Did my second walking workout of the year. Not an auspicious beginning. Spent most of last week sleeping off my cold. It seems to have mostly gone so I'm up for sweating myself to death again. Finally got under 200 pounds and would really like to stay there.

Did my kettlebell workout again today. Can't believe how quickly I got out of shape this last month. Getting old is a bitch.
The stridekick app is still not updating past days for me. The Garmin connect is getting them. I'm not doing anything spectacular anyway.
Drinking water today, but I ate 2 slices of pizza.

Went to run club for the first time in about a month and had a walking buddy (someone else who had surgery in 2017). We walked 3.1 miles in 50 minutes. Not too bad.

I make full-fat yogurt just about every week. I flavor it with vanilla extract and sweeten with stevia, then eat with fruit most of the time, or just as is. Started this last year when I was losing all that weight (40 pounds.) Great breakfast or mid-afternoon snack, fits well also into low-carb and in intermittent fasting at about 200 calories.
I make it instead of buying it because: I have an Instant Pot, which makes it really easy; it's much better than most I can buy, and I'm perenially cheap. It costs about $3 for ten Greek-style yogurt servings.

finnime - how do you make full-fat yogurt? I've been thinking about buying an Instant Pot.

finnime - how do you make full-fat yogurt? I've been thinking about buying an Instant Pot. I've got the Duo model which has a yogurt function. It brings the milk to a boil, then you let it cool to about 105 F, add starter (1 tablespoon of last batch yogurt, or buy one with active cultures), then IP will incubate for however many hours you set. I let it go overnight, for 9 hours. In the morning: yogurt! To make it Greek style I drain the whey out using my colandar lined with coffee filters. Good stuff, at least as good as Siggi.

I said I was going to workout at home last night and I didn't. And I drank my dinner. I fail.

Yesterday's yogurt was a fail. It was a 0 fat version, and I didn't like the flavor. (chocolate, but not really) Today's is a different brand and has fat so I hope I like it better.

We have thought about a home health aide but right now they feel a little hesitant about having a stranger come in. But I have to congratulate myself. I just finished the 35 minute crossfit workout and am still alive. I can do it apparently when I am tired I just have to get up and do it. Grear job! Is that online, or did you get a DVD? I totally understand about the stranger in the house, but it sounds like you could really use the help--for your own sake. It's only going to get worse from here. I found a workout online that just lists what you should do. I made it through another workout tonight and after a couple of weeks I am going to try to add 8 more minutes to it. I could really feel the first workout today so I know I at least worked a few muscles.

I buy the plain greek yogurt and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and half teaspoon of stevia to an 8 oz portion. I like it that way. But I have started putting granola in it too.

I'm still doing Whole30 so on day 14 of no added sugar, grains, dairy or alcohol. Overall I'm feeling really good and strong but it's going to get more complicated with being on the road so I'm going to focus on keeping good snacks available and working out regularly.
I'm 9/13 days for working out and this weekend may be a bust because I am traveling - the place I'm staying out of town has a gym and a pool so I am hopeful that I can adapt my schedule while I'm there. Weighed in today and down about 3 lbs from the start of the year for the dietbet I'm doing but I won't be able to check in again for a couple weeks so I'm focusing on the good habits.

Happy Saturday! Not fantastic on the eating front for me this week. Decent on the steps and getting cardio in. Forgot to do abs any of the weekdays. Weight is maintaining.

Only keeping up on my steps so far, and making mats or chasing kids has been my cardio. Today I did a mat class for a local community group. They were also serving a meal and offered for me to go through the line as well. I knew I would be busy making a mat so I had eaten before I got there. One lady looked at me and said, "You know, you don't have to not eat in order to lose weight." Um.....thanks?

I wouldn’t be able to come up something good on the spot like that either. Then later I’d have all these things I wished I would have said.

I did nothing today. I got up at 3:45 this afternoon and had absolutely no interest in doing anything before coming in to work. So I sat on the couch reading. I exercised my mind!

I've been thinking of giving up alcohol for a while now. I cut way back over the last 8-9 months. What was a daily habit dropped to just a few times a week, and less on the days I did consume. After my divorce I was listening to Buddhist podcasts, and some talked about how things that dull your senses don't allow you to grow. I've been listening to weight loss podcasts too, and they say a similar thing about overeating. That you hurt yourself and perpetuate an unhealthy cycle when you put something in your body to avoid feeling emotions.
I know at the height of my working out that when I exercise regularly I don't ever feel the "need" to consume alcohol, and that exercise has always made me feel better about any situation than a drink ever did. I had some wine on my birthday, and the sleep I got that night was absolutely awful. I went from waking 1-2 times a night to 5 times, and my time awake was 3-4 times higher. I also found that even one drink dulls my ability to play my cello. My fingers don't move as fast or with as much coordination. It also makes it difficult for me to run the next morning. So plenty of reasons- spiritual, health, music etc.
Has anyone else given up drinking? I've always thought of it as such an extreme thing to do. I didn't have any champagne this year for New Years and didn't miss it at all.

I had a brilliant plan for the morning. Up at 6:30 go to the gym, breakfast at 7:45, complete morning routine, be dressed and ready to take DD and two of her dance friends to dance class at 9:00. Brilliant.
My alarm was set for 6:30 am...on weekdays.

Down 4.6 pounds so far this year. I’ve logged my food every day and stayed within my calories goal every day except one. I was over by a couple hundred calories.
Still not exercising. I have been reasonably active though with home projects, rearranging the living area furniture and doing a deep clean. I want my house in good order before busy season hits completely at work. This is probably the last weekend I can get away with not working during the weekend for awhile, so I’m making the most of it.

For many reasons I think it's probably best for me to scale it back considerably. Those podcasts sound interesting - could you share what they are?

Down 2 lbs, and I've reached or exceeded my 10,000 step/day goal since I started. On the right track Still a lot of improvement to make but I am happy with this one part so far.

My clothes are starting to finally feel better. I haven't weighed since I don't feel like it's something that I should be measuring by.
Tonight is weights, spin, and then Zumba. And all our clearance clothes and shoes at the PT job are an extra 50% off right now. I got some super cute workout clothes for almost nothing! I'm going to look super cute doing it! Yay!

I put the sworkit app back on my phone. It's far more challenging that creating my own ab workouts. It also keeps a timer going with a voice talking to you about the time. It's a thing that I hate that I need.
