Thanks for all the well wishes, appreciate it. Went back to work just in time for the other co manager to declare he finally shook off whatever was wrong with him all week and he hopes it was not Covid (did not take time off or get tested).
Had a discussion with my brother, not an argument because it is my house, that he was not allowed back till his 14 days were up + negative Covid test because he is trying to come back Monday saying the Dr there said 10 days were enough (dr and nurse at the hotel, they took all his vitals today and said he was good).
Good for him but he is not coming to my house on Monday; same way I told the nurse on Friday when he was being discharged that my house was not the end location to make arrangements to take him to the hotel. He is trying to convince me he is good and can return on Monday -> NOT going to happen.
On top of that let’s not forget we are still pissed at you for coming to the house while knowing full well you were sick. Yes in your defense you did not know it was COVID but you were still sick, I have a 3 year old and a 72 year old sharing common space with you. So Friday it is and it is not going g to change.
In other news a older friend of my cousin (no relations to my brother) passed away today after finding out he was positive for Covid 3 days ago. My mom said he had other medical issues and Covid was the extra push over the edge, he was 40.
In just reminded my older brother that is 40 and posted himself on Facebook live at an event full of people indoor, no mask... that his brother was just released from the hospital yesterday after spending a week there battling Covid so be careful.
But off course everyone believes they are invincible till it happens to them. Also came back to find out one of our sister stores had 7 cases in 1 week, basically the whole department.
Going to be a long dark winter... tomorrow I increase my exercise regiment and get my diet back on check; reminder our health is all we have; and just 1 life to live.

And this post is why as far as we are concerned. Stand up for yourself and your family, even if it is in defiance of family. Just because he is your brother, he does not get a pass to endanger you. You did everything right. He didn't. Hang up on any begging, crying, pleading relatives who think you should take him back into your house before YOU decide it's time. Your house, your rules, so there. You cannot afford to be sick, and neither can the other people in your house. Stand your ground and don't be moved by anyone.

YEA !!!!!!!!!! Carl ..... I'll second the . . Your home, and you need to keep you and family safe. and get my diet back on checkCut way down on sodium. I know I sound like a broken record but it's true. Not a diet but a lifestyle change. Become a label reader and keep your sodium to 1500mg MAX per day. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Corn tortillas have about 5 mg/piece, flour has 250 mg per. Dark chocolate has zero, milk chocolate has a lot. Oatmeal and shredded wheat cereal has zero, and all other cereals have a lot. Stay away from canned foods. Use frozen veggies. Check different brands of something you want and get the one with the smallest amount of sodium. Both your heart and body will thank you. Do a web search for low sodium foods. It will shock you. Glad your brother is doing better ........

For you and your family, you standing your ground is a blessing. I'm not too pleased with your brother living off of you.
This probably isn't the place to bring this up but, will those of us who do not catch covid or are late adopters of the vaccine be discriminated against. My GrD1 who is a nurse and watched all the pandemic movies said in one, they issued arm bands to those who were vaccinated. My DD has looked into the vaccine and said the side effects are 7 days of covid symptoms but not the lung issues. And the second shot is similar side effect. Those side effect days are isolate at home days.

I think I jinxed myself... if it isn’t my brother it is someone else.
The other co-manager that I posted have not been feeling well just called me to ask where I got tested for Covid, he was trying to go as soon as he left work or I got in. I said I went to my Dr the second time and the first time I just googled the places nearby me that did not require an appointment.
I asked why? So he said he has not been feeling well since the 24th but thought it was just a bug he could shake off and what not. But last night he lost since of taste and smell (yet still showed up to work this morning... we need to stop that in Retail. Not the first person doing it and not the last... the pressure of the job and the guilt of knowing someone else will have to be called in to do our job or cover our shift push us to do it).
I told him dude you got it but send me your city and I looked it up. I just texted him back 2 clinics by him that do not require appointments and that I am on my way in. He said he has quarantined himself into the managers office all day (that is one place I will avoid for at least an hour when I get to work and disinfect like crazy with bleach and Lysol’s afterwards) and has been staying away from everyone.
I have been working since Friday and I have worked the past 2 days with him since the store manager has taken off since I got back. My wife heard the conversation on speaker and just yelled: YOU GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME?
I am feeling fine, no issues. Do I get tested again? I am scheduled at work in 20 minutes and poor guy is trying to leave and go get tested. He has a wife at home and 2 kids, youngest my daughters age. I don’t think he has been quarantined himself like I have since March.
Covid truly sucks! My grocery manager was right, she told on Friday night: hey X looked liked shit this morning, did he look better when you came in? I really did not pay attention and did not notice besides him saying he finally shook off what he had going on with him the past 3 days. Now I am thinking wasn’t the manager trying to give me a heads up?
Also the other co has worked everyday this week except for Thanksgiving. Who else at the store? But we do wear mask at the store but not always when away from the sales floor and using the receiving area, break room, department managers office or managers office.

