection site or no symptoms at all, suggests the paper published Friday in the journal JAMA Network Open.So does the fact that round 3 made me get the shivers so bad I puked mean I am super immune to COVID now? This is what I have been trying to explain to people for years in relation to the flu shot. The symptoms you are getting is not the flu vaccine giving you the damn flu. It means your immune system is doing what it is supposed to do that is a GOOD thing.

Same question as I puked after 4 of the 5 shots.
