Day 21: Stretched, yoga, and crunches before online class this morning. Am currently eating a WFH salad consisting of 5 different fruits and vegetables. Tonight's supper will include an additional three. I've upped my produce game. ETA: I also had celery for lunch, bringing today's produce intake to 9. The smoothies that I drink definitely help me get in a bigger variety at one time. I mean, I eat all kinds of fruits and veggies but the smoothies make it so that having pineapple, romaine, kiwi, and half a raw potato isn't that difficult. Those, mixed with two raw eggs and chocolate almond milk were breakfast this morning.

I’m doing better with improving my diet than exercising, so far. Now that I’m tracking my meals and snacks, the app I’m using says I don’t eat enough.
I’ve been trying to force myself to eat breakfast or at least a little something in the morning, but even when I do, the app says it’s not enough. It tells me to eat more to fuel my day, and eat more or less of this and that for optimal health.
I don’t doubt that the feedback is on point, I’m still trying to find my sweet spot for eating to live and be healthy.
I’m still working on my motivation to exercise. The sad truth is that after being on my feet all day at work, one of the last things I’m interested in is moving more, ie exercising.

Occasionally on weekends, I'll make one for brunch. My favorite combo is blueberries, strawberries, baby spinach, coconut milk, honey, a splash of pure vanilla extract and a dash of cinnamon. (I'm a low carber.) In the past, I've tried kale. Nope. It's a texture thing for me.

Day 22: I ended up eating a total of 10 fruits and veggies servings and used the treadmill yesterday. This morning I did what I'll lump into floor exercises for future simplicity sake: Stretches, crunches, leg lifts, and yoga poses. Feeling great. Putting this out here in case it helps someone: Yesterday (I am so productive when I WFH!) restarted my notebook of accountability. I know there are prepared notebooks out there, and cannot remember the fancy name for them, but I'm not buying anything new these days. I divide the 8 x 11.5 sheet of paper into columns, and label them with titles such as Water, Cardio, Sleep, O2, etc. I use a green check mark for a positive, and red for not, such as if my asthma is having issues. I started this last year after being diagnosed with CHF, and it helped me turn it around.

Some really good suggestions in this article from Real Simple. I made my step goal yesterday. I'm currently 550 steps from today's goal. I'm sure I'll get it. Even if I have to walk laps inside my house for 10 minutes. Got my water goal every day, too.

when I was working 2nd shift, I'd wake up around 8 or so, have a meal around noon (sometimes breakfasty, sometimes not) and then eat again by 7 or so. I was satisfied, never hangry, and I actually lost a few pounds as my body settled into the routine. since being home, I've tried to do that again, but haven't had the same success. so now I'm trying to force myself to eat just a few bites of something with my coffee first thing in the morning, a smaller lunch around 1, and then dinner around the same time as the pups. ~6ish or later. I'm about to go peel an orange for today's quick bites.

Thanks for the article nidena. I agree, especially with the first point. With all the research I've done over the past few years for DH and my this and that issues, I concluded they all boiled down to one thing: Eating clean. As in, protein, berries, and greens. Some suggested grains which I don't eat, but it is the same premise. No processed foods, read labels, etc. Lizard Queen, that's basically what I do. I am soooo not a morning person, and my stomach starts growling around 11:30. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm still focusing on vegetable intake. 5 Wednesday, 4 yesterday, and um....6 or so today....? According to an article I read last night, beans can be considered a vegetable, and the turkey chili that is currently in the slow cooker contains two different types. Happy weekend, everyone.

I eat breakfast before work. Usually around 6:30am and it's either some sort of egg/veggie/cheese scramble or a smoothie; then lunch sometime between 11:30 and 1:30. Dinner is a crapshoot. Sometimes it's a real meal. Other times, it's ice cream. Last night it was 8 Reese's PB cups and a 20oz Pepsi. SOOO good. I'm not gonna beat myself up about it. Today, I had a smoothie before my doc appt, a Starbucks Caramel Macchiato and Dragon fruit refresher afterwards, and then lunch was smushed eggs/avocado and apple sauce on the side. Right now, four different kinds of cheese in 2 oz sizes and a raisin/almond mix. I'll have a more substantial dinner in a couple hours. I'm 1600 steps shy of my goal. Since I'll be up for another few hours, I'll probably do numerous laps inside the upstairs and down around the basement.

today's been an interesting pattern. I had that orange around 830 (?), a half tuna salad sandwich on scala roll (~3"?) around 11, and picked at some cornbread stuffing around 2. dinner is in the oven now, a carnitas verde casserole that I'll plate with some white rice and a lot of fresh pico de gallo. I haven't input my intake into any calculators or anything, but I think the worst thing in that list is the stuffing - which is now gone. obviously the brick of cheese in the casserole isn't the best thing, but it isn't getting eaten in one sitting either.
I need it to warm up past about 25 degrees to be able to get back out walking the pups. LD can't handle that, he refuses to wear boots and hates his coat. I can't feel my fingers after about 10min outside in it anyway. so we've been sloths today, which sucks. I think I need to hurry up and figure out the bike/elliptical situation.

