I'm starting out small in January, and politics have gotten me completely thrown for a loop, but I'm doing okay most days. I'm adding 10 climbing steps/day, and I'm really starting to feel it in my core. And it's really quick.
Also, my DH decided to get back on the wagon with his diet, which helps me tremendously.

My Venu app has this Body Battery display. It tells me where my body supposedly is, energy-wise, on a 0-100 scale. I don't think I like it. The past three days, my body is never charged to more than 35, even after sleeping. I think it had a psychosomatic effect because I felt like crap today, called out of work, and ended up sleeping until passed noon. It took me sleeping a total of 14+ hours to "charge" to 100. Who has time for that?

I'm 12 lbs down. 4lbs a week is awesome. If I can keep doing that I will be very happy. But I"m not counting on it. My appetite has really decreased. That helps a lot.

So I got my lab results yesterday. Results were not good. My BP is up, my cholesterol is up, my fasting sugar was 116, my vitamin D and B12 were very low. My doctor offers group weightloss coaching so I'm signed up for that as losing weight should help. My peloton is being delivered this weekend. I can do this. I have to do this.

Day 15: Weight up from what I call "eating like a normal person" last weekend. A slice of cake, a few slices pizza, onion rings, etc. and POOF. The wheat, etc. just does not like my body. Focusing on eating clean the past few days. Speaking of, no cardio per se, but got in many steps rage cleaning the house Monday and Tuesday.

It's ridiculous. Or I don't understand it, haha. I feel your pain on it!

I was getting a little bummed about the lack of a "body battery" on my Garmin, but not if it is meaningless.

Yeah, I'm going to not put a lot of stock in the Body Battery from here on out. It's hard to ignore it, though, when it's the second tracked item on my app but whatever.
In other news: tonight's smoothie...one medium unpeeled potato, one skinned kiwi, 1/2 cup of pineapple, 1/4 cup of blueberries, two large romaine leaves, and almond milk.

I've never heard of putting a potato in a smoothie. My brain is trying to decide if that sounds good or not.

13 lbs down this morning. I have never been this good at weight loss. I think a couple of things that have made it easier is that I have steered clear of drinks with artificial sweetener. They seem to make me hungry. And I don't each as much hard cheese.

Day 17: Lost most of the water weight gained last weekend. Been getting steps in via walking to the garbage can closet, and piddling around the house. Drinking too much of the hard stuff, and I need to reel that in. Empty calories. Continuing to focus on vegetable intake, and at least one weekly serving of fish and shrimp. Have a wonderful weekend.

(forgive me if you've already addressed these issues in previous comments) I did get a vitamin d and b12 supplement. And take them with my multivitamin and biotin. When I got my lab results they redid a few of them but since I hadn’t been fasting they did my A1C. It was the lowest number in prediabetic range. I wasn’t aware that stopping wheat flour could help with the fasting sugar. I mean I know carbs aren’t good for diabetics or those with insulin issues but other than the doctor saying I should cut all sugar, sugar substitutes, and processed foods and do low carb or keto we didn’t talk about anything else nutrition related. Thanks for sharing about bread. I’m hoping I can lose weight and reverse this.

Thanks for sharing about bread. I’m hoping I can lose weight and reverse this. If you're a book person, check out Undoctored or Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis. WB talks all about how our grain-based foods have been Frankensteined into things that do not resemble, chemically, what they did 60+ years ago. Undoctored goes into detail about how many medical professionals are lead (knowingly and unknowingly) down the Big Pharma path. I saw this for my own eyes when I had a stress test a couple months ago. I had to do it with a mask on. Stress tests are difficult enough but they're even worse when you're mouth and nose are covered. I hyperventilated. During the follow up call with the nurse, a few days later, she says "The doctor recommends you go on a beta blocker. Which pharmacy do you want us to send the prescription?" I was, like, wait! Hold up! I have questions. I did my own research. Beta blockers are NOT good when you don't have high blood pressure--mine is 120/80 on a bad day--nor if you have low heart rate--mine is low 50s when I'm sleeping. I followed up with my PCM--who is NOT lead by Big Pharma--and she agreed with me that I just needed to adjust my eating and get more active to take care of the issues that I was concerned about. Lastly, CARBS are just fine for diabetes. After all, VEGETABLES are carbs. GRAINS are not good for diabetes.

Re: low B12. Any chance you have pernicious anemia? I was diagnosed with that when I was 18 - basically my body doesn’t easily process B12, especially from non-food sources, so mine is treated with B12 injections. When my B12 levels are low, I am very fatigued, and can see an almost immediate difference after a B12 shot.

