It's a nasty drug even for those who need to take it. They put my co-worker on it as a propholactic for her lupus even though the drug she uses to manage it is not one they were hoarding for corona. She almost had a heart attack on it. She told them she will take her chances with the lupus if it comes to that. She likes breathing and having functional kidneys more.
They had no business using it as a treatment without verifying it's efficacy and safety in non-lupus patients first. I get that time is of the essence but we shouldn't be stupid about it.

I saw China had two trials going with that drug and discontinued them. It didn't improve outcomes. Now granted I don't trust a whole lot of information coming out of China. It doesn't seem to be the miracle drug like Trump claims and it's got serious side effects that could kill you.

I was talking with my mom (on Mother's day)on the phone. She said she won't be getting any vaccine, because Bill Gates is putting microchips in it, to track us. Mom is not an anti-vaxxer, we were all fully vaccinated as kids. She doesn't watch Fox news, is not on Facebook (doesn't use computers). I have no idea where she got this idea from. please ask her, and report back.
thanks.

Drug promoted by Trump as coronavirus ‘game changer’ increasingly linked to deathsFor two months, President Trump repeatedly pitched hydroxychloroquine as a safe and effective treatment for coronavirus, asking would-be patients “What the hell do you have to lose?” Growing evidence shows that, for many, the answer is their lives. Clinical trials, academic research and scientific analysis indicate that the danger of the Trump-backed drug is a significantly increased risk of death for certain patients. Evidence showing the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in treating covid-19 has been scant. Those two developments pushed the Food and Drug Administration to warn against the use of hydroxychloroquine outside of a hospital setting last month, just weeks after it approved an emergency use authorization for the drug. Alarmed by a growing cache of data linking the anti-malaria drug to serious cardiac problems, some drug safety experts are now calling for even more forceful action by the government to discourage its use. Several have called for the FDA to revoke its emergency use authorization, given hydroxychloroquine’s documented risks. “They should say, ‘We know there are harms, and until we know the benefits, let’s hold off,’ ” said Joseph Ross, a professor of medicine and public health at Yale University, who added that the original authorization may have been warranted but new evidence has emerged about the drug’s risks. “I’m surprised it hasn’t been revoked yet,” said Luciana Borio, who served as director for medical and biodefense preparedness of the National Security Council and was acting chief scientist at the FDA. Trump downplays the need for coronavirus vaccine: ‘It’ll go away at some point’ President Trump said the U.S. will overcome the coronavirus crisis with or without an effective vaccine, saying that the disease will “go away at some point” either way. “If we don’t, we’re going to be like so many other cases where you had a problem come in, it’ll go away at some point, it’ll go away,” Trump said. Trump’s remarks downplaying the need for a vaccine came at an event unveiling his administration’s beefed-up efforts to fast-track the development and distribution of a vaccine for Covid-19. www.cnbc.com/2020/05/15/trump-downplays-need-for-coronavirus-vaccine-itll-go-away-at-some-point.html What a fucking idiot. Trump seems to be a lucky shit, so it is possible, but extremely unlikely that it could just fade away. SARS did, Mets did, but neither was as widespread. Hoping it goes away is fine, the problem is there is no plan if it doesn’t. A vaccine is good, oh wait, it’s not. Testing is good for my White House, but you don’t need it. It only kills old people, so what’s the big deal(my personal favorite), you get both whiplash and support for whatever you favor. He has made it worse by his inability to lead. God help us all that he hasn’t screwed us big time

You need to blend the ketchup with your bleach. That's why it didn't work. Makes the bleach go down smoother.

Did smallpox go away without a vaccine? Did polio? Polio was almost eradicated. Then came the coronavirus. Then came a threat from President Trump. For decades, the United States has worked with the World Health Organization and others to quash polio, beating back to near extinction a merciless disease that once paralyzed hundreds of thousands of children each year. That progress is in danger as the pandemic forces health-care providers to suspend door-to-door vaccination campaigns that have slashed the number of infections. New cases have emerged in Niger and Chad, and fears have mounted about a resurgence in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Although the number of new polio infections has been small — 155 confirmed cases since January — even blips are worrisome, public health experts say, because small increases can trigger explosive outbreaks, especially in poor countries without the resources to combat the virus alone. “The polio virus is being let free,” said Abdul Qadir, a health worker who has spent the past eight years delivering the vaccine in western Pakistan. The polio program also risks becoming collateral damage in a political controversy that could hinder eradication efforts long after the pandemic subsides. Last month, President Trump threatened to cut U.S. funding for polio and every other WHO program over the U.N. agency’s coronavirus response, which he called “China-centric.” In the weeks since, the president and his aides have worked behind the scenes to sideline the WHO. They have also sought to deflect criticism of the United States’ handling of the crisis by pointing to the WHO’s failure to demand more transparency and accountability from China in the earliest stages of the outbreak. Jesus Christ! The rotten, wormy apple doesn't fall far from the rotten and wormy tree. Eric Trump Said Coronavirus Shutdowns Are Part Of A Plot To Prevent Trump Campaign Rallies President Trump's son Eric accused Democrats of using the coronavirus to hurt his father's campaign for reelection and claimed that after Election Day, the virus would "magically" disappear. Eric Trump spoke Saturday night on Fox News to Judge Jeanine Pirro, calling for the need to reopen businesses across the US. He also disputed the threat the coronavirus proved to Americans — contradicting the concerns of public health leaders, including White House officials. www.buzzfeednews.com/article/claudiakoerner/eric-trump-coronavirus-fox-newsYes, dear, it's all an evil plot by the Democrats. 90,000 Americans did NOT die, and 1,700,000 Americans did NOT get sick. It's all in our fevered imaginations.

