Hi everyone. It is with sadness that I start this thread. Our dear Jaguar/Sugi was its originator. I miss her.

I’m 5’4” with a small frame. My current weight is 152lbs. Since mid-2015, I’ve put on 15-20lbs. I have heartburn almost every day. My clothes don’t fit. I’m lethargic every evening.
I know I’m over-eating. I have a massive sugar addiction. I’m ready to do something about it.

Thanks for starting the thread. I really need to get back here and participate. I did so good the first quarter of last year, then eventually let everything slide. I’m completely lethargic and uninterested in doing anything. My food consumption could be better too. I’m generally good about not buying junk, but when I do it’s not pretty.
I was reading someone’s blog where they wrote that they were in a similar pattern and what helped them is to track their activity and calories and just try to do 1% better in the current week than they did in the prior week. I might be able to handle that. I tend to be all or nothing and have rigid schedules and goals that aren’t sustainable long term. This might work better for me. 1% isn’t much, but it adds up over the year and is a gentler way to ease into change.

Thanks for starting the thread Knee Deep in Water Chloe. I have not decided what my goals will be for 2019. I know I have to lose weight. I know that better eating and less adult beverages along with a variety of exercise is the key. I am thinking of setting my step goal for the year at 3,700,000 steps. (As of this morning I have over 3,800,000. I will no longer have the motivation to get 10000 a day in as my the wellness program at work went away.

I am 5'8. I think I'm around 185 at the moment. Last year this time I was 160. I need to clean up my diet and start exercising. I can't believe I put in the hard work to lose 30 pounds last year and then gained it all back (and more). I have lost about 8 pounds in the last couples of months, but I got off track with the holidays. I lost last time by cutting out alcohol pretty much completely. Eating more vegetables and not snacking after dinner. I was also working out at the YMCA several days a week doing different classes, lifting weights, and running.
I gave up my YMCA membership after I bought my house. I have access to a gym through my neighborhood country club. They charge an arm and leg for classes that don't fit my schedule. I wanted to join another gym that has free classes, but decided until this summer when I can stop paying the 73 a month for the current membership I will make due with what I have and go 3 times a week. My boyfriend agreed to come up with a new HIIT workout for me every week. He will do it with me once on the weekend, then twice more during the week I will do it alone. If I can keep this up I might look into something like an Orangetheory Fitness. Those run about 180 a month in my area from what I can find out since prices aren't posted anywhere.
When I was working out regularly I felt so good. I didn't care about my size (though I was losing anyway) but my mental health was amazing. I had a good mood and energy. I didn't feel like overeating or drinking. Now I just feel depressed and gross and blah. No motivation to do anything and it seeps in all areas of my life - work, education, hobbies, pets, housekeeping.
I'm too heavy and out of shape to just start running again. I think I'll just focus on exercise 3 days a week (told the boyfriend no box jumping or burpees until I'm down 10-15), and maybe daily dog walks. Diet changes will be cutting alcohol and upping my vegetables. I find focusing on getting 5-7 servings of veggies a day and 1-3 fruits means that there isn't room left for junk food, and I don't feel as deprived.
I'm hoping this thread helps keep me accountable too. That and my fitbit.

Chloe, thanks for starting. Sad that Sugi isn't here with us this year.
Im continuing to back burner this until I find a new job and get out of Physical therapy. PT at least keeps me active 3x/week.

hugs, Knee Deep in Water Chloe. thanks for starting this. I'm also not quite ready to step up, new job starts 1/21. I still have a very awkward conversation (where I resign from the current train wreck) staring me in the face this coming Friday. I'll be there til the 31st, when I fly out for my annual music cruise. I'm going to do my best to clean up my act at least food-wise between now and then. but, since I don't know whether I am getting walked out after resigning - a distinct possibility -in which case I'll have two weeks free to walk miles and miles a day with the pups, or I have to sit at my desk for two more weeks and look like I'm working......anyway, I don't really have a normal right now, and I will have a new normal very soon. my goals for 2019 are to "declutter" the weight I've accumulated the 2nd half of 2018, to move more, and to drink significantly less than I have been as I realized how much of a train wreck the new job was. I have already cut back a lot since accepting an offer, as there's now a light at the end of the tunnel, but I think a bit of it now is "PARTY! what are they going to do, fire me?"

I would like to participate. I'm 5'2". I've lost 41 lbs (18.6 kilos) since June. I went from 176 lbs (80 kilos, slightly obese) to 135 lbs (61.5 kilos, high normal weight). I gained 2 lbs (1 kilo) over the holidays. Now I want to lose the last 5 lbs (2.5 kilos). DS3 (college student) is here till Sunday, which means I can't be as strict as I would.
My goal weight is 132 lbs (60 kilos). I do a lot of walking/running around as a teacher but I don't really exercise except for walking. I'm American but at this point I think in kilos, so I'll use both measures. I stopped being strict keto after 5 months because it was too restrictive. This said, I DO plan to go back on strict keto till I reach my goal weight. It's super strict, but it really works.
ETA: I've gone from a US size 12 (French size 44) to a US size 8 (French size 40).

