Doing better today. Had a breakdown on the phone with my brother yesterday. I knew he would let me cry & then talk me back off the ledge. I need to hold it together around hubby & kiddo because they are the ones actually out there facing it. All I'm dealing with is worry & I can't put that on them too.
I'm also probably feeling better today because I have both hubby & kiddo at home today. It's easier to feel safe when they aren't at work for a few days. I can turn the fear back on Thursday when hubby goes back to work.

Hubby got word tonight that the 2nd plant, where the employee had CV19 and died, is shutting down for 2 weeks. They now have multiple confirmed cases at that plant.

I have been pretty productive until now. Doing video exercise classes, walking, yard work, and long term projects.
But the last two days, just being lazy. No ambition. Just surfing the internet and snacking.

Along with a 3 pack of chlorox wipes (generic brand). It was a successful trip/

Today I'm ready to sleep until it's over. Now we need masks in stores, beginning Saturday. Masks aggravate my asthma and there are none to be found anyway. Nothing I've tried to order has worked out for me. My brother is giving me 10 tonight.

I really struggle with having too much unscheduled time. courts are closed so I'm lacking deadlines. I'm also lacking funds coming in because I have several large estates in limbo because of the court closure. I'm waitting on my PPP/CARES act funding to come in. My husband quit his job so he's home all the time. He's willing to volunteer in NYC or work as a contract employee at the temporary hospitals, but one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing and it's a cluster. And then if he goes, I'm on my own. He will also have to self quarantine when he gets back so I have to finish fixing up our second house. He's also applying for a few other jobs and nobody is getting back to him on the timeline they said they would. I get why they this is happening, but it's not helping him. I also have teenagers that aren't very happy about the situation, and parents stuck in FL, and my mom has severe dementia (she declined rapidly this winter) and needs to be in a nursing home before my dad has a stroke taking care of her. I just want to curl up with my pets. But now it's tick season and I don't want Lyme disease.

Just curious and a question for any poster with school-aged kid(s): many states have closed their schools through the end of the academic school year. Were your children told to clean out their school lockers on the last day school was held? Or are their possessions still locked up in their school.
Thanks.

Were your children told to clean out their school lockers on the last day school was held? Or are their possessions still locked up in their school. Thanks. Our schools haven't officially ended the year, yet... We had no warning before schools closed. Friday March 13 was the last day DS5 had school. That evening on the local news, the Superintendent of Buffalo city schools rolled out his plan for *when* they had to inevitably close schools (cases in NYC, but none in our region at that point): Buffalo city schools closed the upcoming Monday so teachers could scramble to put together packets for students, plans for passing out hotspots for those w/o internet, plans for distribution of lunches daily, plans for medical services for the many students for whom school was their only source, etc. Tuesday, students were to report to pick up the several weeks packets (plus any meds on campus, hotspots, chromebooks, etc). Then reevaluate if/when to close before Wednesday. Reality hit first - first local cases (traced back to NYC and Italy travelers) confirmed Saturday March 14, more next day. Because Buffalo had knocked down the first domino, every other district followed quickly, and the counties in the region made it universal - schools closed immediately, either until after spring break ended 4/20, or just indefinitely. Our district scheduled a pickup day for packets (thrown together quickly by staff on Monday) on Tuesday. I don't think kids were allowed in, just parents - DH got DS5's instrument, too. DH had until that Friday to put together packets for his students (alternative school). He's been back a few times, doing 2 weeks at a time. He didn't have permission to even attempt something like YouTube video lessons until this week, and many students may not have access from home. We just got a call from one of DS5's teachers to check on why he hadn't logged in to her platform. She's had lots of issues with getting things running, she was waiting to call until the kinks were worked out. He didn't know about her platform schoolegy (sp?), he'd been checking Google classroom that others had been using (and I had to check the district website to learn about those teachers to nudge him). Only the music teacher reached out via email early on, consistently with daily videos to watch. So DS5 has some catching up to do, due to poor communication. Talking with the teacher, no one knows how this year plays out. Regents are cancelled, I doubt kids will return this schoolyear. But how are they grading? DH is guessing pass/fail, and done.

