My husband is super skinny as well. He's 6' and weighs about 150. Skinny as hell, but strong as hell, too. He's into distance running, cycling, and triathlons. Just did his first trail 50k (plus two miles, the course was long) a couple of weeks ago. He still gets body shamed because he's so skinny. Your hubby is absolutely swoon worthy. Good looking, smart, and kind! I will try Goose’s protein powder and see if I can stomach it. I probably don’t even really need a protein powder. I just got the shakeology because of the marketing that it was full of super nutrients and increases energy. Super nutrients work best if they come straight from the source, without dehydration, chemicals and processing. Fish, berries, nuts, leafy greens, etc.

I debated even joining this thread again, since I've been such a slacker in the past. Maybe this is the year I'll stay accountable.
I'm 5'4"-ish, probably closer to 5'3". I don't need to lose weight. I do need to exercise consistently throughout the year. I do really well with hiking when the weather is warm. My upper body workouts are hit and miss regardless of the weather, and lower body workouts are mostly miss when it's colder. I just bought a workout step (hello 1985!), but I recall not hating it, and it's something I can do in front of the tv in the evening, so maybe it won't be too heinous. I also have hand weights for my upper body. I need to face the fact that I hate the gym and won't go consistently, so I need to just cancel the membership.
My goals for this year are to maintain my weight and consistently exercise/lift weights three days a week. I'll probably add smaller goals, but that's my aim overall.

Are you trying to build muscle, or just slim down?

My first small win for 2019. My DH wanted to get milkshakes. I declined. He's getting one but I passed. We are trying to plan out getting to the gym. Weekdays are hard. I'm up at 5:30am and not home until 5:30pm. Throw in a supposed 8 hours for sleep and there's little time left after any errands, chores and dinner. I had a small win too. We have left over cheesecake from Ny eve, and I haven't had a bite. My husband has been eating it.

I'm carrying an extra 7-10 pounds, but that's winter weight. I'll leave it. You can freeze to death up here without it.

I used to drink Muscle Milk as a between-meals snack, but after a couple of days I couldn't shake the after taste and I couldn't stomach it anymore.
Oh hey, yeah - so I've gotten really bad since I've been unemployed. I've always struggled with junk food, but at least I was working out regularly. Not working has thrown my mental schedule and motivation all out of whack. I'm home more than ever now, so the snacking has gone way up. Add in the holiday junk and it's gotten pretty bad. I'm 5'7" and about 140-145lbs. I have pretty small boobs and weight goes directly to my stomach, so to look good (to me) I should really be a solid size 6. Right now I'd guess I'm between 6-8. Basically, I would like a smaller waistline, more toned arms, and a rounder booty. I had stepped up on Leg Day majorly last year, but I wasn't consistent and lost a big chunk of booty progress. And... well... I just want to feel good again.
I need to return to MFP - it's the only thing that seems to work for me. Today was a mild improvement in the food department, due in part to my having consumed all the junk and not buying any more. I did have seconds of ziti at dinner, but my initial portion was reasonable and the 2nds were half of that. I also ate baby spinach with lite balsamic vinaigrette and a huge helping of broccoli before eating any ziti at all. The sweetest thing I've eaten today was the dessert I just had - unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon. Baby steps.