From Italy to Spain, France to the UK, Germany to South Korea, hundreds of countries on lockdown...My God!....Pelosi and her friends must have some incredible superpowers. All to bring down Trump.
Idiot. This kind of dumbfuckery can't be taught. It must be genetic.

Iimagine if trump had been president when polio first arrived.
If a person actually TRIED, they could not screw up as much as trump has and is.

I heard a commentator say (paraphrased) 'I don't know why everyone is calling Eric the dumb one. He got the family business and says very little publically. That is the smartest thing a Trump could do.' Also, I hope it is a hoax/plot by Democrats and goes away November 6th, right after Biden is elected. That would be fantastic.

Anything political is a touchy subject these days, so it's hard to broach. I was shocked a few years ago when I realized she didn't view Trump as negatively as we do. She's not exactly a Trump supporter so much as anti-Hillary, but the whole thing is polarizing. When I've tried in the past to figure out how she came to this "side" (for lack of a better term) by asking questions, she starts getting defensive, and just wants to stop talking about it. Oblique references made me realize dad is of the opposite opinion, so I believe they normally have a don't discuss this topic policy for marital harmony's sake, and I'm unknowingly breaking that policy when I infrequently visit. So I try to stay away from the T word/topic as much as possible with mom, despite wanting to discuss it rationally to understand. I've been thinking about the issue of where the microchip in a vaccine idea came from, and it's likely conversations with my younger sister and the younger of my brothers. Sis works for DHS, and she's become very Republican in recent years (disliked Obama's catch and release, or at least the opinions of her agents on it rubbed off on her, I guess). At Christmas she was telling me the "theory" that the coronavirus came from the lab in Wuhan, from lab animals that were supposed to be disposed of, and either were dumped improperly (incompetence or cost cutting) or were sold to the wet market (to make $, approved or unapproved). DB is the one for unapologetic conspiracy theory bs, always has been. I learned long ago not to trust the nonsense he spouts, and just tune it out. I see him rarely, he's moved out of state, so I'm not as exposed to his stories. I'd never heard of gaslighting, before Trump, but it fits DB's MO to a T. I haven't figured out if he really believes the stuff he says (that he heard elsewhere), or he just says whatever he feels like to see what people will swallow. But if you don't know the truth, he can be convincing. Does she belong to a bridge group? Years ago when Obama was first running my mom was convinced if he won he would give all the white peoples houses to poor black people. That whites would just have to move and lose their homes. She said all the ladies at bridge club agreed that would happen.

Ok we just discovered your mom is a racist nut case!😎

Years ago when Obama was first running my mom was convinced if he won he would give all the white peoples houses to poor black people. That whites would just have to move and lose their homes. She said all the ladies at bridge club agreed that would happen. Nope, she's never played bridge that I know of. She does have her social outlets - belongs to a garden club, ushers at a theater - but she also tells lots of stories about how nitwitted some of the other women are. That is, she's not blindly absorbing the other ladies' nonsense (not that it seems to veer political, they are just ditsy). She'd made the comment during our phone call, that she doesn't have many people she can talk to about this (not really the vaccine thing, but really "this" centers around pro-Trump or anti-Trump). Which tells me most of her circle of family and friends are anti-Trump. She kinda forgot I am, too, because I was deliberately avoiding direct references to his nonsense, knowing her mindset. I'm leaning more and more to DB as the ultimate source. Since Paul has resurfaced on the boards, I've realized how much DB repeats similar/identical conspiracy theories as biblical truth. I've just been ignoring it all along, but maybe mom has heard more of it, and repeated exposure has worked its magic. But dad hasn't been swayed, so IDK. Mom is otherwise an intelligent, educated, generous woman. There's no mental decline. I just don't get what drives people to believe this sort of crazy.

Such nice trumpers. 'Hang Fauci’ Sign Brandished Amid Lockdown Protesters Trump Hailed As ‘Great People’A disturbing sign with the words “Hang Fauci” appeared in a news report about COVID-19 lockdown protesters whom President Donald Trump hailed on Saturday as “great people.” The sign was part of a threatening rhyme reading: “Hang Fauci Hang Gates, Open Up All Our States.” It appeared in a local TV report Thursday on News 12 Long Island about the “Re-Open New York” protest that day in Commack.