I have less than zero belief we will have a reasonable percentage of our population vaccinated by the end of next year. The fact that the "news" touts this miracle cure of a vaccine coming next week is only going to make things worse, IMHO.

I know there are a lot of people gleefully infecting people with covid. These are the people at work that try to give you an illness before vacation time.
One government employer was paid to spread winter colds to determine what treatment would work. I was very wary. One coworker had something for 2 months and couldn't get over it. With no energy to clean, I told him to spray his entire apartment with Lysol and get a new toothbrush and toothpaste. He finally started to recover. It was him who said he smelled fresh cut grass in the office. It was aerosoled in that fragrance. Go a year down the road. The same infecter was in inspecting carpet seams. Same thing as year before.
I sprayed that office until we couldn't breath. That is when I was told they were paid. Being employed by the government opens a person up to all kinds of studies that a person would be unaware of. The same with those medical studies. My late Dad warned me not to go for them.

Just got done spraying down the managers office with Lysol including department managers office. Keeping the door open to air it out, but wipe down everything.
Sent him home as soon as I got here, he said he called one of the clinics they were fully booked but they told him he could come in but would take 2-3 hours before he is seen...
Also seems my customer service manager was sent home also because she was not feeling well and coughing all over the place. Great, now I want to disinfect the whole damn building!

Do you have any kind of link to that? I can't find anything online.

Just another urban legend. That kind of study would be completely unethical. But people believe what they want to believe. Just like what was posted about vaccine side effects

Do you have any kind of link to that? I can't find anything online. You won’t. Because it’s a story someone made up and people spread crap like this. Any sort of research study where one is given a cold and they look for valid treatments requires informed consent. Doing something like this as an employee is the fastest way of getting your ass fired and getting yourself blacklisted from receiving any sort of research grants. And reputable scientist would avoid being associated with this like the plague.

Carl, I know you are doing the best to take care of your family. I worry for you since the death rate among blacks is so much higher than the rest of the population. I know that is in part because health care is less sufficient for many minorities, but there also seems to be something in the DNA that make you more vulnerable to the virus. Praying for you and your family.

Take care of yourself Carl. It is scary out there that is for sure. We are back into staying home as much as we can the next 2 weeks. I think covid cases will go nuts after Thanksgiving. I do not envy you all working in retail. Only so many precautions you can take. My thoughts are with you and yours.

Thank you everyone... my brother kept calling me since 11 thinking he could pressure me into coming to my house. Not going to happen, 14 days and negative Covid test. So he called me around 2 to say our cousin in Navy Yard was going to let him stay with her...good for him then!
My cousin-worker texted me back at 11 PM last night, he could not get tested because they were fully booked but made an appointment for this morning. He still could not taste or smell. I am at work now and our boss have yet to mention him calling out or change in our schedules (my vacation start Thursday).
Another day....

Guess he finally told our boss, he was cleaning the office like crazy; told him I already did that yesterday.
He asked me to work tomorrow (I was off) and Wednesday. He called the District manager to send him someone because I am supposed to start vacation on Thursday.
So 2 more days!

One interesting twist in the discussions on prioritizing vaccinations is the idea of those over 75 getting their shots before the 65-75 age group. That would mean DH would get his before me, which still reduces my potential exposure. Besides, we won't get them at the same time anyway, as one of us has to be reaction-free to take care of things if the other one has a bad reaction.

Don't we still need a significant number of our population to get vaccinated? I don't think it's as simple as get the shots and now you are good. They aren't 100% effective. Without some sort of herd immunity you are still at risk, I believe.

I don't know if I even CAN do any of these vaccines, even if I wanted to. so I care about how many people get vaccinated.

I am not going to be the first to get it. After workers and nursing homes are done I will get a couple.

You cannot get sick from any of the vaccines. Not possible. So it makes no sense to not take one. Given how widespread the infection is, if you leave the house, you have a chance to bring it home. That is our current reality.
Theoretically, the mRNA vaccines should be less likely to cause an allergic reaction
