![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/smile.gif) You were right, President Trump is doing the same thing the past two presidents have done. The US state of Texas is deploying National Guard members to the border with Mexico following a call from President Donald Trump.
A Guard spokesman said 250 personnel would be sent to patrol the area within the next 72 hours.
Arizona is also planning to deploy 150 troops there next week. link Someone somewhere has to be shaking in their boots imploring the President to please let them pay to build a wall to end this madness. I am just not sure who and where. Texas has a 1000 mile border with Mexico. that is 1 patrolman every 4 miles. unless they are driving back and forth in that 4 miles 24/7, this amount of personnel is insufficient. they need 90000 people in stationary positions to guard the border. I get that. But that is not the goal here. This is just a ploy to get ... to get ... well, to get someone to the negotiating table so President Trump can threaten this will continue until they give him the money to build a wall.

ken a.k.a OMK , what do you think would be the impact on retention and recruitment for National Guard units engaged in border wall construction? I am thinking with work and weather conditions at enlisted pay rates, there might be an issue there.

National Guard today very important element of our Armed Forces...usually heavy on support troops as reg military has cut down on these essential type units...Transportation, medical, communication , payroll, and such.....Joining National Guard one can expect deployment...possible more then once while active national guard where as in the past...rarely activated unless real shooting war...

the national guard has been tapped for military use since 911. that is part of the problem.
