I've always tried to cut this line item, but I don't think there's any way to lower mine with two boys. I made a casserole tonight and 75% of it is gone in one meal. If it was just me, it would last the whole week for lunch leftovers. They go through 2 gallons of milk and 4 boxes of cereal a week too. I could save by cutting out my Diet Pepsi habit and I buy a lot of greek yogurt that I could stop doing, but I don't really want to.

Grocery store last night: $231.41. About $30 of that was 3 HBAs and some hootch. We were completely out of chicken, beef, and frozen veggies and I stocked up on canned items. WM this AM: $77.78. HBAs, Easter candy for the neighbor kids and my at home kid aka DH, and a few cleaning supplies. Oh, and water and 2 grocery items plus K-cups and a BD card.
Total for the month thus far: $452.52. Holy cow. And I still want to go to Sam's for a few things. Again, total respect to those of you with children or other dependents.

Oh my, I spent $150 on groceries yesterday. I did not intend to but Big Lots and Krogers had great sales and I stocked up. Like for hubs 2 of the big boxes of raisins with 4 packs in the 2 for about $23 at Sam's. I like their organic milk almost $12 for a gallon and a half. I also bought 2 cases of yogurt for hubs and I, probably $20. I guess batteries were in that so reduce by $30, bought 2 big cards.
So now I'm $535 for the month. But I have stocks of everything. I got 2 bags of shrimp so $40 and 2 pieces of salmon $23. They don't sell much down here. I think the store even emptied their seafood freezer and just sells the processed stuff like fish sticks and all the coated kind of fish or shrimp, will check again. I will not buy frozen wild salmon again though, I don't care for it, only fresh. It was half the price of the fresh, now I know why, but you live and learn. $50 of it was Fresh Thyme, some bell peppers, green beans, specialty breads and crackers, cheese, ground beef. We were out, then tenderloin from Krogers. We are pretty much out of meat, so hope to clean the freezer this week in preparation for buying a bunch of meat, for 2 or 3 months is the plan.
I need to stay out of the grocery stores if I can and only shop from a list for the rest of the month. I have a pantry full and shelving in the basement full, plus all of our home canned goods we are working on plus frozen fruits and corn I put up. I need to use common sense and restraint.

I spent over $100 dollars yesterday and just froze for a moment at the total on the screen. I had the money but I usually spend about $150 a month for food. Luckily there were a few HBP and so about $40 dollars were not actual groceries. But my bill told me I saved 22% with discounts and coupons.

I am needing to make a Costco run sometime this week, probably tomorrow. That will probably be around $150 or so.

CCL asked:
In Iggy aka IG case I'm thinking Hot Body Action and High Blood Pressure - just jokin'
HBA has something to do with health, beauty aids or something like that. I'll have to google walmart slang for HBP
Don't feel bad I had to ask about the HBA the first time I saw it. Now I just see alphabet soup and make up my own interpretation of it till I get over to google Makes for some interesting posts since I have a sick imagination most of the time!!

I just looked it up for fun. Hardest Bitches Alive? Which is true about NoNamePerson and me, but in the context above I meant it more as: "Walmart Supplier Glossary: HBC/HBA. Health and Beauty Care or Health and Beauty Aids products are non-food CPGs associated with looking and feeling good."

Probably $650, so that bill is down at least $150, but the month isn't over. Cable and phone down, I can feel the difference, and our projected light bill will be about $110 down. Nice!

Holy shit! I'm still at less than $50! I wouldn't be up to $600 if there were 10 of me!

$353.80 on food, $80 for other for the two of us thus far this month. Granted, DH does buy extras for his lunches, and the occasional hunk of meat to cook. ETA: I should add a lot of the $353 was to stock up on frozen veggies, canned goods, ground beef and chicken. I also stocked up on items for the camper.

This guy at work made a comment about not having gone to the grocery store since February. I asked what he was eating and he listed all these fast food places. He's way too young for the heart attack he's going to have if he keeps eating that crap.

I am at $292.18 so far for the month, which is doing really well for me. I guess the secret is I am carrying around a coupon from the grocery store to take $5 off a $100 purchase, so ever since I started carrying it around our weekly amount has been under $100.
However, yesterday I also wrote a check to a farmer for $419.85 for 1/4 of a cow. On Saturday there is supposed to be a charge from the butcher to cut it up, which my share should run $75. I should get all the meat Saturday morning, and I have no idea how long it will take to eat it.

We are going to a butcher at an amish place and going to buy meat. But not an actual quarter. But pork, beef, and chicken.

I am trying to figure out how I spent $122 earlier this week. The biggest chunk was I did buy 2 tubes of reef safe sunscreen for our trip in a few weeks. Meat wise, I only bought a package of chicken and bulk sausage.
What is sad was that it was only 4 bags.

I understand that, I can spend $60 for a bag, and get hardly anything. I feel for people with kids trying to feed them.

I have 2 6 oz tubes for 2 of us, for 2 weeks. Not enough.

The Walk of the Penguin Mich Can you use it only for swimming? Use regular lotion when walking around town. There's a beautiful swimming hole in Bermuda that had to be closed to swimming due to sunscreen. Maybe if it gets more popular, the price will come down.

The first week, we will be on a dive boat so really no walking around, just jumping off the boat into the water. Second week is possibly more likely as we will be at a resort, but the resort is on a reef.

I'm at $198 for the month out of a budgeted amount of $200. Will need to spend a little more due to a road trip to Nebraska next Wednesday as I like my travel goodies.

Well it ended up running $549.25 for 180 pounds of beef. My brother in law ordered a lot more of it to be ground up than i anticipated, so I will be spending a bit of time researching good recipes for ground beef. And I got 6 pounds of it sliced to 1/4 inch thick for beef jerky, which should be a nice snack.

We get most of ours in ground beef too. I think my dad brought me 100 pounds or so? It's generally all used up in a year or so.
I make chili, spaghetti, burgers, tacos, a version of stuffed peppers, lasagna and the occasional pot of scratch hamburger helper.
I need to update my totals for April.

$357.37 for April.
Mine includes all cleaning supplies, laundry, paper products, OTC drugs, etc. I dropped $20 the other night on Allegra. It's that time of year when I need to take medicine morning and night.
