Day two: Down 2 pounds so far this year. No exercise today. I had a healthy supper last night consisting of flounder and shrimp, and a total of 3 different vegetables yesterday. And does lime juice in last night's cocktail count as a fruit? Asking for a friend, lol.

Oooh...I'm in! I started going to the Y and meeting with a personal trainer back in September. I think it was the beginning of November that I finally quit kidding myself about what foods I'm allergic to and stopped eating them. So, I haven't knowingly had any grain- or rice-based foods in two months.
I just got a Garmin Venu and am excited to see all the little numbers that it tells me, especially step count. Today, there has been few steps but it's been an "off/wonky" day in general--only 702 steps during my various trips to the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. Didn't make it to work at all.
I'm trying to up my water intake and reduce my screen time. I turn my computer off and put my phone in the kitchen at 9pm. Sometimes I successfully leave it there overnight. lol.
So my initial goals are to meet the default goals set by the Venu and to drink more water.

Day 3 (I probably won't post on weekends): Weight up a bit, as among late night snacking, I had a few wheat crackers last night. As nidena says, I have wheat and other food sensitivities. Four servings of vegetables yesterday, and four planned for today. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Nothing like being in bed for most of three days due to a migraine for my Garmin to say "Hmmm...we're gonna reduce your step goals a couple thousand steps". lol My initial default goal was 7,500 steps. Today, I see it's been reduced to 6,270. I'm sure it'll be even less tomorrow since my step count is 336 so far today. Does it count tossing and turning in your sleep as steps?

I'm down 5.5 lbs since Jan 1. For me that is amazing! I keep threatening to do 5 mins on my exercise bike a day. I haven't done that yet.

I changed my goal on my tracking sheet to 7500 steps. I didn't change it on my fitbit though. It's winter, it's cold and I hate being cold. It does require me to actually try though. I also have one lap around the neighborhood on my sheet.

So I'm starting to get my portions down to recommended portion sizes. This is big for me. This should help with the weight loss.

I'm back in for another year. I finally braved stepping on the scale a few days ago, and holy cow! I knew I was up a few pounds but wasn't expecting to be up 8. Okay, actually 9. So it's time to get serious. I've upped my steps the last few days to try to get closer to what I was normally doing pre-pandemic. That should help a bit. Today I started logging my food. It sucks. I'm hungry and sad lol. I thought about doing low carb again, which has always worked well, but I just can't bring myself to do it. So low calorie it is.
Overall goals:
Before swimsuit season, lose at least 7 of the pounds I've gained. I'm willing to be a couple pounds heavier than pre-Covid because pandemic/age/etc. but only a couple. Start hiking regularly again. I used to hike a few days a week, and now it's closer to once a month and my leg muscles show it. Get my arms toned back up. Like everything else, I've completely slacked off on that.
This week:
At least 16,000 steps a day Stay below 1300 calories a day Arm workout at least 4 days - I need to find some videos or develop a plan for this
gs11rmb how do you like Noom? I've thought about trying it, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

So I'm starting to get my portions down to recommended portion sizes. This is big for me. This should help with the weight loss. About five years ago, I figured out that I had no concept of portion sizes nor stopping eating when I felt full. This has definitely been an eye-opener and a helpful portion of my process.

+ andi9899 (I don't know why I didn't think of that when you mentioned the Peloton app.) Since the pandemic started, I've been using Kayla Istines' Sweat app. link to website, but you can find the app on your phone too. It kicks my ass and arms and is fantastic.

I'm trying to decide if I like the Sweat app or not. I didn't use it as much as I should have during my trial. I signed up for the January challenge.

My goal is to lose 20 lbs.
Week 1: 1/4/21 - 140.0 Week 2: 1/11/21 - 138.6
I'm surprised it's down that much overall because on Saturday I decided to eat an entire round of brie with a baguette for dinner. Tasty but not wise...

Looking good, everyone! Day 6. Weight down 3.8 lbs since January 1st. Did okay over the weekend as far as intake. Veggies included sliced cucumber for night snacking, and yellow squash and zucchini in Friday night's chicken stir fry. Did some walking on our property, and the usual stairs for laundry. Did no stretching or treadmill, however. Just submitted a large Walmart pickup order which includes fresh and frozen veggies, and a selection of different proteins.