I’m 5’0 and I think I’m around the high 120’s mark. I need to lose ten more. I lost ten from last Dr appt but they weigh you with clothes on and last time I was there it was cold so I had more on. I’m looking into Mediterranean diet and only eating something with a face once a day.

For the past few years, I've found it very helpful to record my weight in a list. I do it in notes on my ipad. This year I'm doing a seperate list, recording my exercise. Other than walking everyday, that's where I lack.

I weigh myself every morning nekked. I bought a scale in July. (Old one was dead). It was cheap on Amazon but it doesn't talk.

I need a scale at home. Although I do use the scale at the hospital and that’s probably more accurate. Plus I wear the same thing pretty much. I tried using the ones at the VA......weight would vary 4-5# per day, so I finally gave up.

My Dr. wants my A1C to get lower....even though it's below 6 and has been at 5.7 for a year, she said it's time for a change. I'm walking 3 sets of 10 minutes each. I know that's not much but its what my hip will put up with right now. If I'm able to get some of this weight off, it might help.
In the meantime, its a cautionary diabetic diet plan for me.....lots of veggies, protein, fruits in moderation, lots of water and walking.

I would like to join this thread as well. 2018 sucked and I picked up an old bad habit that I am slowly breaking. As of today, I haven't smoked in 24 hours. I would also like to lose about 13 pounds. I am 5'2" and currently weigh 138. I have lost 10 pounds in the past year, and I just need to lose a little more.
I would also like to continue to focus on keeping my mental health in check. 2018 was just a year of constant, massive anxiety attacks. I currently have them under control, and I would like to keep it that way.

My eating has been ridiculous lately. First, b/c of my migraines and the first preventative med we tried. It killed my appetite and all I wanted/could tolerate was carbs. Then I switched meds and now my normal appetite is back, but I didn’t go back to my semi-healthy diet quickly. Finally, the holidays showed up, and I’ve eaten SO MUCH CRAP! Desserts, Chex mix, desserts, carbs.
I’ve been off work the last 2 weeks, and I’m looking forward to going back tomorrow so that I can get back on a normal eating routine.

I mentioned wanting to lose 19 pounds in '19 on the decluttering thread. I'm working full-time now, so some things will be easier, and some harder. I had developed a few bad habits and gained 5-10 pounds last year (depending on the day/starting point). I also started drinking more than my single small (sample-size) glass of wine every day, and I really need to stop that. Too many calories in alcohol. I haven't been weighing everyday, so I'm not sure exactly where I'm at this morning. I'll do that soon.

I really should join this thread. Since our move, I've been getting back to walking every day. Unfortunately, we threw out our scale before the move, so I don't have one right now. (But, was surprised to discover that one of our local grocery stores actually has one on their sales floor, so I stepped onto it, & was pleased to see I'd lost 5-6 pounds since our move.) I actually looked at some scales while shopping this week, but don't know if I'd want one of those "smart" scales that keeps track of your weight for you. (Like I need a reminder if I go up a few pounds?)

This week, starting with Monday 12/31, my plan is for ~No more than 11,000 calories consumed ~91,000 steps ~4 days of intentional cardio ~60 minutes of yoga ~2 days of arms

Like debthaven, I'm 5'2" and have lost over 40 pounds in the past year and a half. About half of it was by intermittent fasting, the other half by managed low-carb (under 50 g, mostly under 40 g). Now I'm at 132 and happy to stay here. I did up my carb eating to see if it helped with my depression, which is my ongoing health challenge. It has helped some, maybe. I want to maintain and improve strength and flexibility. Losing a bit more weight would be great but not a big goal right now.

Hello id like to join in here, but I don’t know if I’ll be consistent about posting. I’m 5’2” with a petite frame and currently weigh about 160. I want to lose 40 pounds. My strategies starting today are intermittent fasting, exercise goal of at least 200 workouts this year, and Whole Foods only for the month of January. I really binged over the holidays and need a reset. I already completed 45 minutes on the exercise bike this morning. I’m going to ease into exercise and not push too hard right now. Just trying to build a habit of doing something most days.

I also got a cheap scale. It measures body fat, but I think it was only $20 at Aldi when I bought it.

I mentioned on the declutter thread that I too want to lose weight this year. I don't want to say my weight on here, but I will be weighing myself 2x a week and will post my progress on here. I weighed myself yesterday and I weighed 7 pounds less than I thought I did so that was a nice surprise. I wanted to lose 37 pounds this year because I'll be 37 in March. I worked out this morning, cardio, and I too want to get in the habit again.

I forgot the most important thing I did to get my anxiety under control! I resigned from a horrible job! The job was destroying me. Resigning was the best thing I did for me and my family.

My first small win for 2019. My DH wanted to get milkshakes. I declined. He's getting one but I passed.
We are trying to plan out getting to the gym. Weekdays are hard. I'm up at 5:30am and not home until 5:30pm. Throw in a supposed 8 hours for sleep and there's little time left after any errands, chores and dinner.
