If you think the toilet paper shortage is bad now, it just might get worse. No serious injuries in the explosion. Maine toilet paper mill explosion draws tweet from Stephen KingA massive explosion at a paper mill in Maine, which sent a huge plume of thick, black smoke into the air, was caught on video Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported but much of the building was destroyed, according to reports. “I’m just so happy that everyone’s OK. Thank our lucky stars and the man upstairs,” Kristen Goodhart of nearby Farmington, whose son works at the mill, told WCSH-TV of Portland. There is hope. It might not look the way we want it to look on the timetable we want it to look, but there is hope.
Tend your flowers. Then send one of us pics so we can share them! Give us all a piece of hope 😊

How am I doing? So far having another "What's the use?" moment. Maybe I'll feel better after getting dressed, tidying up the Hovel, and getting outside to play in the dirt. If I can get motivated enough to get dressed, tidy up the Hovel, and get outside to play in the dirt. Again, what's the use? There's no hope. Oh Missrigby, I am sorry you are feeling this way. It can be overwhelming. There is hope though. I have hope. We need to keep hope, it is the fuel for human progress. I bet you will feel a little better after you play in the dirt. Hang in there!

I'm trying not to fall asleep at my desk. All my pain meds kicked in and a nap sounds most excellent right now. The Lidocaine patch on my back is helping too.

Hedges trimmed. Azaleas cut back. Begonias and verbena potted. Everdamnthang watered. Tools cleaned and put away. Laundry dried. Some folded. Some put away for the summer. Some left to do. I feel like a nap and haven't even dipped into Wisconsin Beth's pain meds.

So, I hate to disappoint everyone. It was a paper mill, but they don't make TP.

Just curious and a question for any poster with school-aged kid(s): many states have closed their schools through the end of the academic school year. Were your children told to clean out their school lockers on the last day school was held? Or are their possessions still locked up in their school. Thanks. DD is a HS senior. The school has closed for the year, so her last day was some unexceptional day in March. They are allowing students to pick up their belongings next week. Sounds like the lockers are cleaned out by staff. Student stays in line in their car, give their name, items are put on a table, student goes to table to pick up their items and leaves. Sounds time consuming, but DD didn't have a locker, so no issue for us. She has a library book and laptop that need to be returned. As far as grades are concerned, she is pretty much done. Grades can only go up with online work and her grades are all low B's, so she isn't motivated to do any of it, except one class that is almost an A. She is more concerned with the AP tests.

I just realized that I still have Monday off, even though the Boston Marathon was postponed. (the perks of working in town!)
that takes a big weight off my shoulders about getting everything packed by the following weekend. whoo!

Just saw on the news home versions of the SAT and ACT college entrance exams are being prepared in case schools remain closed in the fall. The college Board announced this after announcing the cancellation of June testing.
How will this work-the honor system?

Donnadub got a bit of antsy anxiety today. She was triggered by Santana 3 on vinyl which I was listening too while making some chestnut creme thumbprint cookies. So she went for her daily walk.
I highly recommend that record,
but it is a bit up tempo and raucous. You want to get something done have a double espresso and put on any of the first 3 Santana albums.😎

I had heard many colleges were waiving the requirement for SAT scores, though. I've had to proctor (at the library) college exams for online courses for individuals. We were basically just vetting that the person who was taking the test was who they said they were (check id, no one else helped). Possibly some version of that? With video check-in to confirm yourself ? - the kids have had to upload pictures of themselves before taking the SAT in recent years to prevent someone taking it for them.

But after picture checking in, and if the test is taken at home, someone could take their place/seat. Time will tell. May not even happen.

NastyWoman party pooper. Right. I'm feeling better now that I've updated my FB status to tell FB family/friends that I'm going to delete my page at the end of the day.

DH turns 50 today.
Happy birthday to your DH. 50 years = 1/2 century. My DD didn't like it much when I told her that on her 50th, and I just laughed. When the G-dtrs turned 25 I told them they were 1/4 century old ........... they didn't like that either. Oh darn ............ My DH turned 82 yesterday and the most I could get for him was a card and a microwave mug brownie. Our dinner was a take-out from a local restaurant. BBQ ribs, slaw, beans, corn muffin.

I had the same little talk with myself this morning too Missy. I finally heard this little voice reminding me I can be as happy as I want to be. If I want to wallow in sadness and sorry that's my choice. Then considered if I really wanted to live like this the rest of my life (my Mom lived to 99) I definitely don't want to live another 25 years being sorry for myself and making others around me unhappy too (even though some might deserve it).
Abe Lincoln once said, "Most people are as unhappy as they want to be" or maybe it was "as happy" either way, I just don't want to live that way.

DS just called. Told me to watch a youtube video called "make your bed" by a Navy seal who's now an admiral. Watched video. Made bed. I still don't want to be a Navy seal, but I'll go out and trim the hedges, cut back the azaleas that are done blooming, pot some plants. I LOVE that book. Gave it to my oldest grandson for high school graduation....likely never read it, but maybe some day.

Hang in there Swamp. You're tougher than nails usually. We all have shit days, even weeks, though. Sucks his mother bought the cake, but she could have bought the farm. That would have ruined his day.
