I think I would be doing way better if I were in this alone. Seems like every day either DD7 or DD11 struggles so much with this and I use so much emotional energy trying to help them work thru it. Then, it's weird that it seems like I should have all of this free time, but I don't because I'm working full time and then some. DH was doing so well with keeping the house and meals going, but he's fed up with it this week too.

Mine are struggling too. Gwen has turned into a complete hermit I expect her to come out of her room rubbing her phone saying "My precious" any day now. Then Abby has taken to blaming me for anything and everything that goes wrong. I know she's five so this is NOT about me but damn kid! Maybe blame your father for a few hours and give me a break? I've read they are the worst with the people they love most because the trust that we aren't going anywhere. Trust me a little less kiddo. .. please. I have so much crap on my plate lately again between this and other reoccuring/new drama that there are days I am seriously tempted to go lick a door knob so I can get at least one part of the drama over with.

Hugs to you, azucena and NomoreDramaQ1015. Having children of the age to rely on you every day for everything during this crisis has got to be extremely challenging. My DD is going to be 34 soon and has issues with anxiety. There are times I just think- please, pull yourself together- and she lives on her own. The usual routines and methods of draining stress and propping yourself and your family up are not available. I admire how you both chug through. Have a stiff drink on me!

I know that on the boards here and elsewhere a lot of crap is being given for tattoo parlors opening. I tell you though in the next couple of months I am getting another one. The sensation is extremely cathartic for me.

It's been particularly hard for DD7 not to have friends to play with. It comes out in weird ways like a huge meltdown today over drawing a flower for art class. Way too intense to be just from the flower.

Abby is having a hard time too. Gwen can Snapchat with her friends and stuff so she is staying connected. Abby much less so and you can tell it bothers her. She was so stoked when her teacher did a google meeting last week. I need to message my friend she has a zoom account and I have no idea how to set up a chat. Her daughter is Abby's age and they play together from time to time. We thought a virtual visit might not be a bad idea. The kids in the neighborhood are going stir crazy too. We got one now that looks forward to us walking by her house when we take the dog out just so she can say hi to Gwen.

azucena, is there another way your DD7 can be in touch with her friends? Maybe send snail mail? Skype or Zoom? I would imagine parents of her friends are having similar issues. Seven-year-olds need each other.

We have been using duo for video chats. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it makes it worse. They "play" side by side. They have figured out how to play guess who and war thru the video.
Gave up and took a nap from 2 to 5. Slept hard so needed it but will likely pay for it at bedtime.

I was totally stupid and have been paying the price for it.
When my dad was sick, I quit taking my meds because I wasn't able to keep food down. I am now getting back on the meds.
I have to keep reminding myself that it takes time.

Seems like a logical choice at the time Theo. Might I suggest checking in with us if you ever decide to stop taking them again?
I've finally made peace with never going off the meds. Just not worth the risk of a huge crash.

My shrink went through this years ago with me, telling me I should just expect to be on the meds for life. At the time it was hard to hear but I knew he was right. Hang in there, TheOtherMe. Thinking of you.

TheOtherMe, thinking of you and hoping your meds kick in soon for you. We got good news yesterday, but now I'm stressing out. Our kitchen remodel will start Monday. Now we just need to kick it into high gear and get the kitchen cleared out. I've been so achy I haven't been consistent in moving things. DH has put his other projects on hold until we're done. I'll be happy when this is all over! I'm not looking forward to the mess, but am looking forward to the finished project. Sending everyone hugs and warm wishes!

I was so tired that I went to bed at 6:15 PM last night. I woke up at 2:30 AM. That is a long sleep for me.
I watched a couple of tv shows on my dvr and Lucy decided she must be fed.
I know I'm going to need a nap this afternoon, but I feel better this morning after all that sleep.

Sometimes you need a long, deep sleep to hit the reset button. Glad you're feeling better.
I'm doing okay, but having trouble getting motivated. This seems to be endemic to dealing with the stay-at-home period. Life is much less structured, even for me.

I can tell I'm headed to a sinkhole because I'm really irritable angry at nothing. Like DH. He has been bit by the idea that we should put in a vegetable garden in our backyard, which has been sadly neglected for a long time and shows it. Not to mention the years when I last tried to grow vegetables were tortured failures, providing plump and almost-ripe food for birds, squirrels and rabbits along with grubs, and required a lot of effort to pull off that useless end. Plus our $ is already prioritized: the portico columns need replacing, front window trim needs stripping and painting, front shutters need replacing, brick work needs remortaring and repointing, interior needs painting, ... Does he really not know this after our conversations over the past year? And I'd be the one who'd end up taking care of any garden. He's not able physically beyond 15- or 30-minute snatches to do physical work, even mowing the lawn. And I'm not in fantastic shape; I'm not 30 any more myself.
Yes, I'm irritable. Now is the springtime of my discontent. I always begin my slithering down as we get to summery weather. As a good friend says, just shoot me.
Plus the damn coronavirus. I was really looking forward to going to my niece's wedding May 30 and seeing family in Massachusetts as well as celebrating with her. She's a lovely young woman.
Now, no family, except I do see DD who lives close by. That's something. But I can't find King Arthur flour anywhere due to the virus. People talk about the lack of TP, chicken and hand sanitizer but I WANT MY FLOUR. There. Can't even get it online.
Thus ends the rant of finnime.
ETA I guess it wasn't quite the end. DH is also very high risk; is diabetic, has chronic kidney disease and is prone to severe infections in addition to his mobility issues from club feet. And Maryland has been pretty good about a measured response to the virus and reopening, but I foresee at some point he/we will become ill. How it works out--it won't be one of those heartening stories of 128-year-olds recovering.

Today has been a craptastic day at work. Every project I touch has problems with it and clients are clamoring for answers. Things are changing daily and sometimes hourly given I'm attempting to price life insurance and no one has a firm handle on virus projections. Meanwhile my boss continues to be a jerk. Then, I'm such a type A data and plan driven person that I can't help but read the latest virus news for my job and also personal info. Anxiety overload!

That stinks, azucena. High pressure without clear data and critical decisions to be made. Maybe a drink?

I have not checked in on this thread for a long time, probably because for some odd reason I've been doing pretty well. Maybe I'm just one of those people that has to have a certain amount of chaos? I don't know. I do have explosive anger outbursts occasionally that leave me going "WTF?!?", so obviously all is not completely great. I'm also not eating/exercising sufficiently and don't feel great physically at all. Anyhow I hope everyone is hanging in there.

That stinks, azucena. High pressure without clear data and critical decisions to be made. Maybe a drink? Having one for the third night in a row - told DH to help me watch that it doesn't become a crutch.
