chiver78, I've seen posts on the local NextDoor from people trying to offload their garage fridges for little to no money, as well as some smaller dorm size ones as well so maybe try there. Another thing I saw on NextDoor was when I went looking for recommendation for someone to come fix our Samsung fridge when it wouldn't hold temp couple of years ago. I found out that there were a lot of people who were having problems with their Samsung fridges and not too many options for fixing them as no one wanted to. What we noticed was that there was some ice in the back of the fridge where the vents are so we pugged it out and thawed, that worked. Good luck! thanks, that's basically what Ken and I found this afternoon (thanks, Ken!) that there's some drain add-on part I should install, but I need to defrost it first. *I* can get by on shelf-stable and frozen shit for a few days, but my dogs eat fresh. I just ran over to Home Depot and picked up a 2.6cu ft Magic Chef fridge for $120. it can easily be the beer fridge later. I thought about searching the local groups, but I'm still wiped out from my sunburn. I just wanted it done. a 2.6, I could lift by myself and not have to worry about awkward packaging banging off my sunburned shins. oh, and my fridge is a Samsung, too. love them for electronics. they should stay in their lane as far as everything else. My Samsung dryer is pretty good. Maybe it's just the fridges that have issues.

You can pry my Samsung phone and TVs from my cold dead hands. However, their bigger appliances suck from what I've observed. I don't understand how their electronic boards are so great on the TVs and suck so much on other stuff.
We specifically bought a GE fridge because they said parts would be available. The place we bought it said you couldn't get parts or service techs for LG/Samsung. I guess maybe that's why they tend to be cheaper?
The fridge did something dumb when it was like 3 months old. I came home from a weekend away to a freezer compartment full of frost and ice on everything. The GE tech had two theories. He replaced both the motherboard and water valve for the ice maker. It was a slight debacle to get the tech out so by the time he came out, he couldn't get the computer readings for that weekend.
It's never done another thing. I really wish we had been here that weekend. I just have no clue what it did since we were gone.
The washer and dryer last year ended up being GE too. I wanted basically dumb ones that would allow me to control the water level. That cut out a lot of options and this pair had decent reviews.

You can just use your hair dryer to defrost any small buildup of ice and then your fridge should work fine A neighbor of mine did that recently in order to expedite the defrosting process.

I may have just melted some of the back panel. I'll look at it closer later tonight, to see what else is left for ice. I should figure out if i need a new panel back there, it looks like there's foam behind the plastic. idk. this isn't what I had in mind to come home to.

Wednesday is trash night so I'm all about cleaning out the fridge today.
I baked the last of the bacon from the package I took out of the freezer Sunday to flavor the green beans. That was breakfast.
Lunch I made quesadillas with shredded chicken, black beans, corn and cheddar. There are several left for another meal.
Dinner I'm going to bake off 2 turkey burgers with my meatloaf glaze. DH is getting salmon. He'll do whatever he wants with that. I have a partial pack of green beans left to cook and there's mac and cheese left from Sunday.

I'm not interested in my leftover chicken piccata for dinner. I've got a small russet in the oven now, and will put a frozen broccoli with cheese sauce in the microwave near the end of the potato's cook time.

I'm going with my ground pork in a skillet again, but I'll use a timer to make sure I cook it long enough. Actually, with the heat I might be lazy and go with the last can of sale low sodium corned beef hash. Not super healthy, but I do put onions and green beans with it.

We had eggplant parmigiana, it was good and enough left for tomorrow or the next day, we ate half.

Our freezer went out and ruined a lot of meat. We were gone. It was warm so no one checked the house. The house watcher was doing snow removal and found it. He pulled all the ick out. The trash was delayed because of blizzard but it did get taken out. The freezer was out for clean up week. It worked out.
I'm doing some chicken in orange juice with onion, mushrooms and apricot jelly. I'll have to guess at the amounts since I can't find the recipe. 90 second rice and left over green beans that I've been trying to eat up.

last night was the leftover chicken piccata. tonight will be dinner out at the sports bar patio with the pups. chicken tenders for them, probably a chicken Caesar wrap with fries for me.

Thursday night was queso dip and quesadillas. I ran out of tortillas on Wednesday so I put the rest of the filling in the fridge. I got more Thursday and after I cooked them I decided they would be dinner. We can have spaghetti next week.

Did a bit of planning on my day off last Thursday. Subject to change, of course, LOL. The focus is on the many refrigerated condiments. Tonight: Tuna spinach salad with homemade horseradish dressing (we have a ton of horseradish leftover from St. Patrick's Day) Taco Tues: Slow cooker shredded chicken tacos in mini low carb tortillas, use queso Wed: Greek salmon salad with homemade Greek salad dressing Thurs: Air fried pork chops using more of the horseradish, side veggie Fri: Take out from? Sat: Neighbor's house or....? Sun: Grill/smoke using up one of two open BBQ sauces or more horseradish Mon: Crock Pot spaghetti squash chow mein Taco Tues: Low carb Navajo tacos, use queso Wed: Kielbasa, shrimp and zucchini stir fry Thurs: Canned crab salads Fri: Take out from? Sat: BD party at a different neighbors. I'm predicting the usual taco bar. Sun: Steak and crawfish, veggie Mon day off: BBQ with yet another set of neighbors? Have a fantastic week, everyone.

