I actually met step goal on Saturday which I never really do. I got this really cute slip dress for this weekend. Only problem is I have loose skin around my stomach from my pregnancies, so I'm a bit lumpy. I think if I wear stockings that it'll be fine. But my waist trimmer is going to be my friend this week so hopefully I can it a little smaller by the big day. The things ladies go through. What big day??

We're going out dancing on Saturday. I am determined to look good! I think I do already, but I got a cute dress that basically looks like a sparkly slip to wear.

Thanks. I may have a pic or two on Monday. Well, providing I don't look too trashed in them.

Sounds like a smart, reasonable doctor, rae. Good luck! A friend of mine recently got her Cyclebar instructor certification and her first class is Sunday so I signed up. I have never done spin so I have no idea what I'm in for. Can't wait! How’d it go?

Thanks for the tips! I plan on going easy since it's my first class and I also have to baby my hip sometimes. But anything to support a friend! That's how I got hooked on barre, lol. My friend tried to kill me in her class yesterday, lol. I'm not as muscle sore today as I thought I would be but I am joint sore. My hip and low back are throbbing. I don't think Cyclebar is for me, but at least I tried and supported a friend! She is going to be a great instructor, though, so I am glad I went. When I attended my first barre3 class last month I was muscle sore for two days (ha) but my hip felt great, so looks like that is the indoor workout for me! Well, I’m glad you had fun! I hope your back feels better soon.

It was a crazy workout; I should be proud of myself for surviving 45 minutes! 🤣

I think I have sciatica. I have a pain in the arse. I wonder if an adjustment from the chiropractor would help.

You might not have sciatica, though, you might just have pulled a muscle or two. Depends on the kind of pain. I don't do chiro after a bad experience, but I am a huge advocate of PT. Go to your doctor and get diagnosed and get thee to a PT center before it all gets worse!

I hit a plateau a few weeks back - not surprising given I've been having back issues again, so less exercise, and work has been crazy and also there has been A LOT of food around. So, after several crazy weeks, I decided to just maintain through the holidays and work end-of-year (which is a terrible time for me). As soon as I decided this in my brain, I started losing weight again.
I don't understand bodies at all.

So I wore the waist trimmer yesterday. I think there is a tiny difference. I'm wearing it again today to see if I can get a little more of my lumps to not be noticeable. I think this dress will work if I wear some stockings with it to pull some things together. I have a pants outfit if not. I so wish i could just have this loose skin removed already. I need to start doing research on it.

omg I am so incredibly sore. All over. The kids touch me and I feel like I'm dying. And stairs...are like an act of god to get up and down. We did a bunch of break falls on Monday. Dd and I practiced them on our own in the morning and then class we did them as well which are full body workouts and I guess they just broke me? I really need to try to get some more in today and hope that works out the soreness. I'm absolutely dreading tonight and tomorrows prepping for t-day feeling like this.

I'll wear stockings and it'll be fine.

I like maternity leggings/shorts for smoothing things out. I'm not trying to make myself look skinnier, just a little more controlled maybe?

Right! I work hard to eat right for the most part and work out a lot. It sucks to do all that and still not have a flat stomach. Until I get this tummy tuck, it's never going to be flat. The tights or stockings at least pull some of it together a little better.

Weekly check in
Hit step goal.
Eating not good.
This week's step goal remains at 71000.
Really need to work on food choices. Plan is to drink water or unsweetened tea when the urge to eat outside of meals hits.
Have a great week everyone.

I’ve always done chiropractic. That held off problems until my health insurance cut me off for “lack of progress”. Then the disc bulged. 🙄 I know you don’t like yoga, but I’ve found that incredibly helpful to relieve my sciatic pain. After Forward-facing cow, full pigeon if you can get there modified if not, and cobra are especially good for the lower back.

I've had this hip/butt twinge on my left side for what feels like months. Not painful, maybe sore, always there though. Saturday in class we did these great partner stretches that hurt like hell (in that really good way though) on that side.
Last night in class we were doing a lot of stretches for arms and upper body, but I asked if we could walk through the leg stretches again since dh was there. We stretched for almost 45 minutes of class and it was heavenly.

I'll have to make sure to stretch my lower body better. Maybe that will help.
My back hurts today. I assume from shoveling snow yesterday. Today at the gym is going to be rough.

