Of course not. How would I see something that doesn't exist? I don't think he will be charged based on lack of evidence or if charged would not be convicted. Pure conjecture on my part. that is maybe the Trumpiest thing you have ever said on this board, bills. take it back. please.

ok. so we now OFFICIALLY have a seditious conspiracy against the US. how does that impact the Trump investigation? any thoughts? At the very beginning, when J6 participants were being picked off with misdemeanors and called community service pleas, we had a board member who kept insisting this wasn’t seditious because no one had been charged with sedition yet. Several other board members stated the government would start with the small fry and work their way to the big fish by getting the smaller fish to turn on them to avoid longer jail terms. Well we’re up to the sharks now, and actual charges of sedition. The killer whales like Stone and Bannon will be next, and then we’ll have to see if they go after the whale. I kind of doubt they will. It’s never happened before, and Nixon, for one, should have been charged, if not for the monkey wrenching, then for all the ‘gifts’ he accepted to grease the wheels of government. I suspect if we get to that point, he’ll get pardoned. Nixon would have been charged, and probably convicted. but he was pardoned first. Biden sure as hell is not going to pardon Trump. though there will certainly be pressure to do so.

If Biden thought he could defang a rabid MAGA assault against government buildings and could get Trump to agree to never run for any offense again I think he might.

I’m curious to see what the oath keepers have. If one of them is disgruntled enough to turn on Trump, and he has some hard evidence to back his claim, it could be interesting.

Many things have happened the last 6 years that I never would have imagined. I don’t thing that is a very strong argument. There seems to be no bottom to trumps behavior

I actually think he’s more likely to get convicted on an obstruction charge, based on the news that the archive is still missing documents and the FBI is interviewing Trump associates about the possibility that he might still have more documents at Mar a Lago and Trump Tower. Plus we find out that he may have deliberately kept sensitive documents to have something to negotiate with the Archives with - he considered trading sensitive documents the Archive wanted for sensitive documents that he believed would prove the Russia Russia Russia investigation was a hoax. www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-doj-documents/If he’s still hoarding documents back, even now, then I don’t know how they could avoid charging him with obstruction.

"You know the biggest crowd I've ever seen? January 6th," he said. "And you never hear that. It was the biggest. And they were there largely to protest a corrupt and rigged and stolen election. "It was the biggest crowd and you never hear that and you see very few pictures of it... that was the biggest crowd, I believe, I've ever spoken to." www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-praised-january-6-biggest-crowd-nevada-rally-1750159Translation later in the link: Brian Klaas, an associate professor of global politics at University College London, wrote: "'I don't get enough credit for the crowd size in the insurrection I incited' is the outgrowth of a deranged, narcissistic, authoritarian mind. He may be out of formal power, but Trump is still incredibly dangerous for American democracy."

I expect some version of this happening given US history. As a nation though we need to build ourselves up and not allow whoever gets voted in the top chair, get away with criminal behavior simply because they got elected into the top chair. Illinois had a string of bad governors but managed to prosecute them and jail them. Federally we should do no less, but there is resistance because too many think American exceptionalism means we are that good instead of some choose to be blind to America's weaknesses for bragging rights.

I admit that I am not familiar with the Illinois governors. Did any of them have the fanatical following that had the potential to rip the state apart? I don't see the concept of American exceptionalism coming into play here.

Prosecutional discretion takes place throughout the country every day. That's true. But trump is under multiple investigations in multiple states for which others have been convicted. Should trump get prosecutorial discretion on all of them?

Should trump get prosecutorial discretion on all of them? I think on criminal charges stemming from his presidency duties, yes. Civil cases based on his business activities, no.

If trump would keep his fingers off a keyboard and his friggin' mouth shut and disappear for the rest of his life if he is not prosecuted I would agree with you. He should consider himself very lucky. But the man just can't help himself.

I think not prosecuting is the best way to advance the health of the Republic. well, that certainly goes hand-in-hand with your notion that he should be allowed to run for president again. i give you points for consistency. i think there is a grave risk in subjecting the republic to another test, bills. in 2015, i would have been up to the proposition. but given what happened in 2016, and what happened in 2021, and what is likely to happen this year, i am not. why are you?