I bought a haddock filet yesterday and ended up not cooking it. that's definitely on the menu tonight, between tomorrow being trash day and the fishy smell that's starting in the fridge. that will go with either a green or Caesar salad tonight.
for the rest of the week, I've got a package of chicken breast tenders (which I might split half for the freezer) and a package of boneless pork chops. there's a big bowl of veggie-ful pasta salad left over from the weekend that will pair nicely with both proteins, and I've got other veggies I can roast.

Monday night we had slices of pizza at the baseball game.
Tuesday night I made spaghetti with garlic bread. I finally opened the last package of the garlic bread that I don't love. It was a purchase last year when you took what you could get.
Wednesday DH grilled burgers.

Tuesday night, I split the package of chicken tenders. I sauteed half and shredded them into a skillet of Lipton rice with broccoli. there's plenty left over. last night, I cooked off the pork chops in my Dutch oven. two seasoned with Penzey's Northwoods blend, two (cooked first) unseasoned that may end up being for the pups. idk. tonight, I'm not sure. I think I'm going to freeze the rest of the chicken tenders for another day, and work off the leftovers in the fridge. I still have pesto, too. decisions, decisions. ETA: I found this keeper recipe while scrolling FB yesterday. I loosely followed, it's a basic cream sauce. link this blog is amazing, everything is so good. I poured this over some pappardelle and had some crusty bread for dipping. total fat kid dinner, with all of the carbs. tomorrow is another 'family dinner night' at the sports bar patio so I can drop the pups with M for the weekend. Saturday night is Garth Brooks!

Thursday night I made sloppy joes from scratch and baked the last of a bag of sweet potato fries. I need to figure out where I bought the fries and buy another bag. Frozen fries still seem to be in short supply.

my group wasn't thrilled about the food coming out at the sports pub, so we bailed after spoiling the pups. dropped them at M's house, and we hit up the Chinese place I love over there. I picked up the tab as a thank you for them keeping the pups for the weekend. $58 plus tip for a round of (very strong) drinks, edamame, veggie spring rolls, beef teriyaki, pork fried rice w/bean sprouts, and an order of French fries (why, mooch? lol...). I sent the leftovers home with them, I won't be here tomorrow and still have leftovers in my fridge already.

Easy dinner, hot dogs, and mac and cheese, plus corn for hubs and DD.
I made me some salmon cakes, they didn't come out cakes though, LOL! Wasn't enough juice in the can so kind of fell apart. But that's ok, I ate it anyway, just not in cake form.
Salmon, add raw egg, chopped onions, chopped celery, crackers. Form into cakes and fry, still tasted good. Hubs nor DD like them.

I just cooked ground beef and kale, and then another pot of white rice, all for the pups. I don't wanna cook anything for myself tonight. I need to think on this a bit. tonight might be takeout, or a quesadilla. I managed to find both boneless chicken breasts and thighs this afternoon, with sell by dates of 6/1. so I have time. tomorrow night might well be this Tuscan chicken over pasta, or mashed potatoes if mooch ends up coming up. that's usually what he asks for when I make meatloaf, and what I promised when he comes to install my new dishwasher. ETA: I found a package of Buitoni tortellini in the freezer, chicken and prosciutto. I'm going to cook that and toss it with the last of the pesto I made last week. easy peasy, done.

Monday night was Panera take out. I spent too much money on food Monday. I got back super late from our weekend trip and was operating on 3 hours of sleep.
Tuesday night homemade hamburger helper. It's damp and cold out. The rain finally stopped but ugh.
Plus I discovered there's probably still a good 20 pounds of hamburger in the freezer. I thought we had made more of a dent than that.

last night, I heated up a carton of corn and poblano chowder. I added some canned chicken and crunchy tortilla strips.
tonight will be arroz con pollo, using the boneless chicken thighs in the fridge. I need to pick up yellow rice and likely frozen peas.

Thursday night we ordered Texas Roadhouse. $41 with tip.
Friday night beef fajitas. Maybe $10. The beef is from 2 packages of round tip steak in the freezer. There should be leftovers. Trying to finish up using the last of beef from that cow before we get the new stuff.

I ate too much last night. We had pizza and I had small slices but I still had 3, normally eat no more than 2. Have to really watch that, but man it was good. Hubs gets a 14 inch one from a hole in the wall place in the next little town from us it's only $16 and has the best crust ever. We all really like them. We got to the nearest bigger town and theirs is almost $30, both are excellent.
Tonight, I'm having filets on the grill and I'm making potato salad. Will likely have a regular salad also so I can fill up on it the most. Need to dig around in the freezer but think I'm out of garlic bread. Hubs and DD like it, may run into town and get some.

Friday night, I picked up a small calzone. I had the other half of it last night. today I'm going to grill off some black peppercorn marinated boneless chicken breast for the week. at some point I'll have a big green salad with a piece of chicken, and I'll probably reheat some arroz con pollo at some other point.