I am 5'8. I think I'm around 185 at the moment. Last year this time I was 160. I need to clean up my diet and start exercising. I can't believe I put in the hard work to lose 30 pounds last year and then gained it all back (and more). I have lost about 8 pounds in the last couples of months, but I got off track with the holidays. I lost last time by cutting out alcohol pretty much completely. Eating more vegetables and not snacking after dinner. I was also working out at the YMCA several days a week doing different classes, lifting weights, and running. I gave up my YMCA membership after I bought my house. I have access to a gym through my neighborhood country club. They charge an arm and leg for classes that don't fit my schedule. I wanted to join another gym that has free classes, but decided until this summer when I can stop paying the 73 a month for the current membership I will make due with what I have and go 3 times a week. My boyfriend agreed to come up with a new HIIT workout for me every week. He will do it with me once on the weekend, then twice more during the week I will do it alone. If I can keep this up I might look into something like an Orangetheory Fitness. Those run about 180 a month in my area from what I can find out since prices aren't posted anywhere. When I was working out regularly I felt so good. I didn't care about my size (though I was losing anyway) but my mental health was amazing. I had a good mood and energy. I didn't feel like overeating or drinking. Now I just feel depressed and gross and blah. No motivation to do anything and it seeps in all areas of my life - work, education, hobbies, pets, housekeeping. I'm too heavy and out of shape to just start running again. I think I'll just focus on exercise 3 days a week (told the boyfriend no box jumping or burpees until I'm down 10-15), and maybe daily dog walks. Diet changes will be cutting alcohol and upping my vegetables. I find focusing on getting 5-7 servings of veggies a day and 1-3 fruits means that there isn't room left for junk food, and I don't feel as deprived. I'm hoping this thread helps keep me accountable too. That and my fitbit. Check out Peloton Digital. I keep seeing commercials about it and went to the app to look around. It's $20/month and there are live classes and classes on demand. And you don't have to buy a Peloton. You can stream the classes on any device. I didn't get it because I'm already paying my gym membership and am not giving it up. But the app said that if you sign up by the end of the month that you get 2 months free. There was a lot of variety in the classes from what I saw. I may just sign up for the free months to see if I use it. I go to the gym all the time as it is, so I didn't really see paying for that too,but you never know. I have seen the commercials and it does look interesting, but I'm not sure if i would work as hard if I were doing the class online where I know there isn't shame of quitting in front of people, lol.

I've used the Optimum Nutrition vanilla before because my boyfriend always has a tub of it at my place too. He cautioned me against using cheap protein powders, but I do like the Premier Protein premade chocolate shakes and keep some at home and work for when I don't have time to eat. They have 30 grams protein for 160 calories and only 1 gram of sugar. At Sams Club I can get a dozen for 15 bucks.

I lurched into the 2018 Let's Get Fit thread in like, December, so I vowed to show up earlier this year.
So, I'm 60 but feel about 40. I started 2018 at 151 lb and ended it at 141 (I'm 5'2"). I would be happy to get my BMI down into normal range and achieve a size 8, so EOY 2019 at 131 would be nice. Better cholesterol and blood sugar values would be nice too.
Numbers on spreadsheets soothe my anxious soul - I track weight losses, miles run, etc. I do a calorie check every couple of days to make sure my eating is not getting out of hand. If I stay below my basic metabolic requirements, weight should be coming off at a leisurely pace of 2-3 lbs/month. (With the exception of the past two holiday weeks, yeesh).
My plan is to train for a 10k by running long and slow, so today I ran 4.25 miles in one hour. When I get up to 5 miles all in a row without stopping, it will be a first in my life. A 10k is 6.2 miles.
I will also do more strength training - lunges with weights, dumbbell reps and Iyengar yoga.
And stop eating all those tortilla chips!

The periods of time where I haven't been working seemed to be the hardest to form a consistent schedule. I think the worst thing is a lack of motivation. In part you do feel like since you could go at pretty much any time you will just do it later, and then later never comes. Whereas when you are working and busy you just don't think about it and do it. Baby steps are key. You always hear that, but when you want to lose weight it feels better to try all this ridiculous restriction and overexercising to get fast results. Thing is that has never lasted for me. I'm trying to go about it differently this year. Thinking of all the years I was like a crazy person, but didn't sustain the results. I'm trying to only do things now that I will do forever.

