I decided to extend my fast food ban through lent. I tend to eat it on the weekends on my way to work as I don't usually have time to eat at home. This morning I had turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, and an avocado. All protein no carbs. Let's see if I can keep it going.

I need to get better at tracking everyday. I know the last week has been better portion wise. I was going back to low-ish carb (about 100 a day, mostly from veggies, 1 fruit a day, and a sweet), and then caved trying to catch up on homework last weekend. Final is due tomorrow so we'll see if I can finish it, pass, and eat even remotely decently. Somehow it seems to be only 2 out of 3 is possible.
Most importantly I graded in unarmed! Now I have 2 mon on my gray belt. One of the sensei's was grading last night too. She started there when she was 8 and is my sons favorite instructor. I love when I get to work with her. We got to talk a bit about how different it is to start as a child vs. An adult - especially an adult woman who has no martial arts or fighting experience. I'm so proud of myself, but also feel like a complete imposter since there is so much that I don't know or am just barely beginning to grasp that others walk in having done for years. But its not about others, its about your own growth, trying, learning, failing, and trying more. Oh, and my homework is to practice joint manipulations on dh and tell him to try to escape. Might just be the motivation he needs to get his butt back to class. *evil laugh*

Weekly check in Struggled with eating too much over the weekend. Did 5 minutes of strength training.
Hit step goal by over 8000.
Best thing was doctor's appointment. My fasting blood sugar came down to an acceptable number, my A1C was acceptable and my weight was down 4 pounds according to the doctor's scale.
Goal for the week 80000 steps. Try to drink water or decaffeinated tea when the urge to eat hits. 30 minutes of strength training.

I'm not sure yet what damage I did this long weekend. my friend and I drank our way around PGH, but most of it was walking and there wasn't a lot of food involved. I was well over 10k steps on my phone the day we did the Carnegie museums, and my phone doesn't reliably track indoor steps. so there's that.
I'm flying home this am, will wait to report back until tomorrow am when I step on the scale.

We hosted our annual party on Saturday (hubs get a ham from his employer at Christmas time so we use it as an excuse to have a party). I didn't drink any beer, just stuck to red wine and grapefruit seltzer for my alcoholic beverages. My eating wasn't the best but it was all delicious! Aside from ham (which I don't eat) we made scalloped potatoes, mac and cheese, and roasted green beans and brussels sprouts.
My exercise on Saturday was cleaning the house and yesterday I did a 40 minute barre3 video. Today I am hoping I'm not too tired to go for a walk after work. Walking at lunch with a buddy to get tahina shakes and falafel salads.

I survived the first trip to the gym in a long time. I don't think I pushed too hard. Funny enough I got the quarterly mailing from the insurance company today about asthma. It included not working out while sick. I didn't push it so I was fine.

I got up at the crack of dawn to get my work out in. I'm extra glad I did it now, as my head is hurting today. I haven't had a full blown headache in months, so it's really throwing me for a loop. Thank god work is super quiet.
It's also sunny today, so I'm thinking of going out for salad at lunch. I shouldn't spend the money, but at least I'm aiming for healthy.

scale said 207 this am, so that's probably some salt bloat from the weekend. will work on that the next few days, lots of water and minimal salt in what I cook. have a prepared pasta portion for lunch, not ideal, planning for a salad for dinner. I'll likely add baked fish for protein.
it was light out here until almost 7pm last night. low 40s for a high today, dipping tomorrow, and working up to low 50s by the weekend. I will definitely be able to take the pups for canal walks when I get home from work now. come on, summer!

I'm excited for the dog park. My babies need to get out and run now that it's not so cold. They're probably pretty ready.

Went on a 30 minute walk with hubs last night. As fast a runner as he is, he's a slow Walker. But I guess it was nice to walk and chat, lol. I plan on doing a barre3 video when I log off work today.
Lunch is leftovers from last night's dinner (brown rice, sauteed onion and red pepper, black beans, Gardein chikn strips, salsa, and hot sauce). Dinner will be a piece of flounder and broccoli.

I'm going to try making fish tacos tonight since I didn't thaw anything out and fish defrosts in a minute basically. I made pico de gallo and guacamole the other day as well as rice to go with them. We've been eating various tacos since then.

