My first small win for 2019. My DH wanted to get milkshakes. I declined. He's getting one but I passed. We are trying to plan out getting to the gym. Weekdays are hard. I'm up at 5:30am and not home until 5:30pm. Throw in a supposed 8 hours for sleep and there's little time left after any errands, chores and dinner. The first part is super hard for me. It’s almost like I feel rude by declining. Good job! The second part, we accepted that we needed to schedule rest days on weekdays. So, could two weekdays be rest/errand days and three weekdays be gym days?

I have talked about losing weight for quite sometime. Over 15 years ago I got to 215, lost to 170, but was exercising daily and practically starving so could not maintain at that level. I did at about 179 for many many years. I used to be 5' 9 1/4 ", we measured this morning, I'm only about 5' 7 1/4". I have degenerative disk disease and osteoarthritis, plus my extremely flat feet issue. I'm sure all of this has caused me to lose height, not good at all. I weigh between 183 and 184 right now. I seriously need this weight off for my feet to do better and just for my overall health. 170 would be ok, but I wish I could get to 160 just for overall health.
I have been thinking of Weight Watchers, I know what we need to eat but implementing it is not an easy task.
By the way, I just found out I like pistachios! Have never eaten any before very good.
So I'm thinking of getting a Weight Watchers cookbook and joining. I know a Mediterranean diet is what we need. Wish we could get a lot of good seafood here. I need to lower my LDL cholesterol the HDL and triglycerides are good. But LDL is 140, I have tried 2 statin drugs and a cholesterol drug with no success, the pain makes me give up in 2 or 3 weeks.
So looks like my goals are reduce LDL cholesterol. And now it appears I'm 30 pounds overweight with so much height loss. How in the world can I maintain a weight of about 160? Also the big issue is trying to exercise with foot issues, that is what has caused me not to be able to exercise like I want for over a year. I will try and see what happens, have to start somewhere, first is order my cookbook, hope I can get my family to eat a lot of this.

Okay so I weighed in at 189.8 this morning. That gives me almost 30 pounds to lose to get back to 160. At 170 I will reevaluate my final goal weight. Since I am tall it takes more pounds for me to go down a size. Even at 160 I'm about a size 10 in pants. I'm in loose 14s now. Probably will take 10-15 pounds to get me comfortably in my 12s again. I just don't know that I want to do the work to be any smaller. I like to eat

I have been doing really well not eating out and just cooking at home. I haven't been doing a lot of cooking at home because I just have not been inspired. I have been trying new recipes I ordered through Home Chef. So far I like them.
I have not smoked since December 31. That is good! When I quit many years ago, it wasn't this hard. I think it is harder this time because of the stress I was under this year. But, I plan on sticking to the no smoking rule!
I really need to decide on some type of exercises to do. I think that will help me feel better, but I just really hate most exercises. I need to weigh myself today as well.....

I forgot to weigh myself this morning, but it's fine. I don't need to know the exact number. I was already ticking up a couple lbs before xmas and the rest, and I put on another 5 or so of bloat over the past couple weeks. I'm finishing leftovers, and then getting back in the habit of having large leafy green salads more often than not. I actually like that, but the holidays just come with such dense, rich foods that I can't say no to.

I wasn't super active on the 2018 thread, but I had a decent year. I lost 15 pounds (4 of which I gained back over the holidays, but I'm not sweating that). Goal for 2019 is to get down to 140 (I was at 156 this morning) before trying for baby #2. I joined a 6 month diet bet where the goal is to lose 10% of your body weight over that period, which will about put me there.
ETA: I say I am 5'3", but I'm really closer to 5'2", so ideally I'd like to be in the 120's. Just trying to be realistic.
Goal this week is to meet my move goal on apple watch every day, weigh in daily, and eat a healthy salad every day.

I would like to join this thread as well. 2018 sucked and I picked up an old bad habit that I am slowly breaking. As of today, I haven't smoked in 24 hours. I would also like to lose about 13 pounds. I am 5'2" and currently weigh 138. I have lost 10 pounds in the past year, and I just need to lose a little more. I would also like to continue to focus on keeping my mental health in check. 2018 was just a year of constant, massive anxiety attacks. I currently have them under control, and I would like to keep it that way. I've gotten super into Barre3 in the past couple of months. I love it! It's challenging but accessible. It's low impact, which is what I need right now with the hip. I feel fantastic mentally and physically after a workout. I subscribe to the online streaming for $29/month, but you should be able to find some workouts on YouTube to try for free.

We had a retirement party for someone at work today. There was cake, cookies, muffins, punch. But also fruit and veggie and cheese trays. I'm happy to report that I managed to limit myself to 4 cubes of cheese, some grapes, and some watermelon. Partly b/c I wasn't super hungry at 10am, but regardless, I managed to avoid the temptation of cake! This will never happen again, I'm sure, so I'm going to be proud of myself for this right now. haha.

My fitness goals for 2019: *Accept that I'm not a runner anymore *Stick with a fitness routine. I've been doing great with my B3 exercises for the month of December and I hope that sticks. *Remember that fried things make you feel icky now. *Get back to being a consistent size 8. I'm an 8/10 now, which is fine, but I can do better.
My lowest weight was 143 back in 2013. I gained 10 pounds after getting my Mirena in 2014 (~5 lb) and stopping running in 2016 and not coming up with a new (and consistent) exercise routine. Anything under 150 lb is fine by me. At this point the number is just a mental thing. The only thing that truly matters is how I feel and how my clothes fit.
ETA: For the record I am 5'5" and weight 154.

We just had it taken out finally, and she is hoping to lose the weight. She has always been really tiny, and on her 4'10" frame, the 50 pound weight gain really shows. I will have to look into that exercise routine. Hopefully, I can find something I enjoy.

