I saw on FB this morning that an ambulance company where I used to live has now installed UV lighting in their ambulance to kill COVID since the president's rally. Sheep to the slaughter... Holy crap! What's next? Tanning beds in ICU?

The really ironic thing was right before I heard Trump's announcement I had to read an SDS about hand sanitizer at work. It does say don't ingest but nothing about shooting it into your veins. They must have assumed that was a given. They might want to send out a new SOP regarding use after last night. ..

Holy crap! What's next? Tanning beds in ICU? Trump suggested something to pass the light beams through you... I swear, even Star Trek writers don't come up with this stupid shit.

Lysol was originally marketed as a female douche product in the 1920's. HUGE lawsuit because obviously it did some major damage. They were on the verge of bankruptcy when they decided to rebrand as a household cleaning product. I can imagine the conversation at headquarters when Trump made his suggestion.

Columbia university has been experimenting with certain UV wavelengths that do kill the Coronavirus, airborne and on surfaces.
This is nothing new for killing a virus.
It works for the flu, a virus.

Are they using it on surfaces? UV light is a long accepted method of sterilization for surfaces. The subtlety that is escaping far too many people is that UV light and disinfectants work only on external virus. Once the virus has successfully infected your cells the only way these methods will work is by killing the cells, i.e. parts of your body. I‘d like to snark about natural selection and Trump killing off his supporters but this is just too sad. People shouldn’t die unnecessarily for trusting their president.

That will show those elitist intellectual liberals. Not only did you prevent yourself from getting Corona but now you won't get infected by ANYTHING cause there are no live cells left to infect.

I am entertained by rationalizations, particularly when they are supplied by someone who shows creativity in their efforts.

The local hospital uses UV lights to disinfect rooms, so if they are using it to disinfect the ambulance after each trip, I think that's probably good. But to use when they are traveling, no. ETA: The UV light is used after the patient is discharged, not while they are in there.

Okay, so he has these crazy ideas pop into his head. I have crazy ideas pop into my head. In work sessions, I will at times tell my staff, "I am going to say this out loud to see how it sounds." Sometimes it sounds good and we go with it. Someone I immediately reject it. Sometimes they explain to me why it is a bad idea. But I do it in closed sessions. My problem with President Trump is that he tosses out crazy ideas in national briefing sessions. @x tells me not worry about what Trump says but to focus on what he does. I think this situation is a perfect example of why we need to be concerned with what is said because this one could lead to people dying. Good, if you're stupid enough to do it based off someone saying we should "look into" something...you're enough of a danger to society that we'd all benefit from them being gone.

I would agree if it was, "I read it on Facebook." What I see as significant is that it wasn't simply "someone", but the President of the United States of America who said it. I think the person holding that office has a responsibility to restrain from throwing something like that out there.

We should be looking into pretty much anything and everything though. Anyone who interprets "we should look into something" as "ya know, I should just do it myself" is a special kind of dumb. We should look into flying cars. Anyone who drives their car off a cliff to try to make it fly seems like a danger though.

I agree that anyone who acts on what the President of the United States said is a special kind of dumb. There are American citizens who are a special kind of dumb. I think that their President has a responsibility to take that into account when choosing to voice something at a national briefing. As I said before, I have no problem with him ordering those who work for him to look into it. I have a problem with the time and place he did it.

So there are actual light activated cancer therapies in clinical trial phase right now. You get an injection of light sensitive therapy chemical, then use light to activate the chemical at the site of the tumor.

If she wants me to listen to her, she should have jumped up and said absolutely do not do this. She has turned in to being/doing whatever he wants. Let them drink bleach.

The wife and I have been binge watching The Good Doctor. If you haven't seen it, it is about a young doctor with autism. A continuing part of the show is people working with him to develop a better sense of which thoughts that come into his brain he should and shouldn't voice in front of patients. Due to him being on the spectrum, he needs remedial training for something which most of us have developed on our own. Most of us.

I am not sure what you want her to do? He fires those who openly disagree with him. Jumping up and disagreeing with him would almost certainly cause that. Di you want one of his toadies in her position? How about that long haired dude that a few years ago said tRump was a perfect specimen? I imagine she and Fauci have become adept at diverting him, but I saw enough of this press conference to see that he was basing his thoughts on a slide show given by some guy who spoke before him.

The number of Trump defenders posting on articles about this are considerably lower than on just about everything else he has ever said. Your argument that the media twists his words can only go so far when the video and transcript are posted. for some reason, i get Washington Times articles pop up on my work computer. This morning, the spin was that his comments were taken out of context. I just saw something saying - he was being sarcastic
