I'm going to join one of those 90-day, $10 buy-in, healthy/weight-loss groups. A friend of mine is hosting it. If you'd like an invitation, let me know. It's February 14 - May 15.

Saturday: Floor exercises including stretching, crunches, leg lifts, yoga poses, and a few half planks. The latter I hadn't done in a few years and, boy, do those increase one's heart rate! I then did the treadmill, and worked with my 5 pound hand weights. I felt SO good. 4,000 steps or so for the day.
And, then..... Super Bowl Sunday. I slept in so no time for a work out. However, I was on my feet working in the kitchen for hours. Not sure what my total steps were. Tomorrow I start my birthday week celebration, and my goal is to keep things in check. We'll see.

The scale finally moved!!!! I am down 17 lbs! I can't even have sugar free sweeteners, they mess up my weight loss. Oh well, thank God I like what I'm eating. I also managed to ride my exercise bike for 5 mins. I'm going to make that a daily thing and increase the time.

How do you do a half plank? I don't know what it is.

I *almost* had a free elliptical today. I'd have had to rent a van or something to go pick it up, but whatever. it was posted on a free site, a couple towns away from me, and I saw it about a minute after it was posted. unfortunately it was huge, and would not have had enough clearance in the basement where I want it to go. that's a bummer.

How do you do a half plank? I don't know what it is. My assumption is knees instead of toes.

I was thinking elbows, which is harder. Could be knees, too.

I was thinking elbows, which is harder. Could be knees, too. Oh, interesting. I've never done elbows; that sounds painful. I could see full = palms and half=forearms.

Paced my basement again for 500 steps but got my step goal in. Met my water goal, too. Today will be easier to meet my step goal since I'm going to work. Whereas, yesterday, was my day off.

My weight isn’t moving at all.
I’m kicking butt in workouts, so I guess I’m eating too many calories. Meaning too much sugar. I can’t have one cookie. Gotta have like 6. Wtf is wrong with me?!
Instead of tracking everything I eat I think I’m going to just track the sweets hat I eat. Because the rest of my food is pretty healthy. I’m just a literal pig with desserts. It’s like a drug in my brain!

I think using myfitnesspal or a similar app for a week or two would be a great idea to see how many calories you are putting into your body and how many you actually should be eating to hit or maintain a certain weight.
I know that until I started tracking a month or so ago, I thought I was doing fine with eating. I was eating decent - not really any junk food, fairly good meals, but I was still overeating. Because eating a "snack" of yogurt and granola is still 250 calories after a lunch of a sandwich, brown rice, and veggie that was 600. Those two things were two-thirds of my daily calories without adding in breakfast and dinner.
I now measure out my rice, eat just straight protein instead of it on a bun, eat lower calorie veggies, etc.
Just saying what worked for me!

From everything I've read, our Pleasure Centers light up just as bright with sugar as it does with other addictive substances.

Once I'm through the initial detox I find it much easier not to have any sugar than to have it "in moderation".

Vitamins play a part in weight, too. I take kelp to keep my iodine levels up since I don't salt anything and I take magnesium glycinate for all the things it does. A good summary of its importance: blog.undoctored.com/why-is-magnesium-so-important/Then there's Vitex for mood balance, vitamin D, and B-complex. I plan on switching my B to a capsule or soft gel format so that it's better absorbed. Caplets just don't dissolve very well.

I’m down 8 pounds which puts me at 209. That was with a couple if empty carb lapses this week started by the Super Bowl that have stalled my losses this last week.
I noticed my face looks better, not as swollen. Even without makeup on when I catch a glimpse of myself I feel like I look better than I did 20 pounds lighter. Is sugar and Splenda really that damaging?
My next doctor appointment is next week. They will do a body scan and probably new bloodwork too. I’m hoping my blood sugar will be in the normal range then since I’m so close.
I’ve found myself making a lot a keto dinners even though I’m not on a keto plan. I’m still eat a good bit of fruit which isn’t hindering my weight loss but might still be an issue for my blood sugar. I’m not planning to make changes to my current habits unless blood work indicates I should or until my weight loss stalls. So far I’m not counting any calories at all and would like to keep it that way.

bobosensei, I don't know if your question about sugar is rhetorical but...yes, it's not great for our skin. I use liquid stevia by Plnt in my coffee.

I would like to join here. I have lost 12 lbs this past year - just by increasing my walks - I started with 2-15 to 20 mins walk, but now I am up to an hour.
I am a vegetarian and dont eat any meat or eggs, but have increased my veggie and fruit intake more than what I used to.
I am going to start walking with ankle weights soon to strengthen my legs. Has Anyone done this? Any tips that can help? Thanks

Typing this inspired me to look at my own work schedule and why I haven't been able to get in workouts like I would like.

20 lbs down this morning!!!! Later - please remind me what you're doing to accomplish this. I need to get serious. I'm trying to do intermittent fasting and only eat between 11 and 6 with only coffee before that. I think I did 4-5 days in a row before insomnia hit which means I'm watching tv until 11 or 12 and then get hungry and eat.

If you have heard any bad press don't believe it, I eat more veggies now than I did when I wasn't on it. Basically I replace carbs with good veggies. I follow a couple of FB groups that I find really helpful. PM me if you are interested, I will share the links.

azucena, I also am a low carber, and successfully lost 34 pounds a few years ago. I eat more vegetables now than ever, and there are plenty of low carb fresh produce options. I tend to prepare produce and steam eggs on Sunday, and plan suppers a week ahead of time, to ensure things will be thawed. All this being said: I just wrapped up celebrating my birthday for the past week. I ate off plan foods, though in moderation, and gained just a few pounds of what I think is water weight. I did manage to exercise Saturday before going out. Now, back to the program.
