Hello everyone. I have been gone since the first week of January, and due to the pandemic, I am now back home and catching up on the board. I see little has changed since I left. Trump this! Trump that! He is killing people! He is an idiot! He hates the common person! He is a racist! I think there might be two posters who do not attack him daily here, and I might have that number inflated by one. It is time for some soul searching by some members. Even with the pandemic happening America says he is doing the job.
Guess what? Bookmark this post for reference in November. because ..................
President trump will win re-election.
(eventually at election I will explain why) The only thing I wonder about is how so many of you do not believe it or see it coming.

The Faux viewers think he’s doing great. People who follow the actual news know he screwed up.

If it was 90% you might have a winner. 60% not so much. That’s actually a pathetic number all things considered, such as all his hoax 15 cases and going down BS.

The American people give Presidents support in the middle of a crisis. It will be interesting what the state of affairs are in early November. Very true. George H.W. Bush had an approval rating of 89% after the end of the Gulf War in 1991. He was an average president at best, and was not re-elected only one year later. George W. Bush hit 90% approval after 9/11, and he was the worst president in three generations, later winning a disputed election despite losing the popular vote and having a possibly biased court process aid his victory. The polls may say that Trump is doing a good job on his handling of the crisis, but his overall approval rating is still under 50%. He remains the only president in history to never once hit even a 50% approval rating. By historical precedent Trump should be WAY above where he is. That he is not is an indictment of his personality, his behavior, his character, and his performance.

January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.” February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.” February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.” February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.” February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.” *be sure to note the number of cases 30 days later* February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.” February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.” February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.” February 28: “Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that, right? Coronavirus, they’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ They go, ‘Oh, not good, not good.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa.” “They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything. They tried it over and over. They’d been doing it since you got in. It’s all turning. They lost. It’s all turning. Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax.” March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?” March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.” March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.” March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.” March 5: “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!” *again note the number of cases 21 days later* March 6: “I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.” March 6: “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.” March 6: “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.” March 6: “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.” March 8: “We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.” March 9: “This blindsided the world.” Edit: March 9: "The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democratic Party, is doing everything within its semi-considerable power (it used to be greater!) to inflame the CoronaVirus situation, far beyond what the facts would warrant.” March 10: "It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away." March 13: National Emergency Declaration March 13: “I don't take responsibility at all” March 15: "TODAY IS A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER. GOD BLESS EVERYONE!" March 16: "I give myself a 10 out of 10" March 17: “I’ve always known this is a real—this is a pandemic. I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.” 85,840 confirmed cases now as of March 26 #1 in the world #MAGA fucking moron

The longer this goes on, the more the American public is going to realize how screwed up his response is. Open and raring to go by Easter? The number of cases is still rising....
A real leader would have learned from other countries how to combat this virus....shut her down (should have been done a long time ago), help Americans through that difficult time period, be done with it.
I agree, it is time from soul searching.....this debacle might encourage Trump supporter to finally do it.

The American people give Presidents support in the middle of a crisis. It will be interesting what the state of affairs are in early November. True that. And Trump is only getting 50% support right now (Gallup at 60 is an outlier) During the First Gulf War George HW Bush had approval ratings nearing 90%. He lost re-election.

The approval will depend on what he does from here on out. If he gets rid of Fauci or opens up America against Fauci’s advice, he will lose a lot of support.

The inability of the President to coordinate efforts to get needed equipment to the states needing it is going to sink that approval rating. Especially when the death count goes way up.
I just saw a news report where New Orleans is requesting equipment, and guess how much they're getting? Zero. So much for government help...
I have seen other polls that don't give such generous numbers to the president. People are being supportive of our fellow Americans, and the effort being put in to fight the virus. The president as a leader, not so much.

While you are touting 60% as a fantastic, perfect, best number, we have pointed out in numerous posts that 90% would be more like it for a POTUS doing a decent job. As you can read on Steff’s comprehensive post Trump has been mangling this since day 1. Your inability to see that this man has done a very poor job responding to Covid -19 is telling.

The only thing I wonder about is how so many of you do not believe it or see it coming.
Liberals would rather cut their tongue out than admit anything good about Trump. No change in that.
Common sense and brains are already gone

I saw it as necessary. Unfortunately he stopped there not understanding that the virus was already in the US.

The people posting here are, by and large, Americans. If they are posting their true feelings then they are the true feelings of Americans. It's ignorant to try and paint anyone whose opinion differs from yours as un-American. But I guess it just proves your point that nothing has changed.

We have never had such a lying, petulant, sneering, name calling, bullying asshole for POTUS. Any thought that he can become more ‘presidential’ is long gone. Those of us that still buy into his tired schtick have deluded themselves that he is even remotely worthy of holding the highest office in the land.

I don't know what "Americans" think about it, but I think he's doing a crappy job of handling it.
Why did I see/witness my local government and my employer actively preparing for the crisis during the weeks Trump was pooh poohing the threat of a coronavirus pandemic and how it would effect America overall? I'm assuming Trump had access to much of the same information about the possible threat as my local government and even MY EMPLOYER. Why did my local government and MY EMPLOYER think the threat of a pandemic was worth taking action on and the President of the United States did not? Was Trump just providing another "comedy routine" to alleviate the stress and tension?
If Trump WAS doing something during the weeks he laughed off the pandemic - why wouldn't he have highlighted WHAT was being done at the government level? Why wasn't he able to provide some calming reassuring words for the American People? Or WHY didn't he say some words to follow what our local governments were doing (because they were following some bigger plan that he was in charge of)? Why was the Federal Government always trailing behind what my local government (state, county, city) was doing by about 7 days?
So, this American doesn't think Trump handled the current situation correctly at all. I think he's doing a crap job.

Gallup says 60% of Americans agree he is dong a good job. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-24/trump-s-handling-of-coronavirus-approved-by-60-in-gallup-poll-k86e29otIs America wrong, or is it the members of this board? So, VB, tell me what you think of Trump's absolutely brilliant idea to station 1,000 troops at the Canadian border to keep Canadians from sneaking into the US? You know.....the same Canadians who don't want to sneak into a country which is the planet's hot zone and where they would have to pay for healthcare? Dumbest thing I've ever heard, not to mention a huge waste of time, manpower and resources.