My son has no storage at school. My daughter's school sent an email saying if students left anything at school they were to contact their homeroom teacher to arrange a time to pick it up. It wasn't until after the time window closed that I found out my daughter took all our painting tarps to decorate for Prom and left them there. I anticipate never seeing them again.

Thanks, teen persuasion . I asked because the governor of Tennessee announced today(?) schools would be closed until the end of the school year. And it makes sense here as the Gov had already closed school until the end of April. And the end of the school year around me is about May 20 or so. So to the Gov, it dudn't make sense to open up the schools just for three weeks.. And it makes sense for NY not to make that decision yet because your schools don't close for the summer until mid-June.

Both my kids in college have the option for pass fail this term... daughter is in her last 2 weeks, son has quarters and so they just started the spring term that will be done in June. Daughter can opt pass/fail or withdraw up to the last week. I'm not sure son's policy, since he isn't actually in classes this term.
I know its not regular school, but we removed all of daughter's things a few days before the school required everyone to move their things out. Son's stuff is in his apartment but they abated rent for this term, so we can't access it until middle of June, or waive abatement. We could have gotten things out before April 1st.... but Philly.

My H. and I are fine. We are in our winter home hunkered down but can grocery shop, walk, bike, golf, order food take out at a close restaurant. We sit outside 6 to 10 feet apart for toddies on the patio. None of us know anyone what has the virus. Emotionally everyone is good.
I have books to read. I'm watching episodes of America Unearthed. Expedition Unknown. FB.
And then our daily self-care like eating, dishes, showering, laundry. All of us do these same things. One very alarming thing. Instacart was not delivering groceries to our resort. The grocer would do nothing. Instacart nothing. Today, I don't know what's going on there. If we order groceries for pick up, it is a week. I had stopped eating chocolates that accounts for anywhere from 250 to 1000 calories a day. Do I feel reduction or melting, doesn't feel like it. I also cut way back on potato chips.

If you think the toilet paper shortage is bad now, it just might get worse. No serious injuries in the explosion. Maine toilet paper mill explosion draws tweet from Stephen KingA massive explosion at a paper mill in Maine, which sent a huge plume of thick, black smoke into the air, was caught on video Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported but much of the building was destroyed, according to reports. “I’m just so happy that everyone’s OK. Thank our lucky stars and the man upstairs,” Kristen Goodhart of nearby Farmington, whose son works at the mill, told WCSH-TV of Portland. Well, my Mom died this February. I am the executor and trying to get RE and land surveyed, prepped and marketed now. My wife's Mom is in a Nursing Home/ hospice with what will prob be a fatal condition, and increasing dementia. With the lockdown there are no visitors, and it is driving DW nuts, not to mention her poor Mom. Our business is closing, planned long before this, and I am navigating that. Plant is sold- closes June 1- fingers crossed. Auction on site May 20th, that should be interesting. Trying to finish out contracts now, a couple of them at VA and defense sites where the PTB are clear as mud about their CV-19 status, so we are declining onsite services. Trying to get paid our receivables. Closing down a business is a weird thing all by itself. I am in the midst of trying to find out if/ when I need surgery for a cardiovascular thing, and the whole medical system is rather chaotic right now. I am quite concerned they are going to suddenly say NOW right in the midst of a lot of stuff going on, because I'll be laid up for quite a while after the procedure. In the meantime there are civic municipal obligations that are on hold right now and will come roaring back who knows when, and they will be a jumble when they do. BUT, we have a paid off roof over our heads, dough in the bank and food in the fridge, and each other. (plus the dog!) Crazy, crazy days, but it could be a lot, lot worse, and for many people it is. Still, I have moments where I just think WTF?

How am I doing? So far having another "What's the use?" moment. Maybe I'll feel better after getting dressed, tidying up the Hovel, and getting outside to play in the dirt. If I can get motivated enough to get dressed, tidy up the Hovel, and get outside to play in the dirt. Again, what's the use? There's no hope.
