My BF got me a nutribullet for Xmas. I've used it only twice, so far, but I can see it being very useful for using up those last bits of fruits and veggies that are smoothie material and as a way to get more of them into my eating habits. Though, last night, I made kale chips drizzled in olive oil and cooked until nearly crispy. SOOOO good!
The main reason he got it for me was that I wanted something that will puree raw potatoes easily. By adding raw potatoes, I get more good stuff for the workings of my gut. It's something I read in Undoctored by Dr. William Davis, the author who also wrote Wheat Belly.

Day 8: Home late again from the office last night, and slept in today, so no time for stretching/cardio. 5 servings of fruits and veggies yesterday.

Well, sitting here feeling a bit dejected . . . I had FINALLY decided to order Nordictrack freestride elliptical today -- it sometimes take me forever to make decisions, but, I am finally ready. I will be putting it in our basement, and we have done a lot of work down there to make it a usable space. In the online chat, I was just double checking some specs before finalizing my order -- I was told by an agent several months ago that I needed 15" of ceiling clearance. This agent came back to say I need to add 22 inches, not 15 inches to my height to have adequate clearance. Knee Deep in Water Chloe -- I think you mentioned needing a higher ceiling -- do you know which number is correct?

we got in an hour in the bogs this afternoon, yay. Wednesdays are usually junk for me due to nonstop calls all day, but one got cancelled. vonna, your post is worrying me now about possibly buying my own elliptical. I forgot how tall you end up when you're on it. the space I would put it has a drop ceiling. I will definitely take note of the height requirements now. thanks for that.

Is anyone here doing intermittent fasting? If so, how is it going? I just started Sunday, using 14/10. I have 10 lbs I want to lose, due to holidays, stay at home routine.

Happy prose, I am, but not on purpose, LOL. Part of my weight loss success has been waiting until I'm really hungry, as in, my stomach is growling. So, that means I don't usually eat until noon or later. This equals to at least 15+ hours of going without eating. 17 pounds off since last March.

Iggy aka IG Wow, that's great! I hope I'm successful. The fasting part is pretty easy for me. I just hope I'm not cramming the same amount of calories into a shortened day.

Happy prose, thank you, and you got this! Regarding calories, I make sure I have healthy choices on hand for lunch, and have a healthy, veggie filled supper planned. It doesn't always work that way, but you know... Day 9: Again no time for stretching/cardio. Just one vegetable serving. Hmmm... Not good.

I've met and exceeded my step goals the past four days and am getting better with my water intake. I'm not quite to 10 cups/day consistently but I do get in at least seven cups/day.

I will ask my husband tomorrow--he's asleep now; I think we built 9-foot ceilings for the gym room. We thought the normal height of our normal rooms wasn't quite high enough. HOWEVER--I'm 5'4", and I think the regular height/regular room would have been fine for someone of my height. I'm the shortest of anyone who would have used it though.

Thanks Knee Deep in Water ChloeI know you have a lot on your plate right now. I was all set with 15 inches of clearance needed. I am 5'4 as well, but this if for ME. My daughter will also be able to use it if I can indeed make it work in the basement. I will try again with customer service as well. Online, several unofficial nordictrack boards are also using the 15 inch number as distance needed between height of individual and ceiling. Uggh.... I really want this to work..... 15 inches of clearance is fine, 22 is not

I think the height requirements are going to rule out an elliptical for me, boo. I clicked on a link for "10 best affordable exercise bikes in 2021" and am checking those out this morning. do any of you have a home cycle that isn't a Peloton? I don't want something that requires a subscription or anything. a couple on this link look promising, but personal recommendations are always helpful.

andi9899 got a bike from Academy maybe? We picked the spot for the treadmill based on the most ceiling clearance. The basement is blah but I think it would be super noisy up in a bedroom. Our floors squeak with just a person walking. Plus I'm finally giving up on both spare rooms being bedrooms and making one my office/craft room.

vonna , he says we went to 8.5’ ceilings.
Are you sure you’re reading about ceiling height though? The front and back of it need clearance too.

I didn't include the link, sorry for confusion. thanks, I'll look at that one. I don't think I want recumbent, but that's a well-known name.

Me but I feel like a bit of a fraud. I haven't eaten during the day for years. Anyway, we do an 18/6 window. The way I understand it, the body only starts using fat after 12 hours so the longer you go the more it burns. As long as I watch my calories it works really well for me. ISO throws in 42 hours fasts and gets really great results. I'm not there yet.

Day 10: Happy Friday, everyone! Weight up a bit due to late night snacking last night. 3 vegetable servings yesterday. This weekend I have several social engagements, and I'll research what food choices there will be ahead of time.