My lab work came back this afternoon. Only concern was B12 and (ugg) my GFR (kidney function had dropped int the last 6 months. Certainly water intake is the biggest concern, but I try to control my water intake starting about 4 PM so I don't have to get up so many times at night. Falling, even with all the lights I have on is a concern. I plan on talking to my PCP Monday morning when I see her. You ladies are shaming me into working my way into some reality here with all the good things you have accomplished. I know water: Veggies Fruits Fruit juice etc. I don't exercise, if I finally got a dog it would take me for a walk a few times per day. As it is, I have little encouragement until now to get myself into gear. My HD died from kidney failure and I don't want to repeat that.

Yesterday was 2100 steps. Today seems like it's going to be no more than 1000. The migraine is kicking my ass.

Sorry about the migraine, nidena. I get 'em too, but usually during the Summer months. Who else here is dieting by reducing or eliminating carbs? I've hit my first plateau on my current diet, and I've read that sometimes you should have "carb free" days. I'm trying it today, but frankly I'm a bit crabby without 'em. It feels like I've skipped my morning caffeine. I knew I liked carbs, I just didn't realize how my body craves them.

And 2 inches off my waist. And ya, I was....let's call it moody...for the first little while.

I never understand the statement "eliminating carbs" because fruits and veggies are carbs, too. I've been grain-free since November. There's definitely less inflammation and less bloat.

But, in the past, when I start eating cookies, croissants, fish & chips, the floodgates open and the next thing I know, I feel like caca and I've gained three inches of bloat.

I've been doing low carb/keto since Tuesday. I've lost 3.6 pounds. I think sometimes you have to shock your body when your current plan isn't working. Going low carb for a little bit might help do that. This past week went pretty well. Just hit my step goal with an average of 16,633 steps. Keto is going well, and I'm halfway to my goal. The first few pounds are the easiest though. This time I did get the urine test strip things to see if I'm in ketosis, and that's been helpful. I did two days of arm workouts - not fabulous, but it's a start. This week: I'm aiming for losing two more pounds Keeping step goal at 16,500 daily average Two days of arm workouts - I'll bump it to three next week Tomorrow is February - one month closer to the end of winter YAY! Have a good week all

I have to go out of my way, on a day off, to get another 3,000-4,000 steps in. I can't imagine 16,000. Though, getting to 10,000 steps will be easier when it's not dark so early or if I leave work before 6pm.

Did okay last week. Not a ton of outside time, but did use the treadmill a few times. And I am working from home today, DH left with the kids decently early enough, so I actually walked on the treadmill before I started work. The kids have swim lessons tonight, so it likely wouldn’t have happened tonight, so I’m glad it all worked out today.

I signed up for my free trail of the Peloton app. Let's see if I like the workouts. Hopefully so. It may get me to use my bike. I have just been using the treadmill. I have 20 pounds to lose. The 10 pounds to get back to where I was before lockdown and the 10 I already wanted to leose before lockdown started.
ETA: There is a 90s hip hop 30 minute cycling class that sounds like it could be my jam!

Just shoveled my driveway and sidewalk. I'm calling that my workout for the day. Didn't make it to work today so my steps are gonna be lower than normal.

I just ordered a yoga mat with an alignment pattern built in. hopefully going to start that in the mornings before I log in to work. I definitely need to add some stretching to my day.
do any of you have any free streaming options to recommend? thanks in advance!

Back up passed 6000 steps today. I'm glad for that. I may trek around the park tomorrow morning after I meet up with my trainer. Gotta see how cold it is first.

Great job on everyone getting their steps in! Had a phone appointment this morning, and managed to get floor exercises in beforehand. Have had two servings of tuna and a serving of flounder thus far this week. Trying, reallllly trying to keep mental and emotional health in the forefront via journaling, reading one of my sales books, talking to a longtime friend across the country, and overall relaxing.

my yoga mat arrived today. I'm probably not getting to it until the weekend, bc I do actually want to start a good habit. I'm already over this work week, as I made clear when venting at my boss this morning. my immediate goal is to survive til Friday.
so, that said, please and thank you -I'm looking for recommendations for free streaming yoga that is more focused on stretching and movement than strength. I've had problems with the latter, in that I have a wrist that physically cannot move the way some strength classes want and don't really want to offer adaptations. 🙄 but I definitely want to get back to the deep stretching I remember from before giving up on it bc of my wrist.
