This troubles me. Why keep information from the public, the public trump is supposed to protect. Trump isn't pro-life.; just pro-lifestyle. Trump tightens grip on coronavirus information as he pushes to restart the economyPresident Trump in recent weeks has sought to block or downplay information about the severity of the coronavirus pandemic as he urges a return to normalcy and the rekindling of an economy that has been devastated by public health restrictions aimed at mitigating the outbreak. His administration has sidelined or replaced officials not seen as loyal, rebuffed congressional requests for testimony, dismissed jarring statistics and models ,praised states for reopening without meeting White House guidelines and, briefly, pushed to disband a task force created to combat the virus and communicate about the public health crisis. Several Republican governors are following Trump’s lead as an effort takes shape to control the narrative about a pandemic that has continued to rage throughout a quickly reopening country. With polls showing most consumers still afraid to venture out of their homes, the Trump administration has intensified its efforts to soothe some of those fears through a messaging campaign that relies on tightly controlling information about a virus that has proven stubbornly difficult to contain. “If the message were to go out with complete objectivity, it would be disastrous for Trump,” said Max Skidmore, a political science professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and the author of a book on presidential responses to pandemics. “So he is doing his best to prevent experts from speaking out or using their expertise, and he’s simply trying to divert attention.” Complete article here: Trump tightens grip on coronavirus information as he pushes to restart the economyDid you see the presser where trump jumped on a nurse who said there were still pope shortages? It’s Orwellian. State things as you want them to be, not how they are, and violently suppress anyone talking facts. Another example- experts are talking about a prolonged recession while trump insists that by next year our economy will be better than its ever been. It’s terrifying. Our only hope is he gets voted out of office and someone with experience running a government and being truthful replaces him. trump's body language during his interaction with the nurse spoke volumes. Turned his back to her and then crossed his arms mentally thinking "You're dismissed and also dead to me." trump has been claiming he alone was responsible for the great economy and record low unemployment rates. Will he now take ownership for the tanking economy and record high unemployment rates (14.7%)? Of course not. trump is never responsible for bad things. Just good things.

I opened the article thinking it had to an old article. Had to be. Surely he has learned something by now. Nope! he made the comment today.

Couldn't have said it better on the way President Trump has handled the pandemic.....well, or anything else. Bet he tweets his little fingers off today! "What we’re fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy - that has become a stronger impulse in American life," the president said, adding, "And by the way, we’re seeing that internationally as well."
"It’s part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty. It would have been bad even with the best of governments," he stated.
"It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset - of “what’s in it for me” and “to heck with everybody else” - when that mindset is operationalized in our government," Obama said.www.msn.com/en-ae/news/other/obama-blasts-trumps-handling-of-coronavirus-pandemic-as-an-absolute-chaotic-disaster/ar-BB13PNCo

It feels like the Trump administration is pretty much letting every State handle the Pandemic how ever they want to.
I live in one of Trump's hated Democratic states (well, I don't know if it hates it or not - but he pretty much only says derogatory things about us. So I imagine he has disdain for the state - which isn't all that far from hate.) I don't feel like there's much coming from the Federal government (and I don't mean direct aid) in the form of leadership for our situation.
I'm wonder if Trump is showering his Republican states with help (and maybe even aid or preferential treatment)...

Even though we have a bad outbreak, we got half the doses of remdesivir from the feds in a population basis compared to less affected states. So yes, I think he hates us

Doctors Without Borders sends team to help Navajo Nation battle the coronavirusDoctors Without Borders has sent nine medical professionals to the Navajo Nation to help communities that have been ravaged by the coronavirus. Doctors Without Borders is an international humanitarian organization that works in conflict zones. "There are many situations in which we do not intervene in the United States, but this has a particular risk profile," Jean Stowell, head of the group's U.S. COVID-19 Response Team, told CBS News on Monday. "Situationally, the Native American communities are at a much higher risk for complications from COVID-19 and also from community spread because they don't have access to the variety of things that make it possible to self-isolate." About 170,000 people live in the Navajo Nation, where there are more coronavirus cases per capita than in any state. In addition to dealing with a lack of specialized medical staff, the Navajo Nation is also a food desert and an estimated one in three residents do not have access to running water. "I think it's difficult for Americans to realize how big this country is and how the needs are so different in each place," Stowell said. "You know, urban needs are very different than rural needs. And the needs of the Native American community are challenging because they look so different than the needs elsewhere, so they require a pretty significant coordinated effort." Arizona, Utah? New Mexico? Since it seems that it's every State for itself - why would any of the States involved bother with them? I know also that they aren't quite "Americans" in the view of our Federal Government (and probably at the State level, too.) I'm am thankful someone/some organization can offer them help... It's not like America is even a "good neighbor" these days...