Gym day 2 this week in the books. It would have been easy to not go but we went. Not as crowded tonight.
Added a few more weight things. Did more treadmill time. No elliptical today. I'll get that in Friday.

I was just going to use tilapia since I always have it on hand. I wish I lived somewhere I could get fresh fish. I would experiment so much. Alas, I have to settle for my frozen bag of tilapia from Sam's.

ya know, I don't think I've had tilapia since moving to the beach. I've been eating a lot of cod lately, since that's day boat stuff. sorry to rub it in.
do you fry your fish? I need it to be a little warmer to bring the fryer up from the basement. I won't use it in the house, even with the kitchen window open, the smell of fries lingered a couple days. definitely not doing fish indoors!

It doesn't always work since I love fried chicken! I just cook it on a skillet with a little olive oil. Both girls love fried catfish, so I make that a few times a year. Now I want catfish. I'm going to have to see when Thing 2 is free and do that.

I downloaded the "Lose It" app last week. It is free, but there are additional features you can access if you want to pay a fee. I don't know the cost because I am not interested in the additional features at this time. Right now I can input my goal of how much I want to lose, track calories each day as well as exercise. I started it last Thursday. Friday I didn't log - I already knew I ate too much because I went to see Captain Marvel and had a large popcorn w/ my son. Then in the evening I went out for drinks and appetizers. Saturday and Sunday I logged my food and exercise. I know I eat a lot, that is the main reason I wanted to start tracking it. The app set me at 1,500 calories per day. Seems like a lot until I start logging my snacks in. Yikes. While the snacks are pretty healthy, they still have calories. I have started measuring everything. I only want to lose about 10 lbs. This is hard.

We are going to the gym tonight. The weekend never happened. The 2 days we went last week was better than previous weeks so it's something.
DH went to happy hour Friday night and I was just straight tired Saturday/Sunday. I can't seem to kick this sinus infection completely.

I've got walking and core on tap for the gym tonight. We had such nice weather for the last few days I was able to get outside, but it's snowing again, so back to the treadmill/elliptical for me.

I had a crazy week at work last week and only managed 140 minutes of exercise. Not as bad as I thought, though, so that's fine. I was able to do a Barre3 workout (30 minutes) on Friday and then went on a walk with hubs right after (25 minutes). I like when he is at the tapering part of his training plans (he's got a trail marathon coming up soon) because then hubs actually wants to walk with me!
On Saturday I helped my local little league with field cleanup and other general cleaning duties before their seasons starts (ah, the life of public service) and my hip is still hurting. Gonna give myself one more day of rest. So my plan this week will be workouts Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.

Just did a 40 minute workout. I feel great! Definitely needed to be smart and take a couple of days off but happy to be back to my routine.

I need to incorporate yoga or some serious stretching into my routine, since I'm curled up in my car for 2+ hours a day again. my upper left leg has been tight, twitchy and crampy so far this week, to the point where I didn't want to walk the dogs today and we just went to the park. yesterday's walk was a little dicey at times when they were both pulling the leash. I wanted to keep my car clean a little longer, but what can ya do. anyway, suggestions are welcome, please and thank you!
I'm trying to clean up my eating this week, being shark week and all. I just want a salt lick. ugh. I'm allowing myself some Doritos while I take care of some stuff online, but dinner was baked cod and roasted broccoli. I added a small scoop of nuked colcannon leftover from Sunday, too.
I'm still cranking back the water during the day, gotta keep that up.

We did make it to the gym last night. And my membership transferred for sure as I got notifications that they are closing tonight. There's apparently water main damage in the shopping center it's located in.

I bet stretching or yoga might help. For myself, I try to get up and make a lap of my end of the building once per hour. I can feel the difference when I don't get to do these little things. I also make a habit of using the further away bathroom on my floor. Also schedule depending a coworker and I make a huge lap of our 3 connected buildings in the afternoon.
Finally I try to go down to the cafe to refill my water bottle instead of the handy filtered dispenser at the water fountain right outside of my office. Basically I try to do as many little things to keep myself moving as possible. It all seems little but it adds up.
On a good day my commute is 40-45 minutes. This morning it took me 75 minutes. I was not happy.
