tonight's going to be takeout. I just haven't decided between sushi or Chinese. votes welcome. ETA: the mention of leftovers brought me back to reality. I remembered I had bought a scala roll at the bakery the night before, so I made a fancy turkey sandwich. I spread pesto on each half and melted a slice of provolone under the broiler. then layered a bunch of veggies on top of the turkey. I'm just so sick of cooking....

My DH would vote for Chinese. Every time I get it lately I feel like I licked a salt brick the next day.
We are getting pizza or subs. Thursday night is the sub special at a local place.

I vote sushi. I always have way too much Chinese leftovers, so I think it more for a night early in the week.

Fresh tomatoes drizzled with EVOO, fresh basil from my balcony garden, buffallo mozzarella, marinated artichoke hearts and smoked, peppered mackerel. The fish is my new favourite thing. Delicious!

Something easy. For lunch I used up chicken egg rolls, added two chicken nuggets and was surprised how good the sauce was that came with it. I love ginger in sauces, but not too much tomato because of the acid. I ended up putting my serving of snap peas on the parchment and let the turned off oven warm them up. They worked pretty well with the sauce. I need to defrost a piece of steak and make it soon, but not until I load up the dishwasher and have clean George Forman grill plates.

last night, I roasted a broccoli crown and added a bag of thawed out shredded rotisserie chicken toward the end for heating up. I stirred all of that into a box of Kraft dinner. lazy, easy, cheap. checked all the boxes.
tonight is the other half of that lazy meal. 🤷‍♀️

I finally got my takeout tonight, and there's going to be a ton of leftovers. spicy green beans, teriyaki skewers, and rice noodles w/veggies. including the tip, it was $40. I'll be eating this for days.

Last night's locally raised pork chops grilled on the Traeger. For serving, I topped them with locally grown peaches, sauteed baby spinach underneath, and a "cheater" veggie blend from the freezer on the side. For the peach and spinach seasoning, I mimicked the Traeger pork rub. The bite of peach and pork was indescribable. I'm thinking about starting my own YouTube channel or blog....

Sunday night we grilled hot dogs and had them with the leftover corn. We finished off the peach blackberry crisp. It was really good.
Monday night grilling the last steaks from the package. Will probably have over salad.

I finally broke in the Blackstone tonight, discovering just how not level the stand currently is. 🙄 oh well. my breakfast sub still tasted just fine. bacon, egg, cheese, and a pile of grilled veggies.
it wasn't on my radar for tonight, but I noticed a display of the really good baguettes at the bakery when I did my grocery run earlier. plans go out the window when that happens. these aren't baked in-house, but a regional bakery that is fantastic.

I spent a good part of the afternoon reading recipes on the Taste of Home site. Then I settled for a bowl of loaded baked potato soup from Firehouse Subs.
The urge to cook substantial, stick-to-your-ribs food doesn't usually hit until the cool weather starts in about mid-October, but the pictures spoke a thousand words to me... I want pork chops with scalloped potatoes, pot roast, chicken pie with a biscuit topping instead of pie crust, baked spaghetti, hamburger stew, Salisbury steak. The list goes on.

Did you put the 2 wheels on the one end? Mine is level. The top just sits there, but it could be scooted to make it unlevel.
It said not to season with bacon, I did. Then I threw it away. I season all my skillets with bacon or lard.
I was so tired last night didn't scrape it off and should have.
Tonight, shrimp sauteed, baked chicken, rice cooked in vegetable broth, some veggies with it, a package of some seasoning mix. I will likely combine it all in the wok when done.
I told DD while dad is gone we will eat what we like.
Tomorrow night catfish, next night salmon and asparagus. That night will have to fix her something different, and that's ok.

no, mine didn't come with wheels. I just need to reset the adjustable legs. I'd be willing to bet you got the 36", since you've got the family to be cooking for. I got the 22", the 17" just looked too small. I think your stand has to be a lot more solid, just knowing how heavy my unit is.
I used grapeseed oil to season, and also to cook last night. there was also a good puddle of bacon grease by the time I was done cooking.
tonight, I am debating grilling a thick slice of eggplant as a "burger" or using up the last turkey burger from my freezer. idk. those would be tailgate grill cooked, not the griddle.

Anybody have fresh peaches? I'm coveting peach cobbler. Sorry Miss R! I used ours last weekend in a crumble, on top of the above referenced pork chops, and in overnight oats. The rest were sliced frozen, though, if you'd like some.

missrigby I use canned sliced peaches. I could get a large can from Dollar Tree but they only have them certain times of the year. Mrs. something brand.
I made porcupine meat balls in the pressure cooker. My first try in the pressure cooker. They cook and taste way different with venison. I like the recipe because I can get 2 meals plus freeze enough for 2 meals.
I don't like cleaning the pressure cooker.

Fat lot of help any of you are! And I don't want canned peaches. I want fresh peaches.
Pressure cooker? Do you mean an old-fashioned pressure cooker or an instant pot? DD got an IP for her birthday but hasn't used it yet. Is it a PITA to clean? Any parts that can go in the dishwasher?

everything but the lid can go in the dishwasher. my sister said she puts her lid in, but the manual said not to do that.

I have fresh peaches from the farmer's market - I can share @missrigby. I like to eat my fruits as they are.