I just read South Carolina (red state) has 1500 contact tracers on board currently and the governor says we are prepared to add more as new cases are found. 140 new cases were diagnosed on Monday with 15 additional deaths. That brings our total to about 8000 cases with 346 dead. State employees currently working from home are scheduled to return to their offices by June 3, at the latest. Gyms, barbershops, and salons will be allowed to re-open as soon as next week. Don't know how that compares to other states.

Only 30% of the voters think Trump is being truthful about the virus. can't be good right be an election. 30% think that there is already a vaccine for this virus but it is being intentionally withheld. If those aren't the same 30% it could be trouble for the rest of us.

Another demographic who thinks Trump isn't doing a great job - the 'haters.' These are the voters that hate both candidates, and end up picking the one they hate least, which is usually the party candidate who is currently not in power. In 2016, Hilary was most closely associated with the status quo, but now, Trump is. So Trump is losing that demographic, too. www.politico.com/news/2020/05/12/donald-trump-haters-joe-biden-clinton-244629So that's the 'hater' voters, the senior voters, the millennial voters, of course he's losing the Dem vote. How many more voting blocks can he lose and still win in November? Maybe that's why he's been so frantic lately.

the genius of Trump in 2016 was his "coalition of the disaffected".
never mind that the goals of these disaffected groups were often in conflict.
they were looking to express their anger, and Trump was their guy.
those that are still disaffected, 4 years later, will find another place to park their anger.

I doubt he actually believes that, because it is factually incorrect. the polls correctly predicted the results in 47 out of 50 states, and the national margin within 1%. it ended up being a crucial 1%. that is true. but national polls don't predict the election.
Wisconsin was the biggest surprise. and sure, it might be a surprise again. but don't count on it.

You know, handling the virus correctly is hard to do when you have to keep up with your conspiracy theories and name calling!
Trump promotes conspiracy theory accusing MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough of murder
Prior to his attack on Scarborough, Trump had already tweeted eight times Tuesday morning — including another post invoking “ColdCaseJoe!” and messages denigrating House Speaker “Crazy Nancy” Pelosi, “Fake Journalists” and “Sleepy Eyes” Chuck Todd of NBC News. He also wrote of comedian Bill Maher’s late-night HBO talk show: “Ratings way down, show sucks!"

it will hinge on turnout. so far, Democrats have had pretty much a clean sweep in competitive races since 2016. we will see what happens in CA 25 today, but even with that outlier, I think that Biden is likely to win your state.

Targeting Obama, Trump set a standard that came back to haunt himAs is his wont, Donald Trump has spent weeks making the case that his response to the coronavirus pandemic is great -- at least when compared to Barack Obama's response to H1N1 in 2009. In fact, the incumbent president has been quite aggressive on the talking point, throwing around words like "debacle" and "disaster" to describe his predecessor's record. To bolster the point, Trump has pointed to a specific statistic, which he seems to believe drives the larger point home. This was his pitch during a White House press briefing a week ago today: "Take a look at the swine flu. Right? That's H1N1. Take a look at that. And it's not the other way around, by the way. It's H1N1. Take a look -- you know what I mean by that. Take a look at the swine flu. It was a disaster; 17,000 people died. The other administra- they didn't even know -- it was like they didn't even know it was here." A day later, the Republican repeated the statistic on Twitter, labeling the federal response to H1N1 a "debacle" because "17,000 people died." Complete article here: Targeting Obama, Trump set a standard that came back to haunt himThe current death count as of April 13, 2020 from the Covid-19 in the U.S. is 23,485 and counting. The current death count as of April 14, 2020 from the Covid-19 in the U.S. is 25,239 and counting. Next update April 15. Just to update... now the fool who complained about 17,000 deaths in a year has 5 times the number in 2 months. Bigly winning. Best pandemic ever. All the poor souls lost
