buys toys, I fully understand how this run around makes your hair hurt. last year when I had a recurrence of the uterine cancer I couldn't manage to get an appt. with the oncologist. Northing but runaround and no one calling me back.
I'm not a veteran, but it certainly helps to be a volunteer at the medical center....I was moaning to a Patient Advocate who asked me if I wanted her to call and get the appt.....and she did. The VA sends hundreds of veterans to local oncology clinics and it turns out once again it's not what you know it's who you know....I had an appt. the next day.
I wish my contacts could help you.....prayers and good thoughts are coming your way.

I'm going to try one more time to get a call answered by the referrals person. If there's no call, I'm going to make an appointment to see my NP and ask her to do it while I'm right there. I can't believe this process is that awful. I've never had such a difficult time getting a referral.

I finally have an appointment! Yay! It's next week, so I don't even have to wait very long to see the oncologist. I can't even describe how much of a burden has been lifted from my shoulders. Trying to get the referral through was so stressful. Hopefully it's just smooth sailing now.

Buys.....take a note book along with you,. Especially for this 1st appointment because you won't remember anything they tell you. Continue to take that notebook to every appointment. My oncologist had fun teasing me about my pink striped book, told me he was going to charge me for every question I had.....he ended up getting gourmet brownies....
Be sure you write down every question you have also....again, you'll never remember.

I'm still in shock and don't know what questions I have. It just seems so surreal. I don't feel badly. There's no change I've noticed over the past couple of weeks. Maybe if I felt something it would be easier to believe? I just don't know. I also found out the other day that I have a tumor in my right eye. *sigh* It just won't stop! At least this isn't something that is cancerous from what she could tell. I have an appointment for that on Monday then the oncologist on Tuesday. I'm guessing my notebook is going to get quite the workout. Thank you, so much, for continuing to be so supportive. That means so much to me! (And that goes for all of you here!)

I'm feeling all depressed because I am home alone and I want a hug from DH but that's not going to happen. I miss him hugging me and being hugged. I'm also not dancing for joy since I got a letter in today's mail from the hospital telling me the health insurance denied DH's claim. All $21,000 of it. Now I have to wait until Monday before I can find out what the hell is going on.

The best I can do for hugs empress of self-improvementI miss Lucy purring in my lap. That is as close to hugs that I've gotten in years.

I miss my Zeus purring in my lap. The bag of bones and the puking Queen are NOT lap cats.

Two nights in a row of breathing exercises with DD8 using the calm app. I feel so silly doing it, told her so, and asked if she would feel silly with me. We both notice a calmness after a 10 min session.
Also signed up for work's 'get moving' challenge for this quarter. Week 1 is 120 mins of cardio (specifically walking/jogging) starting with a prescribed stretching session. Will be 120 mins more than I've done most weeks.
Now if I can just stop procrastinating at work.

At work they had a month long trial of an app called Headspace. I didn't try it personally, no smart phone. The response was so overwhelmingly positive that they were now offering it for free to all employees. That is over 5,000 employees. People have said it really helped with stress reduction, mindfulness and sleep.

Good news finally! The tumor in my eye sealed itself off, so I don't have to worry about it separating from my retina after all. I do have to go back once a year for an extra check up, but I'll take that.

I have the oncology appointment today. While I know it's not going to be good news, at least I will have some dates set up and that will help with my anxiety.

More good news! I am on a roll today! The oncologist is very confident that a hysterectomy will cure the cancer. w00t! All my stressing and anxiety have just melted away. DH and I are going out for an anti-stress dinner tonight. Thank you all for the hugs and good mojo. I really appreciate it more than I can say.

Another article that so perfectly captures what I'm feeling particularly about work. And I use whatever oomphf I can muster to barely get through the work day so I'm left binging Gray's Anatomy in the evenings instead of paying attn to my kids. www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/productivity-motivation-northwestern-acedia.html So next time you're wandering around your house yawning for no apparent reason and struggling to persuade yourself to do one of the many positive things you know you should do, don't call yourself depressed or lazy. Tell yourself you have acedia and that it's 100 percent natural for humans to respond to physical and social isolation this way. By feeling less defective and less alone, you just might gain an edge in actually beating your malaise.

I took 1/2 xanax earlier today. Usually that gets me over whatever is bothering me at the moment. Not today. I almost said things I would absolutely regret. I'm going to take a full one now and apply EmSam patches. I really hope it does the trick. The thought of going down that dark road again is just too much.