I’m kind of confused. I went to the Dr on 1/13 and weighed 180lbs. The most I’ve ever weighed in my life. The last time I saw her, it was 179.something, so 180 was not a surprise unfortunately. My scale at home has always been in line with the one at my Dr’s office. I didn’t weigh myself at home until a couple nights ago. Scale said 175.5lbs. Last night it said 173.5lbs. Tonight it says 171.5 lbs. I’m not upset about it but I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve been planning and thinking about doing things differently, but I haven’t actually done anything differently so far that I think would cause me to lose almost 9lbs in less than 2 weeks. I’ve done a couple of small (VERY small!) things, but that’s it, despite my intentions. My biggest concern weight wise is my big belly. That’s very new, and from what I’ve read, bad news. From what I can remember reading, it can be a visual reminder of the effects of constant stress (my words and simplification) it can mean I’m possibly headed toward insulin resistance, and a sign that there’s fatty tissue around some of my organs. I don’t like the way it looks and I don’t like what it can mean for my overall health. I’ve been so slim most of my life that I don’t really mind the weight gain except for the big belly and getting tired of replacing my clothes and underwear as I keep growing. For whatever reason, I’ve always and still do look like I weigh less than I do. When I finally got up to 130lbs, my coworkers insisted I couldn’t weigh much more than 100lbs. One coworker was so insistent that I got on a scale to prove I wasn’t lying and he decided I “must have heavy bones”. Some of the ones that say something about how I’ve been gaining weight think I weigh about 150 now. It’s even noticeable in my face, my high cheekbones have disappeared. I don’t like that either, that was one of my favorite facial features. Anyway, I’m still trying to get it together on this healthier living thing.

@pinkcshmere, getting older is so much fun! I gained a good 20lbs back in 2016, putting me over 200lbs for the first time ever that didn't involve a pregnancy. It crept up while I was in school Jan 2017 to May 2019 and then hit a new high this summer. Thank you, COVID. My high in Sept was 224lbs. And, yeah, while I've gained all over, it was the belly that is really the biggest hurdle. I look pregnant and it's infuriating. Haven't worn but maybe two of my dresses this past year. Too much belly.
So, the goal is to increase muscle--been working on this since Sept when I saw what my weight was back then--while refining my eating. I still eat some good ice cream and Reese's PB cups but I cut out all the grain foods that were causing so much internal inflammation. My stomach is slowly going down. But, best of all, I have increased flexibility and more strength. The last I checked, at the end of Dec, my weight is down a net of six pounds since Sept but, again, I've been increasing my strength. The inches will decrease eventually.

I hate the way my face looks when I get past a certain weight.

Weekly check in
Hit step goal. Did okay on water goal. Only 2 days with eating after 9:00 PM I think. I know there was 1. I know I stopped myself a couple of days. Need to work on cutting carbs. 15 minutes of strength training or yoga. Weight moved in the correct direction.
Work stress is out of control. Goals for the week include 95000 steps. Keep up with water intake No eating after 9:00 PM. 30 minutes of strength training or yoga.
01/01/19 177.2 01/01/20 165.2 01/01/21 169.0 01/04/21 167.8 01/11/21 168.0 01/18/21 168.6 01/25/21 167.4
Have a good week everyone.

Day 20: Weight up, been balancing healthy eating with a little nibble of this or that. Back to clean eating. Three servings different vegetables yesterday, planning on 3 again today.

I've been holding at 223 lbs for a few days. I've been eating right. I'll just stay the course and hope for the best.

After 3 weeks of keeping my daily calories between 1000-1100 I've lost exactly 0.5 pounds. If that's not depressing I don't know what is. Counting calories just doesn't seem to work for me, so it's back to low carb. I want to lose at least 6 pounds, preferably 8. I'm setting my first mini-goal at losing 3. Today was my prep day, so I'll start tomorrow. My steps have been good, didn't do one single arm exercise, and I already covered the (lack of) weight loss, so that was my week.
This week:
Seriously, do some dang push-ups, drag out my weights, something, anything, but get on the arm workouts! Keep my daily carbs under 25g Average 16,500 steps a day

Sometimes, if you're not losing, it's because you're not eating enough. Either not enough food, overall, or not enough fats. I know it sounds counterproductive but it's a common thing.
There's also the possibility of already being at your "set" weight and any attempts at weight loss will result in not only not losing but possibly gaining. Our bodies are such weird machines.

Day 21: Stretched, yoga, and crunches before online class this morning. Am currently eating a WFH salad consisting of 5 different fruits and vegetables. Tonight's supper will include an additional three. I've upped my produce game. ETA: I also had celery for lunch, bringing today's produce intake to 9.

I made it down to 14 lbs lost this morning! If I can lose 15 lbs a month I'll be the happiest person around!