I want to join you all on this journey to a healthier lifestyle. I’m trying to come up with a plan for healthier eating and exercising and I’m having trouble. I can’t remember exactly what I did a few years ago, except for smoothies and breakfast. I can’t find the body weight workout routines I used before. I wish I could remember or find all that stuff, because I was happy with the results back then. It’s too cold for me to just hop on my bicycle and count that as exercise until I figure things out. I am especially overwhelmed with trying to figure out what to eat. My go to foods aren’t conducive to losing weight, and now I actually need to focus on weight. Before, I was just trying to live a healthier lifestyle, not so much concerned with weight. But I weigh a lot more now than I did then. I signed up for Noom, but I’m confused by it too. Sheesh. I’m starting to wonder if something’s wrong with my brain these days. Anyway gs11rmb do you have any insight you care to share about using Noom? I do much better with a plan, and idk why I’m having so much trouble trying to come up with one. That’s why I signed up for Noom, for some guidance, but I can’t figure that out either.

Knee Deep in Water Chloe Thank you! I have plenty of floorspace in the basement, but it is a drop ceiling, so a bit lower than the norm. I had an old nordictrack elliptical eons ago that I got rid of, and even though I had to step up to get on it, I had plenty of room between the top of my head and the ceiling. So, according to the link below, I just need the ceiling to be 15 inches above my head. This number was confirmed in a phone call with customer service. Then, when I was about to place my order, I just wanted to reconfirm that 15 inches was enough. That customer service agent told me I need 22 inches. I have also sent an email, I hope to get clarification. There is 18 inches between the top of my head and the ceiling of the basement. www.nordictrackellipticalblog.com/nordictrack-freestride-trainer-ceiling-height/#:~:text=This%20is%20straight%20from%20the,bump%20up%20against%20the%20ceiling.

I do quite like Noom but I've definitely been backsliding since Christmas. Weighing myself daily and tracking what I eat has been helpful. To be frank, I didn't realize that I was over-eating and it's helped me to curb that habit. I have definitely plateaued and want to start reading the articles again to see if that helps me. I'm pretty sure I won't renew the subscription at the end of four months but will use the free app. I do feel like the money was worth it though, definitely don't regret the purchase.

I think I'm ready to start setting my health goals. The days have just flown by can't beleive January is half over! The ongoing pandemic and political dangers have wieghed heavily on me so far this year. I need to distance myself a little from the constant new cycles.....
Starting out a little low key, I will take time to ramp up a little bit through the first 1/4 - 1/2 of the year.
Nutrition 4 cups greens - daily 4 cups sprouts - daily 8 glasses water - daily 1 serving blueberries - daily vitamins 4-5 times/week
Fitness 3 buckets, MNN, minimum 4 times per week each, mix and match, something everyday yoga (initial goal 10 mins) walking or jogging (initial 2 miles) strength training (initial 10 minutes)
Mental Health meditation - daily sleep hygiene no screens 2 hours before bed establish predictable and leaisurely pre-bed routine in bed by 10 for reading/lights out by 11
I think this is a good-enough place to start for goals

So far, I haven't been doing very well on this. While I haven't articulated, I knew the direction I was going for goals. Nutrition4 cups greens - daily - I am doing best with my greens - probably getting abotu 2 cups in on average, but do want to kick it up4 cups sprouts - daily - Haven't even tried to sprout anything in many months, so will need to ramp that production up.8 glasses water - daily - have done poorly at this, but have had a lot of teas and soups contributing to hydration, sitll needs work1 serving blueberries - daily - can't remember the last time I had any! everyone else is eating them and then they gone!vitamins 4-5 times/week - I think I am compliant this week, previously went a few weeks withoutFitness

For anyone that’s like me and struggling with what to do, Nike has an app called Nike Training Center. I’ve been poking around in it and I’m impressed. They suggest workouts for your fitness level, have a bunch of others to choose from, whether you want to use no or minimal equipment or a full gym. It has different “programs” you can use that last several weeks. It also has nutrition tips and tips to help you with your mindset to increase chances for success and other tips. It also has yoga videos and programs. Best of all, it’s all FREE! I “think” when you do a program, you get alerts and it tracks your progress. Rukh O'Rorke, do you think something like that might help you a bit? I don’t feel well right now, so I’m just gathering information and planning so I’ll be ready when I do feel better. See you all back here in a few days!

See you all back here in a few days! Thanks Pink! I am trying to do the no-tech approach with my planner, but I'll check this Nike one out. I bought a "life planner" from erin condren, and a set of colored markers, and some extra insert stuff that needs dry erase, and I dont' have any dry erase right now. I haven't touched it since new years. Getting back into it today. One thing I did is putting little slash marks at the bottom of the day. light blue per glass water, light green per cup of greens. trying to make things very tactile. Took a break while writing this post to put some doodles into the planner with my marker set . I just have 12 colors, one is black so not too fancy. Will try to do one little doodle per day to represent the days activities.

Just finished up 3.3 miles of trekking around Fort Harrison State Park. Put my steps at nearly 11,000 for the day. I'm sure I'll exceed that since I'll still be up and around for another 4-6 hours. Made my water goal, too. I count the smoothies towards them since they're mainly water fruits and veggies.
