In spite of hearing better now with cochlear implants, I am realizing just how heavily I am still dependent on lip reading to help me understand. I am struggling to communicate with people wearing face masks. It is a small thing in the greater scheme of things, but it is frustrating.
I am grateful that we are healthy, and still are working, but I feel additionally isolated when I have to go out in public.

I just got the electric bill for my business. It's about half of normal; because mostly we are working at home.

I work in a hospital. I am not a hero; I'm a secretary. The patients families as well as local restaurants have been overly generous. I stress eat. My weight is moving in the wrong direction. I'm exhausted. I want a month off (I won't get it.) I start a good food plan and we get a beautiful fresh pastry and coffee delivery. I bring a good lunch to work and the Italian buffet smell drives me crazy. I haven't slept for more than 4 hrs at a time in 6 weeks.

Today was not one of the better days. As expected mask plus asthma isn't working well together. Cloth masks I'm trying to get for my DH's oldest sister's family are not ready yet.
I called Spirit and got through with no wait time. They had changed my flight date for a trip next month. I took the refund. I had already paid the flight charges off. Since it's been a day, I promptly spent it on pretty new shoes from Brooks and a stability ball. Yay for curbside pickup.
DH is now in charge of grocery shopping. My mom's going to try and send me a different mask.

The sun was out today so lots of flowers got moved to new homes for more or less sun or better drainage. The masks DS sent me finally got here. I think USPS must have routed them through East Overshoe, Iowa and Bumblef*ck, RI. The globe amaranth seeds I ordered last week came today. DD gave me a $100 gift card to Home Depot. She said it was National No Reason For a Present Day.
All in all, it was a better day than most until I came inside and my tv was tuned to the Daily Campaign-and-Complain Rally. I changed the channel. Now I'm watching American Greed and wondering how long before there are episodes featuring the current White House occupant.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow morning. Fine. I'll be at Home Depot's garden center spending the free money if there are flowers that suit me.

Tess, IMO you are a hero as are all the unsung folks in hospitals and healthcare environments. The housekeepers, dietary staff, front desk staff, recreation, schedulers, etc.
I work in a hybrid healthcare building. I am past my limit and worried about how exposed I am. Every day admissions come in by me who are Covid-19 positive. The ambulance personnel wear masks but the patients generally do not. The front desk, which includes me is tasked with taking temps of ambulance personnel among others. Plus the workload and the duties have increased significantly. The last few shifts I have consumed less than half of my usual liquid intake due to lack of time and increasing stress.

Tired Tess & Opt 4..... Thank you for all both of you are doing. Hang in there, there will be an end. I'm not doing too hot today. I went grocery shopping yesterday & went to 4 different stores to get my needs. Last night I could barely move due to my back issues. DH plastered my back with SalonPas patches & then I took ibuprofen before laying down. A whole LOT better today...but DH isn't great after carrying in all the groceries. He had major back surgery in mid Feb. & is still not up to par for him yet. I really need to get outside & get some things planted in my raised beds...not sure I'll be able to do that no matter how much I want to.

Another good day for me. That's two in a row! Amazing how having things to do in the garden helps. Today I got to plant things. And I went Walmarting with DD and wore my new tie-dyed red, white and blue mask. Other people had boring masks. Mine is a fashion statement

I sewed a dozen masks today. They will go to the collection drop box and be distributed by the county mask group. I could have made more, but received 30 yards of fabric which needed to be cut into manageable sections, then washed and pressed. Tomorrow I’ll deliver it to the woman who collects and distributes supplies. We have almost 100 sewers in our county making masks that ate handed out free at distribution pounts. To date, the group has distributed 2000 masks.
I’m thinking of making and selling a few specialty masks on ebay to help pay for the fabric, elastic and bias tape that I’ve bought

Just curious and a question for any poster with school-aged kid(s): many states have closed their schools through the end of the academic school year. Were your children told to clean out their school lockers on the last day school was held? Or are their possessions still locked up in their school. Thanks. I'm a little late here catching up on this thread. My kids' last day of school was March 13, which was just a week before Spring Break, and it was only supposed to be a 3 week shutdown in total. I told my own kids to bring all their stuff home with them. When I was picking them up after school, I almost started crying seeing all the kindergarteners leaving with all their nap gear. The teachers had instructed all the kids to bring everything home. I'm glad they did. My DH did have to stop there Friday for the school Chromebook distribution, but that was done going through the front driveway.

Had a few good days to let the stress drop down for a bit. Hubby had a really nasty earache that kept him home for 2 days & then he was off for 2 days, so 4 days of him home. Whining because of his earache, but we were able to do the Teledoc/telehealth thing & get him a prescription for it. Kiddo has been on vacation this past week, so that helps with my stress/worry level too.
But tomorrow hubby goes back to work & kiddo goes back on Tuesday. There's confirmed cases at both of their work locations. So my stress/worry level will start climbing again.
I did have a bit of a cry in the car on Friday. With Smithfield closing plants & now Tyson closing plants in Georgia, I hit the grocery store/Hispanic market to stock up on some pork & chicken. It was listening to a dj on the radio thanking nurses & doctors that made me start crying again. Wasn't an ugly cry, just a little tearing up cry over the entire situation all around right now. All of this has made me overly emotional.

Bought a couple nine pounders of these at the food store Thursday. Cost was about $1.10 a pound. I would have bought them anyway whether we were locked in at home or not. Always on sale after a holiday.