All the usual stuff--drink more water/less alcohol and caffeine. Eat more veggies and fruit (I eat pretty much no fruit now, besides tomatoes, I guess). Exercise more. Been doing none lately. I can just feel myself flabbing out. I would love to lose weight--at least 15 pounds. I think if I do the above, I will lose at least some. When I completely overhauled my diet in November 2019, the vegetables were a huge part of it. I switched to eating at least three cups of green vegetables each day. It's insane how much that actually is and how full it actually made me feel. But, combining that with reducing carbs, my constant heartburn went away. interesting. I've been having pretty consistent heartburn lately as well. I may try this.. thanks! I'm setting a goal of losing the 10lbs I packed on after moving into my new home. I'd like to lose more, but I'll start with that. I'm working on cleaning up my diet, trying not to even keep junk food in the house anymore. I have also discovered a beautiful place to go walk my pups, literally 2min from my house (no sidewalks on my curvy street, I'm driving wherever we will walk) - some old cranberry bogs that are no longer producing. there are trails around and throughout the bogs, and very minimal interaction with other people. bonus! yesterday, we spent over an hour walking all over the place. today, about 45min b/c I couldn't feel my fingers. I think that as long as it is a dry day, I want to get out there for at least the 45min loop we did today. rainy days will turn the paths into mud pits. we can go to the Canal for those days.

Between DH and me, I used to buy Tums Smoothies consistently. Now, he reports he no longer needs them, and I need one maybe, what, once a month? (Only when I sometimes eat off plan as it is football season.)

Garmin put me at a step goal of 4580 today. Went to work and there's lots of walking around there. I'm currently at just over 5100. I'm hoping my sleep is better tonight. I spent the evening with the boyfriend on Saturday, binge-watching the entire season 3 of Cobra Kai, and didn't get to sleep until 2am Saturday. Last night was midnight. I'm aiming for earlier tonight.

According to the scale this morning I've lost 7.8 lbs since Jan 1. For me that is really fast weight loss.

Checking in! I ended up hitting my step goal either by walking on the treadmill or dragging the family out for a walk every day but Friday last week, so I’m counting that as a win! And Friday I was just tired and done from a crazy week at work, so I couldn’t motivate myself.
Weekend was okay - time spent outside with the kids to no actual workout, but kept busy with lots of steps chasing them around at the park one day and on a walk while the little rode her a otter the other day.
I’m traveling today/tomorrow, but having to walk around a small warehouse site, so did okay with steps today and hopefully the same tomorrow.

I also still need to get some weights - must add a trip to the sporting goods store to my to-do list this week.

Sigh. Gave into the carb binging tonight. Not a bad day, just a lot to do. Got frustrated at the end.

Folx, please don't beat yourselves up because you ate something you're trying to avoid. It's one thing if you're allergic--even then your body will beat up itself for you--it's another if you just got to the end of the day and needed something quick or easy. That's okay. You got this!
I met my water goal yesterday, too, so I'm glad for that.

All of my goals were met last week. I even met the stretch step goal I had in my head. We have finally agreed on a location for the treadmill. We need to get some more cleaning and sorting done in the basement. And save up for it of course.

tcu2003, I own 3, 5, and 10 pound hand weights and absolutely love them. Day 7. I got home late last night, and didn't wake up early today, so no stretching/cardio. Same pattern, different week! I had a late, light supper last night consisting of asparagus and cream cheese, wrapped in low sodium turkey slices with a side of almonds.

Good Morning Kids! It turns out, I did 2 things right when I bought this scale. It measures in 1/10's of pounds, which is a lot more motivating to me personally when it comes to losing weight. The second thing done right is keeping the scale in the kitchen. It really is a good reminder of what I'm attempting to do. I'm already down 4-5 pounds. But, I'm realistic, and know it won't continue to come off "easy". The only person I know who loses weight fairly easily is DH.
