I did have whiskey in a toddy last night, so that was probably a bit dehydrating but ffs.

I graded in weapons on Friday night. I'm very proud, but will miss my white belt. I told them again that it feels like the longer I go, the less I know, but not in a bad way. Just in a, "how am I ever going to pick all this up"? kind of way.
It was a mixed grading of armed and unarmed, and we worked with yawara's (short sticks--translates perfectly to those mini maglites) which we haven't done in ages, and I didn't feel like I had ever done anything from that class before so a little clunky but really good too. We learned this sweep thing to take out your opponents legs (and my gawd, my instructor knows me well and could see the wtf look on my face as I'm trying to follow what we were doing and failing miserably repeatedly, but it's all good--I think I looked not bad at it by the end of the night). I got this horrible mat burn and bruise across the top of my foot. It hurt so freaking bad. They even warned about spinning on the top of your foot and how you'd only do that once which was right. Holy crap. At least I have a bruise to prove my pain.

Maybe next year I'll finally crack into the 160's.

I did hit my step goal for the year.
Not sure what I want to set as my goals for next year.
Weight loss for the year did not happen.

I got the flu and went down hard. I have not met step goal in about a week. My body still hurts, so I don't see anything miraculous happening before the end of the year. I will just have to start again in 2019.
I don't think I'm making goals necessarily for 2019 as far as fitness other than to focus more on strength training. I don't have a number in mind as far as amount I want to be able to lift though. I'll just wing it and try and make sure my clothes still fit. I can't really expect to maintain a certain weight since muscle weihs more than fat, so I'll probably end up gaining weight.

Ease back into your regularly scheduled program.

As a reflection of this year, My over eating is what’s kept me in the high 140s since 2016. My back problems are actually the cause of this year’s weight gain. My reduction of cardio had a much bigger impact than I anticipated. I turn 40 in 2018. I’m ready to get my overeating under control. A high school friend of mine is a health coach now. While I won’t subscribe to her program, I appreciate her plethora of posts about making good choices and that it is a struggle.

Knee Deep in Water Chloe I had to laugh at your comment about the health coach. One of my toastmaster's member is a health coach. I had to comment on her speech. My comment was thank you for listing a plethora of reasons for a health coach. I know I would not listen.

Looking at the year I'm down 6-10 pounds depending on the day. Today is closer to 6 which annoys me as I have an appointment about my weight. I think Ill be up 2 pounds from my last appointment with her. What possessed me to make an appointment on 12/31 I will never understand. I have nothing good to report. I havent been tracking, Ive barely been drinking water, exercuse even the last week was lacking.
My goals for the new year are to get up at 5am m-sa, 3-4 days a week to do home work for an hour the other 2 to stretch and do kettle bells at home or go swim laps. I'm hoping that coupling that with intermittent fasting 4-5 days a week (8am -4pm) I can have another good push of weight come off, but we'll see.

Welp, 2018 is almost over and I'm ending the year at the exact weight I started (154). I am nothing if not consistent! 😂
I want to drop into the 140s and be back to a solid size 8, but I'm in a good place mentally with exercise finally. Right now I'm a size 8/10 and I can start to see that my body is starting to change shape a bit with all the barre3 I've been doing at home. It has definitely been worth the $29/month subscription! I'm finally okay with not being able to run like I used to before my surgery. I found something I love doing and I think I will stick with it. Hopefully by spring my hip will be stronger and I can attempt to slowly run again. We shall see. I will have to make sure to ride my bike more often. I would like to sell my hybrid and finally get a road bike, which I should have done in the first place!
It's been a pretty food and beer heavy couple of weeks, so one immediate goal for myself is drink less delicious beer! I will stick with red wine and vodka sodas.
Here's to the end of 2018 and best wishes for 2019! 🥂

I mix my vodka with unsweetened sparkling water. All the main brands make them. I'm on a budget, so i just buy the Aldi brand. Saves way more calories than beer. Don't get me wrong, I still drink beer. Just not nearly as much as I did before.

I am all about sparkling water. Aside from coffee and actual water, it's pretty much all I drink. For my vodka, I stick with soda water and a lime wedge. Or cucumber vodka with just an ice cube on occasion. 😀

I'm hoping that coupling that with intermittent fasting 4-5 days a week (8am -4pm) I can have another good push of weight come off, but we'll see. Had a really good appointment with my doctor. The not great news is that I've been hovering in the 175-179 range since May of this year. The better news though is that I've lost 16% of my body weight since I started seeing her April the year before. We talked about goals and how happy I am where I am, and what I'm willing to do to get to where I want to go and why and my new plan is to just maintain. She said current research says it can take your body about 2 years to reset to a new baseline, so I'm about a half a year in. I'm absolutely still overweight and not by a small amount. But I'm in good shape, my blood pressure is good and has come back down to the low side of normal it always used to be and my cholesterol and all that jazz had come back to low normal on my last blood draw too. I'd rather stay at this weight long term than lose more and go back to where I was. I'm not willing to go under 1200 calories a day. I'm going to keep focusing on exercising, get back to tracking and keep calorie count at 1400, make a big new years push for the family to try new and eat more veggies overall, and keep a cut off on late night binging and see what happens.