I weighed in today at 189 and I'm 6'3", so not really looking to lose weight but just get a little tightened up. In 2018, I dropped 20 pounds through mostly running but didn't do any weight training. This year, I'm going to do an equal balance between running, weight training, and mobility. Running maybe 2-3 days a week, weight training 3 days, mobility on days that I run.
Now that I've crossed 40, I'm working on things that will help with feeling better as I get older so a lot of my goals are not aestetic, but more functional. Better flexiblity, not crazy strength but enough strength, and better cardiovascular endurance.
I think my diet is pretty decent. A few years ago I just completely eliminated the worst of the worst for me, fast food, fried foods, and most sugary foods. Last year I increased my water, increased veggies, and cut down carbs a little.

I won't complain about the five pound gain! Yeah, it has been awful for her. Her doctor finally conceded that just maybe she was super sensitive to the hormones. It doesn't help that she loves food and hates exercise, but she has always been like that, and didn't put on the weight until after the Mirena.

I am 5'8. I think I'm around 185 at the moment. Last year this time I was 160. I need to clean up my diet and start exercising. I can't believe I put in the hard work to lose 30 pounds last year and then gained it all back (and more). I have lost about 8 pounds in the last couples of months, but I got off track with the holidays. I lost last time by cutting out alcohol pretty much completely. Eating more vegetables and not snacking after dinner. I was also working out at the YMCA several days a week doing different classes, lifting weights, and running. I gave up my YMCA membership after I bought my house. I have access to a gym through my neighborhood country club. They charge an arm and leg for classes that don't fit my schedule. I wanted to join another gym that has free classes, but decided until this summer when I can stop paying the 73 a month for the current membership I will make due with what I have and go 3 times a week. My boyfriend agreed to come up with a new HIIT workout for me every week. He will do it with me once on the weekend, then twice more during the week I will do it alone. If I can keep this up I might look into something like an Orangetheory Fitness. Those run about 180 a month in my area from what I can find out since prices aren't posted anywhere. When I was working out regularly I felt so good. I didn't care about my size (though I was losing anyway) but my mental health was amazing. I had a good mood and energy. I didn't feel like overeating or drinking. Now I just feel depressed and gross and blah. No motivation to do anything and it seeps in all areas of my life - work, education, hobbies, pets, housekeeping. I'm too heavy and out of shape to just start running again. I think I'll just focus on exercise 3 days a week (told the boyfriend no box jumping or burpees until I'm down 10-15), and maybe daily dog walks. Diet changes will be cutting alcohol and upping my vegetables. I find focusing on getting 5-7 servings of veggies a day and 1-3 fruits means that there isn't room left for junk food, and I don't feel as deprived. I'm hoping this thread helps keep me accountable too. That and my fitbit. Check out Peloton Digital. I keep seeing commercials about it and went to the app to look around. It's $20/month and there are live classes and classes on demand. And you don't have to buy a Peloton. You can stream the classes on any device. I didn't get it because I'm already paying my gym membership and am not giving it up. But the app said that if you sign up by the end of the month that you get 2 months free. There was a lot of variety in the classes from what I saw. I may just sign up for the free months to see if I use it. I go to the gym all the time as it is, so I didn't really see paying for that too,but you never know.

I am drinking my chocolate shakeology shake. (I am not a coach, I do not sell it). When I drink it, it does make me feel healthier and have more energy. I hate the price though.

I'd probably invest your money elsewhere. I buy a big bag of protein powder for $45 at costco that will give you 80 servings. I mix it with almond milk and half a banana. If I'm not mistaken, Shakeology is about the same (calorie wise) with less protein and more sugar. I know they claim to throw it other supplements, but now you're kind of getting into the .01% that probably is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I'd take the $100/month you'd save in shakes and buy some exercise equipment.

My husband uses Vega protein powder, not sure what one. He likes it. I don't partake. He's also a super skinny dude with a fast metabolism and is always whining about being hungry, so he has it with his breakfast. He does notice a difference in how he feels when he runs out and doesn't have any.

I do the same with chocolate protein powder, almond milk, and a banana. It's one of my faves. I keep saying that I'm going to make ice cream out of it. It freezes well. I just need to do it. It's much cheaper than Halo Top (I think that's what it's called) ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant so I can't eat regular ice cream unless I have a death wish.
You could do the same with vanilla protein powder and berries. So good!
ETA: Even Thing 1 likes it and all she eats is crap unless I cooked it for her.

All 2 of the protein powders I tried had a weird aftertaste (no, don't recall which brands). I still have some left of one, I need to use it up some way or other.

DS lives on protein powder he buys at the gym. It smells awful. I keep trying to encourage him to eat real protein, like eggs, cheese and meat. He looks like a holocaust survivor, with AIDS. So, so skinny. Always has been. He's about six feet tall and weighs around 145 pounds.

Your hubby is absolutely swoon worthy. Good looking, smart, and kind! I will try Goose’s protein powder and see if I can stomach it. I probably don’t even really need a protein powder. I just got the shakeology because of the marketing that it was full of super nutrients and increases energy.

I don't do shakes but for those of you who are trying to lose weight (because Ryan isn't) know that you can replace the banana with either berries or melon. imanangel you might also like one of my go-to light meals, a full-fat plain Greek yoghurt with some berries/melon.

When I was transitioning away from the packaged protein shakes, I used to do the same combination (almond milk, protein, banana) and would add an oreo cookie. THAT actually tasted really good. At first I felt a little funny, but a buddy told me that's essentially what these packaged proteins are doing anyways. They are adding stuff to make it taste better, which is why Shakeology has like 6 grams of sugar. Eventually, I cut the oreo in half and then got rid of it altogether.