I'm trying to only do things now that I will do forever. yes, exactly! I have to cut way back on the stuff that I love but makes me feel crappy (sweets and fried foods) and increase the filling and more healthy things that will help me enjoy my workouts again. I'm having skin issues (patches of welts and redness/itchiness) and found out in November that I might have a heart issue. I got a full ECG and am awaiting the results. In the meantime, I need to seriously increase my intake of anti-inflammatory foods. I'm trying to take a "less is better" approach regarding what's in the food I'm eating. I will never eat completely whole foods 24/7, but I want to eat as much whole food as possible or at least make the vast majority of what I eat. I already do some of that - oatmeal is quick oats, a sliced banana or blueberries, flaxseed, and honey. Yogurt is plain Greek yogurt with a banana and/or peanut butter and honey. Honey is sugar, but at least it's not refined sugar and I can control how much is in my food.

I had originally joined this 2013 I think; however, I stopped focusing on it sometime afterwards when we were moving. Since that time, we've moved a couple of other times and now we are settled. During that time, I've also had 4 miscarriages in the past 2 years. We also have a 7 year old DD.
Basically, I'm 5'1" and weigh 147.6 pounds. I HATE MY SCALE and have for a while. I've started and stopped different ways of eating for the past few years. The latest time I stopped was 2 months ago after I experienced the 4th miscarriage and a former best friend died of ovarian cancer before she turned 40 (both happened the same week, miscarried on Monday, former best friend died Wednesday night and I found out on Thursday morning). Shortly after that was Thanksgiving then Christmas so it wasn't a good time to start anything (because I also like to eat - hence my problem). (FWIW, my miscarriages all happened before I reach 8 weeks.)
Anyway, the latest way of eating I had actually liked and did lose a few pounds (before I gained them back). I followed the 2B Mindset (biggest things are to drink at least half your weight in ounces of water, and eat lots of veggies) and I did like it. It has a video series to watch/listen to and I've just started the videos today (even thought I purchase it about 7 months ago...). Anyway, I've semi-started it today, but hope to be more full-fledged by Sunday or Monday. Ideally, I would like to get down to at least my pre-pregnancy weight of 132 pounds (when I got pregnant with DD), but my ultimate goal is 125-127 pounds.

Taz - have you had any testing done? I had two miscarriages in a row before getting pregnant with my twins. During my first ultrasound with twins they were able to see that I have a septate uterus or something like that. Is a malformation of the uterus and if an embryo implants in the malformed area they won’t get enough blood flow to make it past 8 weeks or so. I lost both of mine during week 7. Thankfully it didn’t cause me any problems with my twin pregnancy, but if id wanted more kids I likely would’ve had surgery first to decrease the chance of it being an issue again. It doesn’t cause any other problems though, so you’d never know you have it. Usually you can’t even see it unless you do one of those special ultrasounds where they put something in you to show better contrast. Anyway, I feel for you and just wonder if it’s a similar issue since you lost yours around the same time I was losing mine. I’ve done really well sticking with my intermittent fasting and whole food diet the last two days. I also exercised both days. Off to a good start

I have done better the last couple of weeks with taking something to work to eat for breakfast/lunch and cooking something at home for dinner. Before now I typically wouldn’t eat at work, then would be starving at night and not want to cook, just eat all the things right now! I’m also trying to be more mindful of portions and eating out of boredom. That’s been a big part of my downfall in the evenings.
I did unearth the treadmill and took a short jaunt on it yesterday. I’ve decided I’ll try to do some form of exercise every other day, whether it’s the treadmill, rowing machine or yoga.

I had a small win last evening. I did not snack after dinner.
My weight is about the same as last year.

I'm towards the end of a monster period so I knew when I weighed yesterday there would be water retention. Today I am down 2.2 pounds so my starting weight is probably actually closer to todays 187.6. Yesterday I got 64 ounces of water and stuck to my plan until around 10pm when I ate a bunch of ice cream. I had planned chocolate but only had 1 square left so I got a bowl of ice cream. Then later I had another bowl I'm not counting it as a total loss as I tried talking myself into eating a bunch of stuff I didn't want or need and I resisted.

I keep forgetting to weigh and post it here. I don't know what I weigh as I never look. It's probably in the neighborhood of 170. It seems like a lot for my 5'2" frame, but it's all muscle. Well, except for the loose skin around my tummy that needs to be removed. Which reminds me, I need to try and get a consult for that in soon.

