I desperately want to get to that state, but I’m so ridiculous in my sugar consumption. You can come sit with me in the corner and share my ice cream. Or chocolate covered cherries. Or whatever. I swear, I have no control if something is in my house. Right! If I can see it, I eat it. It's ridiculous. Last week, my boss preemptively apologized to me because he's trying to stop people from bringing in junk food to share at work. I was like "No, I appreciate it!". He offered me almonds today.

Just musing:
I only managed 15 minutes on the treadmill this evening before I decided to stop ignoring the increase in pain in my backside. I’m quite annoyed by that. Because of the bureaucracy that is my health insurance, I haven’t gone to physical therapy for three weeks. I’ve regressed significantly since then. I’d been able to do 30 minutes on the treadmill albeit not very fast.
According to my Fitbit, my resting heartbeat rate has gone up at least 5 and potentially 9 bpm since the beginning of July when my sciatica went from tolerable to intolerable. Since then, my weight has gone up another four pounds. I wouldn’t have thought that the amount of cardio I was doing before the back pain, which turned into leg and foot pain also, was having that much of an impact on my physical well-being. However, these are clear measures that it was beneficial.

I'm about that height. I do 1200 calories when I'm in active weight loss mode. I think 1400 or 1500 is maintenance. I'm not sure, because I don't track as closely during those times.

So, finally going back in the right direction, after eating the remaining 1/2 of YDS' birthday cake 1 slice/day at a time, speaking of no self control.

My downfall I think is beer. I love it, but I try not to drink too much of it. I will have some this Friday as I have a happy hour and then later I'm meeting friends at a bar. I'm just going to spread them out a little and compensate by eating better. One would think that with as much exercise as I do that I could eat or drink whatever I wanted. Alas, that is not the case. Especially as my 40th birthday is rapidly approaching. 🙁

I have the metabolic test scheduled for next week, but I need to move it. After they scheduled it they said no caffeine or heavy exercise 24 hours prior and I have class the night before. So we'll see.

Well I swam tonight. Which is good because I've been a bottomless pit of food the last couple of days.
Some days when I swim I feel like a sleek creature of the water, a mermaid or a dolphin, strong and fast.
Today I felt like an epileptic walrus. But I did it. So that's good?

Recumbent bike, arm bike, yoga, weights or swimming? When there's a real problem, pushing through the pain is likely to do more harm than good in the long term. There are other ways to keep active, although I know treadmill addicts generally disagree.

After reading this, I realized I hadn't done it in a while, so I did the treadmill for ten minutes and the recumbent bike for ten minutes this afternoon. I've still been doing yoga and core exercises. The closest indoor pool is 25 miles away. If DD still had dance class, I'd definitely consider going there after dropping her off. But since she doesn't, I'm just not willing to drive that much for the indoor pool.

I think I'm going to fit in an extra walk on the dsys that I don't go home for lunch. Especially on Fridays when I don't go to the gym. Starting today.

Hit step goal by 800.
Not much else went well.
Keeping step goal the same. I have meetings 2 nights after work and one on Saturday morning.
I know I need to work on evening snacking. So goal will be no food after 9:00 PM.
Have a great week everyone.

I'm going to do my official weigh in of the week tomorrow. Today I'm up like 2.6 pounds which I think (hopefully) is just water. I averaged around 1500 calories a day and only got to 280 minute of official exercise, but that doesn't include at home stretches and exercises and a couple of my classes were really intense.
We did ground work in jiu jitsu on Saturday and it was the first time that I didn't have to tap from exhaustion. Admittedly the technique was more for the person 'on top' (so you could stay on top during an altercation), but I could bridge and shrimp, and I had the core strength to kick my leg (and entire body) over my partner without relying on arms or having to break the drill to get in position.

I skipped swim class saturday morning, ugh. Wasn't feeling well enough after the stomach issue bout last week. Now I'm in the post-stomach-issue rebound phase where I NEED ALL THE FOOD TO GET IN MY FACE IMMEDIATELY HAVE YOU SEEN A CARB I NEED TO EAT IT.
Tomorrow I'm in an all-day meeting, so that will be a food and exercise disaster. Onwards and upwards.

Week is not starting well. Have already failed at not eating after 9:00 PM. Steps were not as high as I would have liked.

Apparently it wasn't water weight. I have my resting metabolism test on Thursday. Not sure what I want it to come back with.

Got a new fitness tracker and synched it to Stridekick. I'm in the step challenge for November. It's on!

Had my test done and my metabolism is high for my age/weight/etc. Maintenance should be 1858-2413 calories a day. So not losing weight on 1500 calories a day is weird. Today was just the test, I'll go in to talk through the results with my doctor next week. It's good news though. If it came back and that # was super low I don't know if I'd have the mental fortitude to keep trying. I wish I had done this before jiu jitsu so I could compare #'s and see if that has increased my metabolism.
My diet hasn't been great the last month or so (as evidenced by the fact that there are 0 vegetables in the fridge right now--dh has been doing the shopping). I will correct that today.
I'm going to make sure I'm tracking everything as close to real time as possible. I really can't imagine I'm that far off though because I do track a ton. MFP is open on my phone all the time, but I'll start using measuring cups to see if I'm overestimating serving sizes.
The doctors office now has their own app to track diet and exercise which they can access, along with a bmi scale and fitness tracker that they can download from. I couldn't wear the tracker in jiu jitsu or the pool so I won't get that but I'm considering the app and scale.

Weekly check in
Missed step goal by 800 steps. Did not eat after 9:00 4 of 7 days.
Weight is up a bit. Think some of it is water.
Goal for week
71000 steps No eating after 9:00 PM Drink more water/decaffeinated tea. Work on toning muscles
Have a great week everyone.

I did better on steps last week than in most recent weeks. The water intake still needs improvement. And I didn't have a milkshake last night.
Dinner is planned for the two nights I will be home this week.

I probably won't make it to any class this week. Tonight's our only time to do pumpkin carving, and I'm working till 8pm T/Th. Hopefully I'll get to Saturday I guess.

Yeah, when you were posting about not losing on 1500 with that much exercise, my first thought is that your portion tracking was out of wack. I got a food scale for like $10 I find helpful too because sometimes it's easier to run portions by weight.

I got a food scale for like $10 I find helpful too because sometimes it's easier to run portions by weight. I hate tracking things by weight. Lol. II butt heads with dh about weighing foods, because there are foods that he just loses his mind over not knowing the exact # of carbs for ds. But then he makes fun of me for using measuring cups for ice cream. I definitely could have my tracking wrong, but that is a lot of calories to be off by (it doesn't take much to get in another 500, but still). I haven't entirely accepted that though. If it contains carbs its been measured hundreds of times into every bowl, plate, or cup imaginable and if my eyeballing is that far off I think we'd see it other places. I am still doubling down on tracking, but I'm going back to focusing on protein and fiber intake. If I hit those 2 goals I have to be eating well. I also think I need to make a no eating after 8pm rule to encourage me to just stay in bed and go to sleep. On one hand the calories in, calories out should work but I know the quality of my sleep impacts my weight too.

I went to a barre3 class a couple of weeks ago since it was an event for a friend's charity fundraiser (husband has pancreatic cancer). I forking loved it! I think I found my non-running exercise. I also found some YouTube videos so I can do it at home and save money.