I am in poor shape, with my foot not able to go to the fitness center this fall and winter. At 72 will be very hard to get back in shape. I tried taking statins again and the muscle and joint pain is 4 fold with no relief from my pain killing drugs. Last night I quit again. I cannot stand the muscle cramps, joint pain, and headaches. I did it for 3 weeks again and just cannot. As hubs says have to weigh what risks I'm willing to take against almost debilitating pain.
Foot doc this week, hope something comes of this. In the interim tried a new topical called Theraworx which uses magnesium and getting relief from it. Allowing my foot to have more range of motion, but not all the time. It's like Epsom salts with magnesium helps too for a while.
I was in good physical condition. Going to try to use my weights, and weight machine that I have, don't think I can use the treadmill, maybe the exercycle, but the one I have isn't real good and my right foot is distorted enough the shoe hits the side of the machine, maybe hubs can make me an extension to the pedal.
DD and I are going to Weight Watchers after the first of the year to see is I can change our eating habits and diet. I'm 20 pounds over my BMI, so not way off, but 30 pounds would not hurt to put me solidly in the middle. My DD is grossly obese and hubs is up there. He will willingly follow any food plan we have also. Hope it works and we can help ourselves.
I feel for anyone with weight issues, its very hard for me to change the way we eat. I cook old school and we all like it so hard to change a lifetime of eating habits.

I go to the chiro at least monthly, keeps my spine in place, with degenerative disk disease it is always slipping out of place in a couple of places. But so far so good. I also love the water table, where streams of warm water under a covering massages your back, wonderful and less expensive then body massages. DD's Medicaid actually pays for her massages! She needs it, we paid for them before it did out of pocket, will again if we have to/

Hi everybody! I am a little late to this thread but I just discovered it yesterday. I have been overhauling my 60 y/o body since 8/20 when my A1C level was tested in the pre-diabetic range. At 5'2" I weighed 154 pounds. I have a muscular Neanderthal body with broad shoulders and hips, a legacy of my German farming DNA. At my height, the loss of a few pounds is noticeable. I have been keeping an exercise log for the past couple of years, usually doing ~180 minutes of aerobic every week. At my age and level of activity, maintenance is presumably about 2,000 calories a day. But, as many of you have observed, you can't really lose weight with just exercise, so... - I immediately ceased taking in refined carbs: sweets, white bread, white rice, candy, cake, "power bars", crackers, cutting out several hundred calories per day. There was a dreadful week of sugar withdrawal after which everything got much better.
- I tracked my calories for awhile and developed a routine that provides 1500-1800 calories/day. Luckily I really like eggs!
- Added 5# dumbbell reps to my weekly exercise and have been doing about an hour of weights/yoga per week;
- Added high intensity intervals to my Airdyne workout. We have a vintage stainless steel fan bike that offers more resistance the harder you work. Has levers as well as pedals, so it exercises not only your usual biking muscles but your laterals and arms as well.
- So since August 20, I have lost +/- ten pounds and have been enjoying clothes shopping in my closet, including some 90's vintage shorts that I haven't been able to wear for over 20 years, lol. I am not keen on making huge changes, just simple ones I can sustain with little effort for years to come.
Looking forward to Let's Get Fit 2019!

Have a great week everyone. Right there with ya. I'm good on exercise. Food intake though is pretty tragic. I used bread flour in half my cookies this weekend by accident. I can't give them away because they aren't as good as they're supposed to be. But hopefully that doesn't mean I'll try to eat them.

I've gotta admit that I am loving barre3. I feel good after a workout, which is awesome, and it definitely helps with my issue of needing something really low impact for my hip that actually does something.

Did not hit step goal. Missed by only 300. Eating has not improved. With upcoming holidays I just hope not to gain and consider this a win.
Have a great week everyone.

I'm starting the week off with bad food choices. Went out for lunch for a colleagues birthday and instead of salad, I got a fried chicken sandwich and chips. I only ate like 3 chips, so that makes it better, right !

I'm trying to also make better food choices. I've been having either oatmeal or eggs for breakfast, soup or salad for lunch, and cooking dinner instead of going out. I'm also going to stop eating at the cafeteria at work so much. Plus it's less expensive that way. 2019 is going to be a year of saving and paying down debt since the girls are grown now. Hopefully i can make some things happen as far as that goes.