I am 5'7", weigh about 166 (could be closer to 170). I am 50 soon to be 51. I'm completely disappointed in my physical health. Thankfully my mental health is good, but I could see that changing if I don't make positive changes on the physical side. My goal for 2019 is to move more. There is absolutely no reason for me to sit on the couch for 2 hours every night mindlessly watching TV. Right now I am committing to 30 minutes on the treadmill 5 days a week. If I do it 7 days because we don't have much going on - that is a bonus. This goal is completely doable based on time - it's the motivation that is the problem.
My DH is 5'9", weighs about 210 - he is very overweight (stomach area) but has informed me he has no desire to lose weight, even though he complains about it. That is on him. I will not let him bring be down. I have plenty of good food in the house - he brings in the soda, beer, Doritos - I do not buy it.
I will weigh myself tonight to I have an actual starting number. I would be thrilled with losing 20 lbs. I know it is going to be a struggle because I eat way too much. But small changes can turn into big changes.

I need to lose 5 pounds. Several times. I can’t lose the big number, I’ve tried and I drop a couple then give up. So I’m out to move more so I’m not winded every time DD wants me to chase her around the yard. And get rid of 5 pounds. We have a recumbent exercise bike that I’m going back to next week when the Christmas tree is gone. The bike only plugs in where the tree is now.

I might have had too much chili for lunch (at least it was homemade!). However, my work friend and I just took a (super chilly) walk. We decided that this year we'd do 2 laps instead of our usual 1, so about 30 minutes. We use part of our lunch break for it. Sometimes. Sometimes I just need a break and we go out at random times. I love having a job that is flexible enough to do this. I should just do it more consistently!

I really want to get my arms toned way up and am considering adding a gym day for a total of 5. This day would primarily focus on arms. Is that crazy?

I'm 5'6" with a small frame and this morning weighed in at 136.9. I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 120. On my frame anything over that weight is just loose flab around my stomach and heavy thighs. A couple of years ago I got back there by following a mostly paleo diet. One problem I have is my oncologist (I am fortunate not to have cancer but see one regularly for breast checks because my mother died of breast cancer at 48) told me to eat less meat but also not to gain weight . I've been off work for a couple of weeks over Christmas but go back on Monday, which should help. I need to go back to regularly walking during the day and running 2-3 times a week. I just turned 45 and my gynecologist told me that it's now an uphill battle against my metabolism. The fact that I used to be able to eat and drink whatever I wanted without gaining weight is no longer a reality.

So, I weighed myself - this morning - since you weigh less in the mornings right?? 158.5 - I was pleasantly surprised - I thought for sure I was in the mid-160's (because I have been there). So, that will be my starting point. And since I was under 160 - I ate a donut this morning at work - it was a small one and totally worth it. Walked on the treadmill last night for 25 minutes - 3.7 pace and hills. It felt good. I also didn't sit on the couch until 7:45 - I go to bed at 9:00 and read for 30-45 minutes. That was a success too. There have been times I am camped out on the couch by 6:30.

I’ve done really well sticking with my intermittent fasting and whole food diet the last two days. I also exercised both days. Off to a good start [img src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/smile.gif" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png" class="smile"] I've been thinking about intermittent fasting. The podcast I listen to has a host that drinks coffee with MCT oil and butter and a little splenda or stevia or something. I got some MCT oil by brain octane because they say it gives you a lot of energy and blunts your appetite for several hours. It seemed to be true for me. I didn't care for the coffee with butter and the oil (even at the small amount of 1 TSP I use compared the the 1 TBL that they say you can have) but I don't mind the oil with just full fat half and half. I use a milk frother to blend the oil into the coffee. Supposedly just having fat doesn't break the fasting process. I guess the fake sugar doesn't trigger whatever response real sugar does in the body. How do you like fasting? How big of a window do you have for eating? I see some big extremes with some folks just eating one big meal a day and others doing a 6-9 hour window where they eat.
